Online Critical Care Course

Written by Clinicians for Clinicians Globally

You can choose from over 500 intensive care medicine training sessions written by leading subject-matter-experts and clinical educators in the UK.
e-ICM, which is suitable for both trainees and fully quali ed practitioners, features dedicated ICM sessions and relevant material from our award-
winning anaesthesia, acute medicine, surgery, radiology and end-of-life care courses.

There is an introductory pathway covering key concepts and terminology relating to critical care, which is ideal for doctors, nurses and critical care
practitioners.

Another pathway covers hard-to-reach areas of the curriculum that are sometimes challenging to address due to limited clinical exposure.

e-ICM gives you access to a wide range of material from a single knowledge source – saving you time and money.

The quality-assured content is mapped to the UK’s ICM curriculum and COBATRICE – an international programme designed to harmonise ICM
training in Europe and other world regions.

It includes 3D clinical diagrams, photographs and multiple-choice questions.

These questions, which are linked to articles from the British Journal of Anaesthesia, help to embed learning and understanding on the complex
principles involved.

Intensive Care Medicine Course Content

This online intensive care course consists of 10 modules.

Each module is divided into a number of easily manageable training sessions.

The training sessions takes around 20 to 30 minutes each to complete.

Topics within modules include the operating theatre environment, basic science and equipment, patient assessment, induction, post-operative
management and incident management

Further modules also provide an overview of the general aspects of clinical intensive care medicine that are not speci c to a particular disease
or patient group – e.g. organ support and nutrition & uid therapy.

The learner will then have access to a number of diseases that present to a critical care unit.

They give an overview of pathologies, which have been classi ed by medical and surgical specialty, such as cardiology, paediatrics,
gastrointestinal and renal (for instance).

Modules on infectious diseases, trauma resuscitation, injuries and major incidents), requesting further diagnostics and monitoring follow on,
with the programme concluding with topics such as patient safety, clinical governance and other ‘non-technical’ skills.
