Theory
Example of MyPower VG M6000 to explain voice gateway theory:
G.711 PCM
G.723.1 ACELP Ethernet G.711 PCM
edia Analog
G.729A CS-ACELP
PSTN
VGK2X
IP
VOP
H.323 Signal R2
PRI
IP phone Analog
In above application mode, the voice gateway works as relay gateway and
also as gateway.

When the real data from E1 line reaches voice gateway, the processing
unit of voice gateway system separates signal and voice media data and
then switches.
The system first gets caller information from E1 and sends it to gatekeeper
to authenticate its ID. After authentication, the system gets the called
number.
The call is established. System transforms call signal of ISDN PRI or China
No.1 of PSTN/ISDN side to H.225 and sends it from IP network. In the
opposite direction, H225 of H323 call transfers to ISDN PRI or China No.1.
After the setup of call, both parties start voice communication. The system
completes the switch function of voice media data format. System
compresses voice PCM to G.729 and G.923 and then sends to IP phone. IP
phone decompresses it to 64K PCM code and sends it out via voice card.
After the call, the call connection is removed and the gateway focuses on
accounting and statistics.

Gateway connects to the phone via VOP port. Following is the theory:
VOP-IP mode
- Analog accesses to voice gateway via VOP port, and after the id
authentication and called information, it sets up logical voice
channel with IP phone.
- The voice signal first switches to PCM signal, and then compresses
to G.729, G723 signals, finally will be sent to IP phone.

Address Analysis
MyPower VG gateway permits designating IP via address analysis and
naming service.
Set Up ARP
One equipment may have MAC address or network address. For example,
to communicate with the equipment on Ethernet, the 48 bits MAC address
must be confirmed. The process of confirming local data link address from
IP address is address analysis. Or it is address analysis in reverse.
MyPower
IP addressVG gateway

address is confirmed, the conjunction of IP/MAC address will be stored in
ARP high-speed buffer for searches. The IP data packet is encapsulated in
link layer for transmission.
Command Description

2.Proxy ARP
If ARP request is sending from the host to another host of different
network, MyPower VG gateway connecting the two networks can answer
the request, and this process is ARP (Proxy ARP). MyPower VG gatway is
the agent of host the distributing group will be transitted to it. RFC1027

MyPower VG gateway enables IP routing forwarding by default. But in
some special condition, the user can disable routing, and this can be done
in global configuration mode:
Command Description
gateway (config)# ip routing Enable IP routing forwarding
gateway (config)# no ip routing Disable IP routing forwarding

IP High-speed Forwarding
IP high-speed forwarding realizes via routing buffer mechanism. The
purpose of routing buffer is to reduce the lookup of routing list, and use
the foregoing lookup result to speed up the packet sending rate.
But in some special condition, the user can choose enable/disable the
following modes for routing buffer.
Command Description

Call forwarding
User A is the user who can use call forwarding During the communicatin
between user A (called party) and user B (calling party), user A forwards
current calling of user B to new call between user B and user C. once finish
call forwarding, user B can communicate with user C, while user A will not

The second forwarding demands the called party A and transfer party C
are at the same gateway, and the communication is still going on although
the transfer is unsuccessful.
Direct forwarding has no position demand of each user. If they are not at
the same gateway, the calling party should support H450 protocol, and the
communication can not be went on without forwarding.
Calldown: standard tone by default is: calling party is hung up. During the
forwarding after query, the called party communicates with the forwarding
party, and if the calling party is hung up, the tone will be played.
Music: music tone. During the forwarding after query, the communication
between called party and forwarding party will play musice to calling
party, which prompts calling party waiting for some time.
Call Transfer
The non-condition call transfer service transfers your call to an directional
number. Once the call transfer initiated, the call will be transferred without
considering service port status.
(CFB)
For CFB, when the user is busy, the called number can be transferred to
another number. This service is applied to all
Calls.
(CFNR)
The user has following functions: if the connection of transferred number
is not established, this call will be transmited to another port.

