Isabel Gomez 6/20/23

Dear Parents or Guardians,

Hi! It is my pleasure to welcome you and your child to 3rd grade Math! I’m so excited to
start this term and for all the learning we will be doing this year!
First and foremost, let me introduce myself. My name is Ms. Gomez and teaching has
always been a passion of mine. That being said, it took me a while to realize this and I first had
a career in the accounting field. I have a bachelors and masters degree in Accounting from Sam
Houston State University. However, at every stage of my life, I’ve been teaching in different
ways. Sunday school, personal tutoring, graduate assistant…just to name a few! Throughout all
these experiences, I’ve learned how to help others succeed in their learning and realized how
much joy it brought me to help others. After realizing my passion for teaching, I decided to leave
the accounting field all together and begin my teaching journey. I look forward to teaching your
child and using all my tools and knowledge to help them reach the stars this year!
Students and parents or guardians are naturally curious about grading, homework, and
assignments. You can expect your child to be assigned homework Monday-Thursday which
should take around 30 minutes to complete. No homework will be assigned over the weekend.
Assigned homework might be a worksheet or practice problems from the textbook – you can
always take a look at the class syllabus (attached) to double check what homework is assigned
on a particular date. Additionally, you can also find an overview of the grading rules and grading
scale to be used this year within the syllabus. Your child will not have the option to redo any
assignment, however, they will have the option to do additional practice problems (assigned by
me) to show mastery of the subject matter. This will serve as extra credit which will help with
their grade.
I want to make sure your child succeeds in their learning this year! I believe
communication is key to your child’s success and a good teacher/parent relationship can help
us work together for the good of your child. I encourage you to contact me if you have any
questions or concerns. You can reach me at my email or by calling the school. The contact
information is below. Additionally, I will give you constant updates on your child via weekly notes
in their take home folders. If there is anything you would like to meet about, reach out and we
can set something up!
I send you the biggest welcome to my 3rd grade Math class and I look forward to working
with you and your child this year!!
Sincerely,
Ms. Gomez
