ADS SYSTEM
ADS (AUDIO DATA SYSTEM) is a simplified installation electronic entry and video entry system, designed by FERMAX
ELECTRONICA, whose main feature consists of not using call wires.

Main Features of ADS Systems

* Simplified wiring installations
- Electronic entry: 3 wires.
- Video entry system: 3 wires + coaxial.
ADS systems do not require the typical call wire for each telephone or monitor needed in traditional systems. Call
from the panel is converted into a digital signal which is sent by a common wire. This digital signal is only recognised
by the telephone or monitor that has been programmed to do so, generating the corresponding audible call signal.

* Up to 199 homes with electronic entry or video entry system.

With ADS systems you can manage buildings of up to 199 homes.
* One or two electronic entry or video entry system accesses (entrances).
ADS systems let you install up to two entrances on the same building, with the possibility of combining audio and
video accesses.
In buildings where initially only one access is covered, adding an electronic entry or video entry system in a second
access requires a minimum installation.
* One Central Guard Unit
In addition to the two electronic entry/video entry system accesses, it is possible to install a desktop guard unit that
enables home-guard unit, home-outdoor panel and outdoor panel-guard unit communication.
* Access Control Accessories
Direct and Digital ADS systems incorporate access control functions by means of keypad codes via the numeric
keypads on their panels (previously programmed through the keypad).
ADS Digital systems can also incorporate backup proximity card readers for access control.
* Easy expansion with MDS-ADS system
It is possible to create closures for several outside accesses (MDS) to several interior blocks (ADS) easily and
quickly. (For further information, please consult the MDS-ADS Wiring Diagrams).
* Possibility to connect several equipments sets in each home
It is possible to install several monitors and/or telephones in the same home quickly and easily.
* Simple expansions
A telephone may be connected to any other telephone or monitor in the installation, with only three wires.
* Easy start-up
Behind the ADS system wiring, a simple programming is carried out to assign a number to each of the telephones or
monitors. If a home has more than one telephone and/or monitor, they can be programmed with the same number,
so that all of them will ring at once when the home receives a call.
* Door Release Timing setting
The ADS system lets you set the electric lock timing between 1 and 99 seconds (in panels with keypads).
* Privacy (total secrecy) in conversations
It is not possible, in any case, for a conversation between the outdoor panel or guard unit to be heard from any other
home. This is even valid between terminals installed in the same home.
When a telephone or monitor is called, the system function is inhibited for the rest of the terminals (for a minimum
time), so that even by pressing the auto-on switch you cannot see the telecamera image or hear the conversation of
any other user.
* Auto-on
All the monitors have an auto-on button you can use to connect with the outdoor panel at any time to see the image
captured by the camera and listen to the ambient sound, as long as the system is not being used by any other
monitor or telephone (privacy). In this case, when the auto-on button is pressed, a «beep» is heard as confirmation
that the channel is engaged.
In systems with 2 accesses (2 panels), it is possible to select the panel you want to connect if using a LOFT or
CITYMAX monitor (Citymax Export, Extra, or Complet models with extended connector).
It is also possible to enable the telephones (Extra or Complet) with an automatic on switch (optional kit). The auto-
on switch on the telephone will only activate the audio channel when it is not being used by any other terminal.

ADS System Types
In all ADS systems, each home terminal (telephone/monitor) is programmed with an ADS address that identifies it in
the installation and distinguishes it from the rest of the terminals. The ADS addresses go from 1 to 199 (Programming
the terminals is explained in the corresponding section for each terminal).

ADS systems are divided into three types, depending on the outdoor panel:

ADS CITY.
Installation with ADS City Panels: Pushbutton panels.
In City panels, each button corresponds with a given ADS address, so that the house call is made by pressing the
corresponding call button.

It is suitable for buildings with few homes, as there is one

button for each home and the size of the panels depends on
the number.
HIGH RESOLUTION
CCD CAMERA
PAN &TILT

ADS DIRECT
Installation with ADS Direct Panels: Panels with Keypad.
A house call is made by entering the ADS address assigned to each home terminal by means of a numeric
keypad, which is also used for access control functions. A Directory Panel installed beside the ADS Panel gives
the ADS address corresponding to each home. The size of the ADS DIRECT Panel will always be the same,
regardless of the number of homes.

