hen Susan Nelson and Robert Hart
discovered their home on celebrated
St. Charles Avenue in New Orleans’
Garden District, they immediately
decided its unadorned interiors needed
a facelift to complement its vibrant balcony views. Katie Logan
LeBlanc and Jensen Killen of Logan Killen Interiors fit the bill
for the redesign, with their dynamic aesthetic and signature flair
inspired by the spirited Crescent City surrounds.
“The condo was a blank slate, requiring little renovation and
mostly furnishings,” Katie says. “We wanted to reflect the style of
our clients, which was slightly more traditional, but still modern
and fresh. The house was very neutral, and we knew they wanted
a change. They wanted to make the space their own.”
To jump-start this personalization, the designers chose
a bold paint color for the home’s trim—Benjamin Moore’s
Knoxville Gray—and carried it throughout. “This highlighted
the architecture and immediately gave the condo a stately
feel,” Jensen says. They also decided to introduce a statement
wallpaper, presenting it in the first-story foyer and continuing
Jasmine pattern instills a unique yet timeless look with its two-
toned palette of lush, verdant hues. “We were thrilled because
those elements really transformed the space,” Katie says.
With the dark trim tying all the rooms together, the duo had
free rein to infuse the project with a range of color schemes
in the rest of the residence. In the living room, cool notes of
turquoise pop against warm neutrals and wood furnishings,
while richer hues emerge in the bedrooms through bright paint
colors, vintage bedding, and intriguing fixtures.
Throughout the condo, Katie and Jensen expertly mixed a
plethora of patterns along with eye-catching abstract art that
spans a kaleidoscopic spectrum—yet the results feel sleek rather
than scrambled. “The colorful art paired with the tailored palette
creates a nice balance, allowing the space to feel clean but also
somewhat playful,” Jensen says. “Color works best when it is
layered with other color—you just have to go for it.”
The designers enjoyed taking part in every detail of this
home’s transformation, “down to the kitchen towels and
bathroom soap dispensers,” Katie says. “We love when we can
bring finishing touches to a project because every last detail

 In the master bedroom (opposite), Katie and
Jensen brought in plenty of rich color, along
with vintage charm and modern pizzazz, to
create a welcoming retreat for the owners.
White bedding is accented with sunny Ghanaian
kente cloth, and creamy walls are dressed
with contemporary artwork. A cognac leather
tufted chaise atop a cowhide rug makes for a
comfortable corner with textural contrast. In the
guest room (right), a lively coral backdrop pairs
with more neutral furnishings—from a seagrass
headboard to a chic wooden side table. The
guest bathroom got a quick fix with a new
paint color on the cabinets, updated plumbing
fixtures, and a quaint rattan mirror.
