COMM 141 Student Video Introduction Assignment:

Students, for this assignment, you will need to have a webcam, a microphone, and
access to eCentennial.

In this small assignment, you will have the opportunity to introduce yourselves while
also getting to know how to use some tools on eCentennial.

This introduction will be worth 2% in the course, and it will be grouped with other small
assignments in “Skills Development Assignments,” which is worth a total of 15% in the
course.

For this assignment, you will be creating a video recording on eCentennial in


which you will introduce yourself. The recording should be about 1-minute long.
Please speak clearly and in complete sentences.

You will:

1. provide your full name (If you use a nickname, please also introduce that.)
2. show some photo I.D.

(Please hold it close to the camera so that it can be clearly seen.) If you
have your Centennial College photo I.D., great. However, if you do not
have a college photo I.D. card, any other photo I.D. that shows your name
and your face will be acceptable.

3. provide your Centennial College student number


4. provide your program of study at Centennial College
5. very briefly explain what you would like to learn in COMM 141
6. answer this question: Is English your 1st language? Yes or no? If no, what is
your 1st language?
7. answer this question: Are you currently living in Canada, or are you based in a
different country?
8. provide anything you would like to share with your professor.

Again, please keep your recording approximately 1 minute long.

On the next page, you will find instructions for how to create and
submit your recording on eCentennial. 
Steps for creating your recording:

1. Log onto eCentennial and enter your COMM 141 course shell.
2. Go to “Assignment” (Click on the “Assessments” tab to find it.)
3. Find the assignment folder for this student video introduction assignment. Click
on it.
4. You will now see an area to submit your assignment.
5. Under the text box, find the “Record Video” button. Make sure your webcam
is ready.
6. When you are ready, click on the “Record Video” button and then click the
“New Recording” button.
7. You will now record yourself for this assignment for about 1 minute.
8. When you are finished recording, press the “Stop Recording” button and then
press the “Add” button.
9. Now, enter a title for your recording. (Your complete name and student number is
a good idea.)
10. The last step is to press the “SUBMIT” button. Your professor will now be able
to view and listen to your recording.

 You can delete the recording and do it again if you wish.


 You can also submit a file of your recording.

Note: this is a mandatory confidential video that has to be submitted before the first
major mark assignment; otherwise, grades will be withheld.
