subject: the value of learning a new language

Hi teacher,

This is Cintia Lem from lingua class level 7A. I came here from Peru, so as you know my
mother language is Spanish but English is the most demanding language spoken in the
world. so I would like to start by pointing out how important it is to learn a foreign language
as English for me.

Firstly, the recent statistics demonstrated that multilingual people have the ability to switch
between languages and be able to communicate more. For example: my upper colleague
could have more relations with latin and american companies, so thereby he got a job as a
front desk guy because the boss believed that instead of paying for one spanish and english
worker, he could do it by one.

Another contribution from a new language comes from expanding our idea, which means
that it helps us to collect different knowledge related to different subjects. Let me explain
better, the latest engineering books are written in English but when people translate it to
another language, they miss words or change the real meaning of.

Finally, doctors argue that 85% of people who speak more than two languages improve their
memories and brain functions. Alzheimer and loss of memories are sicknesses that we could
face and/or avoid in our eldest years. As an instance, “the more the merrier” is a phrase that
motivates our brains to get familiar with new grammar and vocabulary.

Please, let me know when we can discuss what is the value of learning a new language
program. I would really like to expand my ideas so deeply.

I look forward to continuing our conversation soon.

Cintia Lem
Student.
