LESSON PLAN Date JULY 26, 2023 Period 4th QUARTER

OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of probability.
B. Performance Standard: The learner is able to formulate and solve practical problems
involving probability of simple events.
C. Learning Competencies:
After this lesson, students are expected to:
counts the number of occurrences of an outcome in an experiment: (a) table; (b) tree
diagram; (c) systematic listing; and (d) fundamental counting principle.

PROCEDURES

Preparatory
Activity May I request everyone to please stand for a prayer.” (One student will lead
the prayer.)
(Everyone is praying.)

“Good Morning Class…” “Good Morning

Ma’am!”
“How’s your day students?”
“It’s good Ma’am.”
“Good to hear that!

“Before you take your seats, please pick up the pieces

of papers on the floor and throw it properly in the (They begin picking the
trash can. Also, please arrange your chairs properly.” trash and arranging
the chairs.)
“Okay, you may take your seats now.”
All: “Thank you,
“Let’s check your attendance. Say present as I call Ma’am.”
your name.”

(Checking of attendance.)

Before we start with our todays discussion let me remind

you with our classroom rules and safety protocols:
 Wear your Face mask
 Maintain Social distancing
 Sit comfortably
 Listen carefully
 Raise your right hand if you want to answer
 And participate actively.

A. Reviewing “Last meeting, we discussed about Probability and “Yes Ma’am.”

the some words with special meaning such as
Previous Experiment, Outcome and Sample Space, am I
Lesson right?”

“Can you tell me what is Probability?” “Probability is how

likely something to be
happened.”

“Very good! Probability deals with the occurrence of a

random event.”

“Now, what is the difference among experiment,

“Experiment is a
outcome and sample space?” repeatable procedure
with a set of possible
results. Outcome is a
possible result of an
experiment and sample
space are all possible
outcomes of an
experiment.”
“Very good! Example of the experiment are tossing or
flipping a coin, rolling a die, or picking a card from a
standard deck.”
All: “6 Ma’am.”
“So, what is the total outcome if I repeatedly throw
a die?” All: “1,2,3,4,5 and 6
Ma’am.”
“What are those outcomes?”

All: “Sample Space,

Ma’am”
“Okay, what do you call of those possible
outcomes of an experiment class?”

“Very Good!”

“Before we continue with our discussion last meeting, let

us do first an activity.”

Activity: Paste me to my Place!

1. Every envelope is containing pictures of traditional
costume of different country.
2. Put or paste the pictures on their corresponding
country. 3. It will only take 2 minutes to do the task.

“Okay, let me divide yourselves into two. The 1st row

will be the group 1 and the 2nd row will be the group 2.”
“I have here two envelopes named Paste me to my Place.
These envelopes are containing traditional costume of
different country. All you have to do is to put or paste the
picture on their corresponding country and post your work
on the board.” “Yes ma’am.”

“Understood?” (Representative of the

group get their
“Okay. Group 1 and 2, please get your envelope here.” envelope.)

“Yes Ma’am.”

“You have two minutes to do the activity. Are you now (Students start doing
ready? their activity)

“Time starts now!” “Yes Ma’am.”

“Are you done?”

(Students post their

on it.” (Students are listening
attentively.)
(The teacher starts checking the work of every group)

B. Establishing Counts the number of occurrences of an outcome in an

The Purpose of experiment: (a) table; (b) tree diagram; (c) systematic
the Lesson listing; and (d) fundamental counting principle.

C. Presenting
Examples/Instanc Today let us be familiar with how Mathematics is
es of New applied in the areas of tourism, fashion and design.” (Students are listening
Lesson attentively.)
” Our topic for today is the Basic Concepts of
Probability.”

“There are four ways in finding the number of

outcomes.”
1. by Systematic Listing
2. by Tree Diagram
3. by Table
4. by the Fundamental Counting Principle -In
Fundamental Counting Principle, if a choice is
consisting of two steps, of which the first can be
made in n1 ways and the second can be made in n2
ways, then the whole choice can be made in n1 * n2
ways.
D. Discussing New
Concepts and Example: One category for the Miss Halaran 2022 is the (One student will read
Practicing New local costume category where each contestant where the word problem.)
Skills #1 showcase her local costume. Kakai is joining the Miss
Halaran 2022 beauty pageant. She is undecided what to
wear in this category so, she asked one fashion designer
from the province of Iloilo to help her. The fashion
designer gave her 3 Blouses (A, B, and C) and 4 Skirts (W,
X, Y, and Z) to choose from. List all the possible outcomes
and the total number of outcomes.

(Students are listening

2. Tree Diagram:

C W CW

Z CZ

3. Table: Skirt

A AW AX AY AZ
Blouse
B BW BX BY BZ
C CW CX CY CZ

4.  Fundamental Counting Principle:

“All we have to do is to multiply n1 * n2 wherein n1 is the 3

blouses (A, B, and C) and n2 is the 4 skirts (W, X, Y, and
Z).”
“So, 3 blouses multiply by 4 skirts is equal to 12.”

“Simply, 3 x 4=12.”

“Therefore, we have 12 total number of outcomes.”

F. Finding Collaborative Activity:

practical In the talent portion, the contestants will have to go
application of through two (2) categories: singing and dancing. The
concept and skills contestant will pick from 4 songs and 2 dances. List all
in daily life. the possible outcome using the method presented and
determine the number of all possible outcomes.
Show as many solutions as you can.

Group 2, you have to use Tree Diagram. And for the
Group 3, you have to use a Table Method.”
“Yes Ma’am.”
“So, class, are you following?”

“Okay. You have to finish it in just 5 minutes.” “Are

you now ready?”
(Students Start doing
their activity.)
“Okay. Time starts now.”

“The importance of
those methods, it
shows how to get the

do it actively, it is just
a waste of time.
Instead, you have to

H. Evaluating methods.
Learning
A designer is creating a new costume for a
contestant. He is trying to come up with of different
combinations of costumes. He needs to choose from 3
colors (Red, Blue, and White) and 3 motifs (Futuristic,
Native Costume, and Avant-Garde).
I. Agreement
Analyze carefully the problem, then answer what asked
for.
One of your dreams is to have a new cell phone.
You went to a cell phone dealer and he gave you the
following options. How many available cell phones could
you choose from?
