The bar chart and pie chart give information about why US residents travelled and what problems they
experienced in the year 2009.

In 2009, 49% of the trips made by Americans were for the purpose of commuting. By contrast, only 6% of trips
were visits to friends or relatives, and one in ten trips were for social or recreational reasons. Shopping was
cited as the reason for 16% of all travel, while unspecific personal reasons accounted for the remaining 19%

According to the pie chart, the price was the key consideration for 36% of American travellers. Almost
one in five people cited safety as their foremost travel concern, while aggressive driving and
highway congestion were the main issues for 17% and 14% of them. Finally, a total
of 14% of those surveyed thought that access to public transport or space for pedestrians was the
most important issue.

It is clear that the principal reason why Americans travelled in 2009 was to commute to and from
work. In the same year, the primary concern of Americans, with regard to the trips they made, was
the cost of travelling.

Dear Sir,

I am writing this letter to draw your attention towards the file folder that I forgot to take while checking out. I
hope that your lost and found department got it. My name is Samantha Kaur and I stayed in room number 203
of your hotel from 28th February 2023 to 2nd March 2023.

This file folder is black in colour and has my name written on it. It contains important documents like my
passport and education credentials and even my US visa interview papers. I have my interview scheduled for
next week. So, it is extremely important for me to have this file folder.

I would highly appreciate it if you could send me this folder through express courier. Please provide me with the
bank details for your payment. I am enclosing details about my current address and the contact number as well.

Thank you for your support.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely

Samantha Kaur

Water is one of the most valuable natural resources, as it sustains human life. Some would expect that everyone
should have the right to use fresh water, but a portion of people today assert that it is necessary to ensure the
use of this resource is under the strict control of governments.

Due to the higher demand for water for industrial manufacture, daily life, and further preventing the destruction
of dependent hydro-ecosystems, freshwater will run out one day. What is worse, the abusive use of water is
commonly seen on farmland, in factories and the household. Therefore, supposing that governments take no
actions to deter a water crisis, this pivotal source would be so scarce that it cannot be accessed by many
anymore. To combat the deteriorating situation, it is believed authority is supposed to regulate the maximum
quantity of consumption in industrial production and adopt high technology aimed at recycling used water on
farmland.

On the other hand, it is fair to say people do have the right to use water as they want. The main reason lies in
that any restrictions might lead to poor sanitary conditions and the spread of diseases. In addition, it lowers
people’s living standards and causes inconvenience. For instance, showers are only available at certain hours of
the day; flowers can only be watered once a week.

In summary, from my perspective, although the budget for advancing water-saving techniques aggravates a
government’s financial burden, it should tackle the issue. Apart from the measures to control consumption on a
large-scale, educational campaign should be held to instil awareness of the public need in saving water in public.
