खिलाफत आंदोलन
● Khilafat movement was initiated under the leadership of the two Ali
brothers, namely Mohammed Ali and Shaukat Ali-Maulana Azad,
Hakim Ajmal Khan and Hasrat Mohani.
खिलाफत आंदोलन दो अली भाइयों, मोहम्मद अली और शौकत अली-मौलाना
आजाद, हकीम अजमल खान और हसरत मोहानी के नेतत्ृ व में शरू ु किया गया था।
● The action was started to support the Sultan of Turkey, whom The
Muslim population in India considered their religious head.

movement of Gandhiji and led a joint protest against the British.

Movement merged into one nationwide movement by the year-end of

● People were asked to resign from their government jobs.
लोगों को अपनी सरकारी नौकरी से इस्तीफा दे ने के लिए कहा गया था।
● People were asked to withdraw their children from government-controlled or
aided schools and colleges.
लोगों को अपने बच्चों को सरकारी या सहायता प्राप्त स्कूलों और कॉलेजों से वापस लेने के
लिए कहा गया।
● People were asked to boycott foreign goods and use only Indian-made goods.

● Gandhiji called off the movement in February 1922 in the wake of the CHAURI
CHAURA incident.

● In Chauri Chaura, Uttar Pradesh, a violent mob set fire to a police station
killing 22 policemen during a clash between the police and protesters of the
movement.
उत्तर प्रदे श के चौरी चौरा में हिंसक भीड़ ने एक पलि

आंदोलन के प्रदर्शनकारियों के बीच झड़प के दौरान 22 पलि ु सकर्मियों की मौत हो गई।
Chauri-Chaura Incident
चौरी-चौरा घटना
● On 4 February 1922, participants of the Non-cooperation movement clashed
with police resulting in the deaths of about 22 policemen and 3 civilians at
Chauri Chaura in the Gorakhpur district in the United Provinces
4 फरवरी 1922 को, संयक्ु त प्रांत में गोरखपरु जिले के चौरी चौरा में असहयोग आंदोलन के
प्रतिभागियों की पलि
ु स के साथ झड़प हुई, जिसके परिणामस्वरूप लगभग 22 पलि ु सकर्मियों
और 3 नागरिकों की मौत हो गई।
SWARAJ PARTY
स्वराज पार्टी
● The Swaraj Party or the Congress-Khilafat Swarajya Party was formed on 1
January 1923 by C R Das and Motilal Nehru.
स्वराज पार्टी या कांग्रेस-खिलाफत स्वराज्य पार्टी का गठन 1 जनवरी 1923 को सी आर दास
और मोतीलाल नेहरू ने किया था।

● Simon Commission', was a group of seven Members of Parliament under the
chairmanship of Sir John Simon
