Online higher education continues to grow yet its higher drop-out rates remain a pressing
and complex problem. However, there are many different definitions of drop-out (and related
concepts: attrition, persistence, and retention in the literature, usually related to a temporal
conception, and the issue is controversial. Inconsistent terminology is problematic because
the ways drop-out is defined determine how it is measured, tackled and , researched. This
contribution seek to remedy such issue by summarizing a scoping review of the recent
literature on the theme, focusing on the key issue of online higher education students drop-
out conceptualization and definition.

SUMMARY, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

Summary
High school graduation and dropout rates have long been used as indicators of educational system
productivity and effectiveness and of social and economic well- being. In this study, we’d found out that
lack of interest is one of the primary problem that caused of dropping out of some students.

Conclusion
Dropping out high school if for some, not a “permanent” condition they drop out of school but later
return with the intention of completing their studies. Based in this research on of the reason of dropping out
is lack of interest (which is the highest factor), next is working to support their family, and financial problem

Recommendation
School counselors should address issues in the group that meet the needs of the students. The first
key also to motivating struggling learners is to build a positive relationship with each student. This is likely
a priority for you and your teachers. I regularly see school focusing on the caring aspect of school, and
should remember it truly is foundational to learn.
