Organizational culture affects all aspects of your business, from punctuality and
tone to contract terms and employee benefits. When workplace culture aligns with your
employees, they’re more likely to feel more comfortable, supported, and valued.
Companies that prioritize culture can also weather difficult times and changes in the
business environment and come out stronger.

Essence of organizational culture


Simple truth is that the culture of the workplace controls the way employees behave
amongst themselves as well as with people outside the organization
• Organizational success and culture go hand in hand. They are inseparable.
• The culture decides the way employees interact at their workplace.
• No two organizations have the same culture. It is the culture of an organization
which makes it distinct from others.

WORKPLACE SPIRITUALITY
Workplace spirituality is a feature of a culture where organizational values promote
a sense of purpose through meaningful work taking place in the context of community.
Organizations with a spiritual culture recognize that people have a mind and a spirit, seek
to find meaning and purpose in their work, and desire to connect with other human beings
and be part of a community.
The stages of Socialization
1. Primary socialization - This type of socialization happens when a child learns the
values, norms and behaviors that should be displayed in order to live accordingly to a
specific culture.
2. Secondary socialization - This type of socialization occurs when a person learns an
appropriate behavior to be displayed within a smaller group which is still part of a larger
society.
3. Developmental socialization - This type of socialization involves a learning process
wherein the focus in on developing our social skills.
4. Anticipatory socialization - is the time prior to entering the organization when
expectations for the “encounter” are set (Jablin 2001).

6. Metamorphosis - this period represents the “time when an individual is an active,
established, or full organizational member.”
7. Resocialization - This type of socialization involves rejecting previous behavior patterns
and accepting new ones so the individual can shift from one part of his life to another.

The dimensions of Corporate Social Responsibility


1. Environmental Responsibility - Environmental responsibility refers to the belief that
organizations should behave in as environmentally friendly a way as possible.
2. Ethical Responsibility - Ethical responsibility is concerned with ensuring an organization
is operating in a fair and ethical manner.
3. Philanthropic Responsibility - Philanthropic responsibility refers to a business’s aim to
actively make the world and society a better place.
4. Economic Responsibility - Economic responsibility is the practice of a firm backing all of
its financial decisions in its commitment to do good in the areas mentioned.
