3 Unpack and Check Materials

The radio is transported in a corrugated box.

Note: The packed radio must be kept in weather-protected environment. The

radio, once unpacked, must be installed according to the instructions,
even if it is not powered up immediately. The radio must be powered up
within 48 hours in outdoor environment.

Read the Reuse Packaging Guide, that is included in the box. For more
information about handling faulty equipment, refer to Handling Faulty
Equipment.

Do not dispose of the packaging as it can be required to return faulty equipment.

Steps

1. Check Product
Examine the packaging for
damage. If it is damaged,
immediately register a complaint
with the transport company. It is
recommended that a photo of the
damages be taken to improve the
claims process.

Power Up Radio

8 Power Up Radio

The radio must be powered up within 48 hours after installation, even if it is not
taken into service. The reason is to protect the internal units from local climate
conditions.

Do!
Products not connected to ground risk damage from overvoltage or overcurrent. Always
ground products according to instructions.

Steps

To power up the radio:

1. Make sure that the radio is

grounded according to
instructions.

Ge7355E

2. Switch on the external power to

the radio on both power feeds.

9 Check Radio After Power Up

Once the power has been switched on, the radio is loaded with the specific
software. Optical indicators show the status of the radio.

For more information on interpreting the optical indicators on the radio, see
Indicators, Buttons, and Switches.

Steps

1. Open the cover for the optical

indicators.

Ge18125B

2. Check that the operation optical

indicator for the radio and the fan
is green. If any red optical
indicator is on, contact the OMC
for maintenance support.

After This Task

It is recommended to run the installation self-check, as described in Perform
Basic Stand-alone Radio Installation Check. This feature helps to identify
potential connection faults or hardware faults of the radio.

It is recommended to run the Antenna Return Loss Frequency Sweep feature,

that validates the RF signal quality. For more information, see Manage Hardware
Equipment.

3. Fill in the verification checklist in the Customer Site Documentation.

4. Report any faults according to local requirements.

5. Hand over the Customer Site Documentation to the person responsible for
the site.

6. Lock all doors and gates to the site.

10.1 Environment
Ericsson strongly recommends that installers pay particular attention to the
environment when cleaning the site after installation.

Recycle all waste that can be recycled and sort the rest so that they can be
disposed of according to local regulations. Use the checklist in Table 11 for
recycling and sorting.
