A: What are you protesting about?
B: We want to save the oldest oak trees.

B: It’s this wood that you can see behind us. The local council wants to build a big shopping center
there

B: Well, if the shopping center is built, all these trees will be cut down. The animals that live there
will lose their homes and the town will lose the green space where people can walk and children
can play.
B: But the shopping center would be good for town, wouldn’t it? It would bring jobs.
A: We don’t agree. It will just take jobs away from the local shops and a lot of them will close and it
would produce more traffic and more pollution.

A: The local council is going to decide whether to build the shopping center next month. We’re