ADS DIGITAL
Installation with ADS Digital Panels: Panels with Keypad and Display.
House calls are made by entering the ADS address assigned to each home terminal by means of a numeric
keypad (which also has access control functions), or by a call code (a number, usually the door number) associated
by panel programming to an ADS address.
ADS Digital Panels have a built-in electronic directory that lets you search for names via an LCD display.

In ADS Digital Panels, the display can be connected to a backup proximity card reading module, enhancing the
ADS Digital system’s access control functionality. The users and their card codes are stored and managed with
the keypad and display.

home.
- Call extension module (one every 16 buttons): The main advantage of an ADS CITY Panel is

that it does not use call wires. This is possible since the call is made by transmission of a digital
signal, generated via the Call Extension Modules (see section on «Call Extension Module»). This
module is not necessary if the panel has 1 to 3 pushbuttons.
- Telecamera module (b/w or colour) (only required for video entry installations) or viewer
module (optional).

- Door Release Time Setting: With a keypad it is possible to program the electric lock/door
release timing between 1 and 99 seconds (See ADS Direct Panels section).

ADS City Panel Typology

ADS CITY look the same as FERMAX CITY series panels (conventional 4+N system), which are divided into 9 series,
all of the same width, but of different heights:

SERIES 1 SERIES 2
SERIES 3 SERIES 4 SERIES 5 SERIES 6 SERIES 7 SERIES 8 SERIES 9
128 x 130 151 x 130
175 x 130 199 x 130 246 x 130 294 x 130 341 x 130 389 x 130 436,5 x 130
In each Series, there are several panel models, depending on whether they incorporate an ADS amplifier, viewer to
fit the telecamera, number of buttons, etc.

The only difference between CITY 4+N panels and CITY ADS panels is that the electronics of the amplifiers incorporated
are different, so, in order to distinguish the ADS amplifier from panels with the CITY 4+N amplifier, a 5 has been added
to the reference of the panel with the ADS amplifier.
(Example: The panel shown in the figure from Series 6 in 4+N has Ref.: 8562; in ADS, its reference will be 85625).

CITY let you make different types of combinations (with single or double pushbutton, with viewer, without amplifier, with
telecamera ...). In each case, you can select the most suitable one for the features of the installation (number of
homes, electronic entry or video entry, etc.):

Panel with amplifier, viewer Panel without amplifier and Panel 1 with amplifier, Panel 1 with double pushbuttons,
and double pushbuttons. with single pushbuttons. Panel 2 with telecamera Panel 2 with telecamera, amplifier

ADS

Call Extension Module
The main advantage of an ADS panel is that it uses no call wires. This is possible because the call is made by
transmitting a digital code, generated by the amplifier, when a given call button is pressed. This code is sent through
data line «L» which, being a common wire, reaches all the monitors or telephones. Only the terminal that has been
programmed previously with this code will recognise it, then generate a call signal.
Obviously, after start-up, the monitors or telephones will have to be programmed with their corresponding call codes.
This is done very easily, as shown in the files for each monitor and telephone.
In City pushbutton panels, to generate the specific code for each of the calls, one or more Call Extension Modules are
used (one for each16 buttons). This module translates each press of a button on the panel into an ADS call code. (See
Call Extension Module connection diagrams).
City panels with 1 to 3 pushbuttons do not require installation of the call extension module (see Panel pre-wiring
diagrams).

ADS Citymax Panel Typology

ADS CITYMAX panels make up the FERMAX line of continuous profile modular composition panels.
Their design and features are similar to CityLine panels, with the differences in practical aspects that affect their
composition and assembly.
Panel assembly is very simple. All you have to do is select the combination of modules and fit them into the frames.
All the accessories are compatible.

Citymax Panels
Necessary for insertion of the amplifier, telecamera and pushbutton mo-
dules.
The four panel models coincide with series 3, 5, 7 and 8 of the CityLine
panels.

ADS Citymax Amplifier Module

Includes cable for connection to the first pushbutton module.

Pushbutton modules
With these modules, the call extension module is not necessary, which
considerably reduces the cost of installation. It is provided with an
interconnection cable to the next module.

Necessary to interconnect several panels.
Connected between the output of the last module of the first panel and
the first one of the next panel.