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/mypower-vg-ip-config-manual 128/181
5/22/2018 MyPower VGIPConfigManual-slidepdf.com
For example,
If the user wants to configure CFB number 123456 of call transfer service,
only needs to dial *40*123456# , and if the configuration is successful,
the user will listen the tone if failed, the user will listen busy tone.
If the user wants to examine whether the telephone has configured CFB
nuber 123456 of call transfer service, only needs to dial #40*123456# , if
has configured, the user will listen successful tone if current input number
is different from CFB number or the service has not been applied, the user
will listen busy tone.
If the user wants to cancel CFB of call transfer service, only needs to dial
#40#. If the configuration is successful, the user will listen successful tone
if failed, the user will listen busy tone.
The definition of CFB, CFNR and CFU refers to call transfer part of this
manual.
P r om pt i ng T one
The prompting tone is stored in the directory of flash\appUc\, and the
files and definitions are as following:
If non-condition transfer has configured, here the configuration of no
answer or busy transfer will cover non-condition transfer configuration.
If the phone number is modified during the using process of gateway, the
transfer property should be canceled via command of gateway or network
management.
The gateway will auto store the configuration of each call transfer for
users. If there’s no need for strored, please

S er v i c e Us e O r der
The order of often used value-added service:
2. During the examining process, whether the calling number can call
the called number is according to black-white list configuration rule
S er v i c e Conf l i c t
Some service may not use extral service because of the conflict. For
example, if one number has both call transfer and call waiting, call
transfer is priority, and non-condition call transfer takes precedence of
other two kinds of call transfers if user C (the second dialed number) is
the local number of gateway and features call waiting, and this time the
calling party is priority and the call waiting service is not supported.
Call waiting
The precondition of call waiting is for a new user calling a call waiting user
who is busy now. The following is the service conflict (A, B, C represent
call waiting user, the first calling party and the second calling party).
http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/mypower-vg-ip-config-manual 131/181
5/22/2018 MyPower VGIPConfigManual-slidepdf.com
During the call waiting process of ABC, user ABC can not use call
forwarding service.
Call waiting service and busy transfer can not be configured at the same
time, and busy transfer has the priority.
Call forwarding
If A is in the process of call waiting, A can not use call forwarding, only
when the conversatrion has only two users.
http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/mypower-vg-ip-config-manual 132/181
5/22/2018 MyPower VGIPConfigManual-slidepdf.com
d) if the conversation with A is from IP, and 1234 is out from IP, it
prompts your destination number is not existed.
If it doesn’t support IVR record from IP, it prompts the number is not
existed.
When user is using IVR service, the record can not be used.
When the use is recording, other user can not call IVR access number.
Configure 1234 as call transfer number, and 1234 is local number for user
C.
Busy transfer
If some user has both call waiting and busy transfer, it only supports busy
transfer.

Voice Quality
In gateway, jitter buffer, echo counteraction and silent voice compression
have global and channel. The global configuration mains considers e1
calling.
The channel configuration is for line card channel, and each channel
configuration parameter is different. The channel configuration refers to
line card configuration.
Jitter Buffer
Configure jitter buffer time. When the voice packet order of receiving end
is different from sending end, the jitter appears. So to eliminate jitter, use
jitter buffer technology at receiving end.
The length of jitter buffer can be the maximum time of jitter buffer. For
example, configure jitter buffer length as 200ms, and the recevining end
can rearrange the order for voice packet and play it out.
Configuration command
Because MyPower VG M6000 and MyPower VG2000 adopt different DSP,
the configuration commands are different.
gateway (config-voice-service)#
Command Description
e1 jitterbuf<0-200> Configure jitter buffer length, and the range is from

The jitter buffer correlative with line card refers to FXS and FXO port
configuration information. MyPower VG2000 configuration command is in
voice service configuration mode:
gateway (config-voice-service)#

When the file transmission is finished, it will auto write to flash for
upgrade, when program updates success, use "Monitor:> run"for flash
system software program, and meanwhile disconnect in SecureCRT, and
change rate back to 9600. Reconnect it, to finish upgrade.
BR115200 is for enhancing transmitting rate and reduce the time. but this
kind method speed is too slow. This kind of upgrade is being used when
there is no application program or upgrade failure by adopting TFTP/FTP.
Make sure the routing between TFTP/FTP server and equipment can reach each
other
In the privileged mode, input sysupdate <pc IP address> <file name ((file
name).bin)>ENTER (for example: sysupdate 16.32.32.1 VPM6000-VG-
6.7.7.bin) if it is FTP upgrade, the user name and password need to be added
(for example: sysupdate 16.32.32.1 VPM6000-VG-6.7.7.bin ftp maipu 123)
After sending the file, restart the equipment by using reload or power off, and
then examine whether the upgrade is original via show version. Or you should
repeat step 3 and 4 till the success of upgrade.
The biggest difference for upgrade by using FTP and TFTP is that FTP
supports continuous transmission without online while TFTP doesn’t
support it. We suggest you adopt FTP method for remote upgrade or when
the line quality is not very good.
