CONDUCT OF GST (GROUP SCREENING TEST and PHIL-IRI PRE-TEST)

How to conduct GST (GROUP SCREENING TEST):
1. A reading passage shall be provided ( English and Filipino).
2. The assessment shall be through Reading Comprehension test. There will be 20 items of question for English and Filipino. 3. If your student got a score of 14 points and above, then there is no need for him/her to undergo the PHIL-IRI Pre-test. He/she will also be categorized as an independent reader. 4. If your student got a score of 13 points and below, then he/she should undergo the PHIL-IRI Pre-test. a. It depends on the subject where he/she got a score of 13 points and below. b. If he/she got it in Filipino ONLY give the Filipino Pre-test. If in English then administer English. If both, then administer both pre-test.
How to conduct PHIL-IRI PRE-Test:
1. A reading passage shall be provided ( English and Filipino).
2. The assessment shall be through Oral Reading test. 3. The teacher shall count the number of mispronounced or mistakenly read words by the students such as: Omission: instead of that’s = that Repetition: reading the word twice or thrice Mispronunciation 4. The teacher shall compute the score in oral reading based on this formula. 5. This is how you determine the student’s reading level.
6. A template on the student’s reading level tally will be provided to you.