Citymax Pushbutton Module Interconnection
As mentioned previously, Citymax panels do not require call extension modules, as the function generating the ADS
call code is incorporated in the pushbutton modules corresponding to each home (do not confuse the ADS call code or
ADS call address with the house door number).
The different pushbutton modules are interconected to make up the desired panel configuration:

This is because the electronics incorporated in the simple pushbutton modules is the same for the 3-button module 3
as for the 1-button module.
The same goes for the double pushbutton modules, the modules with 2 to 6 buttons incorporate the same electronics
as the 6-button modules.

Door Release Code Programming in ADS Direct Panels

All the ADS Direct Panel models let you open the door from the outdoor panel by keying in a 4-digit code.
Take the following steps to activate and configure the code operated door release:
* Door release code activation sequence
1.- With the power supply disconnected, make a short circuit between terminals B and B on the amplifier (or press
the door release button, if it is installed).
2.- Maintaining the short circuit, connect the system power supply (as it is not necessary to keep the short circuit
or the button pressed). You have one minute to enable the door release code, as described in the following point.
3.- Key in programming code 3 1 4 1 (this code cannot be changed) and enter the four figures of the code you want
to use to open the door, followed by the key.

* Code change
To change the door release code, you must know the previous one. If you do not know the previous door release
code, you will need to go through the sequence described in the previous section.
The code change sequence is as follows:
1.- Key in programming code: 3 1 4 1.
2.- Enter the current door release code.
3.- Enter the new code (four digits) and press the key.

NOTES:
- Use the ‘A’ key to delete or restart the sequence.
- Do not forget to undo the short circuit between B and B in the panel amplifier after performing the necessary
operations.
- Once the door release code is activated, this function cannot be disabled. This means that there will always be a
door release code, whether known by the system users or not.

Open Door Timing Programming in ADS Direct Panels

All the ADS Direct Panel models let you program the door release activation timing.

* There are two programmable timings:

- Timing for opening the door from the home and from the panel keypad (using the door release code).
- Opening timing corresponding to the button located inside the facility and that serves to activate the door release
(if installed).

* The programming sequence is as follows:

1.- Disconnect the power supply and switch it on again. You have approximately one minute to perform the
following steps of the sequence.
2.- Key in programming code 3 1 4 1 followed by 4 digits and press the key.
Of these 4 figures, the first two correspond to the opening time from the home, and the last two with the opening
time from the button installed in the entrance.

NOTES:
- Possible timing values are between 01 and 99 seconds.
- Any time below 10 seconds must be preceded by the digit ‘0’.
- In the event of error when programming the timings (or if you want to make any changes), it is necessary to
reinitiate the sequence from point 1.

Configuring Parameters in ADS Digital Panels
ADS Digital Panels have added functionalities, programmed via the keypad and display:
- Electronic Directory:
Lets you enter data on up to 350 users (residents) (although always to a maximum of 199 homes). In this way,
it is possible to authorise several users for the same home.
This function lets the visitor view the data on the residents authorised in the directory, simplifying the search
process (using the arrows) and call (once the person has been found) by pressing the key.
- Personalised Opening Codes:
Lets you assign each user their own keypad code, proximity card or button key (these two latter options if there
is a secondary proximity reader Ref. 23352 or button key Ref. 23362) to access the premises.
- 4-digit Call Coding:
Using the digital directory, it is also possible to encode the calls with 4 digits (0001...9999) in such a way that
you can, for example, make 2-2 combinations (2 digits for the floor and 2 for the apartment), and so avoid
restricting possibilities to the ADS range (from 1 to 199).
- Programming and Configuring Opening Times.

ADS ADS
City Panel Halo Panel
Amplifier Amplifier
The main features of ADS amplifiers are as follows:

* Voice Synthesisers
Every time the door release is activated from a home, the voice synthesiser issues a message: «Door is open,
please close after entering».
Every amplifier has a built-in voice synthesiser module, which issues the «Door is open, please close after entering»
message each time the door release is activated from indoors.
The language of the message is configurable: French, English, Spanish and German, depending on the message
selection switch position, or may be cancelled if it is not set in any of the positions.
The synthesiser module can be substituted by other versions that include different languages (Valencian, Catalan,
Portuguese, Polish, Dutch, Russian ...). For more information, please consult the Technical Information, code
94335b.

* Open Door Timing

It is possible to program the door release timing between 1 and 99 seconds (in panels with keypad).

