Introduction
This report aims to describe the process of learning in this module and reflective practice
throughout the semester. The reflective model is not just described as writing about my academic
report; it’s a process of comparison with backward activities and taking another objective to go
forward (Finlayson, 2016). 6 reflective models have been presented to describe my previous and
present academic activities. It reflects my current learning skill where three academic skills have
been presented in the reflective model. It also enhances and develops my knowledge and initially
changes me to boost my academic skills like time management skill, note taking, and writing
skills.

The learning in this module has helped to develop 3 academic skills
This module has taught me several types of academic abilities and skills. Among those, I am
going to discuss the developed three academic skills with the use of Gibb’s reflective cycle
model which is also known as the iterative model (Potter, 2015).

Description: I was too weak to manage my time. I can’t effectively manage my time and always
struggled to submit my academic report and completed my task within the assigned time. On the
first day of my class, I got trouble writing down the actual key points of the lecture. Not only had
it happened to me once, but it had occurred often throughout the first half of the semester.
Majority of my class, I missed writing down the recording information and the key points. For
this reason, I couldn’t engage my brain with some specific lecture. Due to my bad writing
presentation, I didn’t always receive enough grades. This problem had arisen because of my lack
of reading comprehension and analytical skills. I was unable to use correct writing techniques
such as sentence structure, grammatical, and spelling.

4
Feelings: When I came to know about the instructions of my teacher to submit the task within
the given time and it's mandatory for all of them which is strictly maintained then I thought,
sometimes it may be overwhelming for me. If I am unable to maintain this, I will lose my marks
forever and will not be recovered. Sometimes I feel angry about time management and thought
about how to get rid of this situation. The whirlwind of information flowing from a lecture might
be too fast for too many and I couldn’t completely write down my notes because a mountain of
unlearned content was left behind after the lesson is over. So, it badly impacted my early
academic life. Sometimes I was disappointed with my marks because of my poor grammatical
and the level of syntax which became unclear to my respective teacher and was unsatisfactory
for me.

Evaluation: I will get good grades if I can manage my time well enough to submit my report,
turn in my exam paper, complete my presentation, and finish my group project. If it doesn't
happen, I won't expect to get good grades. Note-taking skill will give me a great opportunity to
write down better answer in my exam script. Without these skills, I cannot able to put proper
answers which will badly impact my academic grades. Academic writing skill is a tool of
communication that will enrich the analysis ability. Improper writing skill creates
miscommunication with the teacher.

Analysis: Due to avoiding negligence boosts my performance and accomplishes my intended

goals with less effort and more efficient methods by improving my time management in
academic activities. It enhances my productivity and also keeps the work organized. My
management of time is far better now than before and I also try to improve it more. The note-
taking skill helps me to create attention in class or when reading textbooks which also assists in
learning. It keeps me alert and active throughout my entire body. It also minimizes my confusion
about the complex study. Note-taking is not only important for my academic life but also
important for my whole valuable life. I contribute to developing this skill every day. When
writing down an academic paper, we are not confined to providing the actual information. It
improves our critical thinking process, enriches our knowledge, prepares us for upcoming
careers, and assists us to grow intellectually. I am trying to improve my writing skill and also
working hard for developing this skill but I can’t get a better solution. I am falling behind
because of this skill.

5
Conclusion: Previously I have put value and given priorities in my time but not allocated my
time to my different types of activities. First of all, I have to identify how much time I have.
Then it will be divided into a total number of tasks and others variables where the time allocation
for each task can be estimated and it may give better output for better time management. In note-
taking skills, I could improve the way of rewrite ability if missed something. Sometimes I miss
some important key information and example and am not able to rewrite the skipped part.
Writing skill is essential parts but I can’t perfectly improve them. Probably I have lots of lacking
to follow the proper guideline and the way of improvement. If I were to devote sufficient time to
practice, my writing skills would improve. I could be able to create a structure for planning and
focusing on the topic, as well as outlining the structure, grammar, spelling, and sentence
structure.

Action Plan: If this problem occurs again, I would take some measures, including as

For time management skills:

 Planning for my entire academic task

 Establishing the priorities for each task
 Allocating time for each task
 Avoid unnecessary activities
 Eliminate unessential tasks for getting organized

For note-taking skill

 Write down the phrase not the entire sentence

 Using own words to write notes
 Can be used title, headings, subheadings, and number list
 Coding the notes

For academic writing skill

 Planning and focusing on the topic

 Improving the proper level of syntax
 Focusing on grammar and spelling

6
Conclusion
As per mention earlier, this module helps me a lot to maintain time management throughout my
semester. I couldn’t properly manage my time to complete my academic report but right now I
can manage my time. Note-taking skill was also a challenging part for me because I couldn’t
write down entire important information and also skipped something but I have learned lots more
techniques to develop my note-taking skill from this module. On the hand, my academic writing
skill slightly improved throughout the semester, and also needed to develop them at an extreme
level.
