1.

The factors that affect the death of Rizal are;

- He was executed by firing squad by the Spanish colonial government for the crime of
rebellion, on Dec. 30, 1896, at Bagumbayan Field in Manila.
- He was suspected of being the father of Hitler.
- There are Germans who believed that he is a French spy because he travelled widely
and could speak 22 languages.
After the death of Rizal, Filipino’s patriotism and nationalism was awaken by his
writings – that focuses on liberal and progressive ideas of individual rights and freedom,
specifically, rights for the Filipino people. We can say that Rizal’s death has revoked evolution
for all, because 2 years after his execution, Spain lost control of the Philippines.

2. As I finished watching “Rizal in Dapitan” directed by Tikoy Aguiliz, a lot of realizations

and reflections come up in my mind. Rizal’s life in Dapitan was never easy as
represented and projected in the film. However, he was still able to make his situation
productive. He even built informal school and he taught several children there.

The film representation of Rizal was excellent. The details and information are truly
based on fact and is reliable. The firmness of the movements and formality that Albert
Martinez as Rizal was perfectly done, it even made me appreciate our National Hero
more. Also, the costume and production design are visually stunning as if you’re really
witnessing the life of Rizal and not the movie itself.

This film definitely brings a big impact on my perspective through the factual
information that have been cited. “Rizal in Dapitan”, proved me that Rizal’s exile in
medicine, agriculture, and education provides a great touch to people’s lives around him.
I’ve also witnessed that his passion to let the country seek for its independence and
reacquire peace was shown through the supremacy of his works that should be valued and
appreciated by us.