* For installation with one or two accesses

In installations with two accesses, it is necessary to define one of the panels as ACCESS 1 and the other as
ACCESS 2, by means of a jumper for this purpose.
System programming must always be done from the ACCESS 1 panel, i. e., from the one with the jumper set. See
installation diagrams.
Switcher is not needed, as long as one of the panels is audio only.

* Autoprotection against wiring errors

The ADS amplifier has built-in electronic protection circuits against wiring errors in the installation, presenting, in
each case, the symptoms explained in the following table:

SHORT CIRCUIT
SYMPTOM CAUSED:
between wires:
• Nothing works.
«+» (positive)
and • Nothing works when a call is made.
«-» (negative) • The short circuit activates the power supply protection devices, so there is no tension
between «+» and «-».

«-» (negative)
and • The panel emits constant beeps (acoustic coupling) or a series of short beeps.
«L» (audio-data)

«+» (positive) • Although there is 12 Vdc tension between «+» and «-», nothing works.
and • There is no call, but there is monitoring in the panel.
«L» (audio-data)
• When the call button is pressed, the Diagnostic LED gives off short flashes.

ADS Telephone Programming

Programming ADS telephones is very simple, similar to ADS monitors. Before programming ADS telephones, they
must be connected to the installation and power supply.

Among the ADS telephone models, there are two programming modes:
- ADS telephones with «Programming Button»
- ADS telephones with «Programming Jumper»
The programming button or jumper is in the telephone circuit (to access the circuit, it is necessary to remove the
telephone cover).

ADS telephones (except the Kit telephone) have a call tone selector jumper that lets you choose between two
different call tones.
The steps to program the different telephone models and call tone configuration are explained below:

IMPORTANT
In installations with 2 accesses, programming can only be done from the panel configured as Main Panel.
In installations with a Guard Unit, to be able to program the monitors from the outdoor panel, the guard unit must be in Night
Mode.
To program from the Guard Unit, it must be set in programming mode (See «ADS Guard Unit Manual» code 97001).

OTHER BASIC Components of ADS Installations
ADS Switcher
In installations with two video entry accesses, the use of an ADS switcher ref. 2450 is PACK CAMBIADOR VIDEO ADS

required. It is not necessary in installations where either of the two installations is audio
only.

Its purpose is to select the video signal from the panel where the call has been made from. S V Vi Vo

This selection is made by a signal (a negative) sent by the panel through the «S» wire S+ L VM + L Vi Mi + L VoMo
(see installation diagrams).

Video Distributor
All the video signal bifurcations must be made with the corresponding video distributors.

when output number 1 is being used, i. e., it will be cut in all the distributors in cascade,
except for the last one in the trunk.

Electric Lock/Door Release

As of version 5.0, ADS amplifiers have a potential-free relay (C, No, Nc) that enable it to be used
either as AC or DC electric lock.
The electric lock power supply 12 Vdc can go through the ADS amplifier itself (until a maximum
electric lock consumption of 0.4A).
If using an alternate current electric lock, it will be necessary to add an additional AC power supply
(sufficiently dimensioned), which, through the amplifier relay, will provide the current needed to
activate the electric lock.

ADS Telephone Interface

Aerial Camera
Lets you expand the possibilities of an ADS installation with one video entry access with
several aerial cameras, which can be viewed from the monitor of the home where they are
installed (consult installation diagrams in the corresponding manuals).
This application is useful for surveillance of the rear of the home in villas, to monitor the
access door from a vantage point, giving a perfect view of the person accessing the villa
from an additional angle to that of the camera located at the outdoor panel, to check the
garage ... etc.

The aerial camera is manufactured in zamak and 2.5 mm thick, impact -resistant

polycarbonate glass. Its special chassis, forming a 90º angle, and its reversible wall support, let you anchor it to all
types of ceiling, walls, corner units, at a 45º angle ... etc

Power Supplies
The proper functioning of any electrical/electronic system depends, to a great extent, on a good dimensioning of the
power supply. For this reason, special care must be taken when choosing the model and number of power supplies
needed for the installation.
ADS systems are powered by 18 Vdc, but depending on the installation, (number of monitors/telephones installed, type
of door release used, line length ...) the power supply necessary may vary in terms of model and number of supplies.
