Document Development Exposition: Instructions and Usability Test Script

Explain in detail your document’s development from planning to finish, describing your
challenges, how you overcame them, and what you learned.

Planning
When I was thinking of an Idea I went back to my roots, I love fishing and have taught many people
how to fish, and the number one thing that I learned while fishing was how important it is to get a
new line out before the fish are gone, I decided to use my favorite knot to teach, it is the most simple
and quickest. It also fits the assignment perfectly.

First Draft (for peer editing)

I sent in what I thought was a pretty good instruction list but it did have some flaws. I was low on
time and got it in with an above average amount of effort for a first draft. It followed the rules of the
assignment and did a good job with enough flaws that my partner could review them.

Second Draft (for your packet)

Saul did my peer review and he suggested that I add a small introduction for who, why and what the
instructions were about, I did just that. I added an introduction talking about what the instructions
were about. He also suggested some other things that I somewhat disagreed with so I didn't change
them like “Eye” of the hook. His reasoning was that it was a term most people wouldn't know but in
my view its the same as a sewing needle eye so it isn't as cryptic as he might think.

Final Draft (for your portfolio)

After reading the final suggested changes I changed them all to my knowledge, I used title
cases, punctuated all sentences , changed to numbered steps, and removed temporal words from the
step by step process. I didn't realize I made that many mistakes while writing it and were even
missed by my peer review.
