Introductory Message
Welcome to Empowerment Technology!

The Learning Activity Sheet is a product of the collaborative efforts of

the Schools Division of Sipalay City and DepEd Regional Office VI - Western
Visayas through the Curriculum and Learning Management Division (CLMD).
This is developed to guide the learning facilitators (teachers, parents and
responsible adults) in helping the learners meet the standards set by the K to 12
Basic Education Curriculum.

The Learning Activity Sheet is self-directed instructional materials aimed

to guide the learners in accomplishing activities at their own pace and time using
the contextualized resources in the community. This will also assist the learners
in acquiring lifelong learning skills, knowledge and attitudes for productivity and
employment.

For learning facilitator:

The Empowerment Technology Activity Sheet will help you facilitate the
Teaching-learning activities specified in each Most Essential Learning
Competency (MELC) with a minimal or no face-to-face encounter between you
and the learner. This will be made available to the learners with references/links to
ease the independent learning.

For the learner:

The Empowerment Technology Activity Sheet is developed to help you

continue learning even if you are not in school. This learning material provides
you with meaningful and engaging activities for independent learning. Being an
active learner, carefully read and understand the instructions then perform the
activities and answer the assessments. This will be returned to your facilitator on
the agreed schedule.

Multimedia and ICT

I. Learning Competency with Code

Explore the principles of interactivity and rich content in the context of Web
2.0 and the participation of the user in the online experience.
(CS_ICT11/12-ICTPT-IIk- 14)

II. Background Information for Learners

Principles of Interactivity

The principle of Web 2.0, wherein the current internet evolution, can be
described by several key features of an expanded web that is more interactive.
● allows easy social interactions through participation and collaboration
from a variety of human sectors.
● responds more immediately to users' queries and needs,
● is easier to search,
● and provides a faster, smoother, realistic, and engaging user search
capability, often with automatic updates to users.

Rich content in the Online Environment and the User Experience

Rich user experience is the ability of the web to deliver full-scale GUI-style
applications to the client, making it easier to interact, share, and access web
content. Although rich user experience is based on rich content, it focuses on
the rich user interface to enhance how the data is presented, manipulated, and
used by the users.

GUI (Graphical User Interface) – a program that allows a person to work

easily with a computer by using a mouse to point a small picture and other
elements on the screen.

ICT Stands for Information and Communications Technology covers any

communication device or application including radio, television, cellular phones,
computer and network hardware and software, satellite systems, as well as
various services and applications.

1
Multimedia
Generally, it is the integration of text, sound, graphics, video, and animation
using a computer or any electronic devices. It is what appeals to users for
entertainment, learning and research.

formats used are JPEG, PNG, GIF, and TIFF
3. Video – adds more attraction to users. Common digital video formats are
Flash, MPEG, AVI, WMV, and Quick Time. It can be embedded within the
content or simply linked.
4. Audio – aids interactions with the user, it can also be added as a
background. Common audio formats are MP3, WMA, Wave, MIDI, and
RealAudio. It can be embedded or stream.
5. Animation – can include interactive effects that allow users to interact with
the use of a mouse or keyboard. Common animation formats are FLV, SWF,

2
and ActionScript.
6. Online Games – are universal in modern gaming platforms, including
PCs consoles and mobile devices.
7. Online tests and courseware – are designed for teachers and
students. Courseware can include materials for computer-based training,
interactive tutorials, distance learning, or homeschooling.
8. Web–, game-, pod-, and vod-, casting – A podcast is an episodic
series of digital media files which users can set up so that new episodes
are automatically downloaded via web syndication to the user’s own
local computer or portable media player. A webcast is a media
presentation distributed over the Internet using streaming media
technology to distribute a single content source to many simultaneous
listeners/viewers, distributed live or on demand. Vodcasting is the same
principle as podcasting with the addition of video.

Activity 2 - Given the definition in the screenshot below, describe what would you
combine to make your digital content interactive.

For Example:
Social networking websites such as Facebook, Twitter, and
Instagram are examples of interactive media. These sites use
graphics and text to allow users to share photos and information
about themselves, chat, and play games. Video games are another
type of interactive media.

Scenario:

How do I make my social media interactive?

To help get you thinking, here are seven types
of interactive content to consider.

1. Quizzes/Polls. (Quizzes and polls are an inexpensive way to

create interactive content)
2. Contest/Sweepstakes
3. Multiple Choice Posts
4. Interactive Infographics, Whitepapers, and eBooks
5. Workbooks and Assessments
6. Calculators
7. Interactive Videos

NOTE: Options that you may consider:

You may take screenshots of your work and make a presentation out
of it, you may consider using MS PowerPoint, Prezi, or any presentation
package software available in your place. Whenever platforms are not
available.

4
You may also consider printing your work and submit it through a hard
copy. Check the rubric for scoring your work so that you will be guided on
how to do it.
