CHAPTER 1
THE PROBLEMS AND ITS SETTING

Introduction

Since the outbreak of the covid19 pandemic, one of most

processing research topics and around has been the introduction of

distance learning and development of online education. (zongko2022)

Some participants pointed out learner’s inability to concentrate in

the sessions due to many distraction they encountered and the

instructor lack of control in the online environment (kamble2021) lack

of knowledge, skill and device, internet connection, irrelevance and

issue with system access were the problem experienced by teachers

and student in covid19 pandemic. Learning outcome, and academic

achievement are some variable that are often object of study in

research. Especially research on education, these variables serve as a

benchmark change in behavior. Nevertheless. There is no similar

perception of the researchers especially in understanding the

terminology, and collecting data Methods on learning outcome

(Arjanggi&Suprihatin2010) Recently, the education system has faced

an unprecedented health crisis (COVID-19 pandemic) that has shaken

up its foundation. Thus, various governments across the globe have

launched a crisis response to mitigate the adverse impact of the

pandemic on education. This response includes, but is not limited to,

curriculum revisions, provision for technological resources and

infrastructure, shifts in the academic calendar, and policies on

instructional delivery and assessment. Inevitably, these developments

compelled educational institutions to migrate to full online learning until

face-to-face instruction is allowed. The current circumstance is unique

as it could aggravate the challenges experienced during online

learning due to restrictions in movement and health protocols

(Gonzales 2020). Given today’s uncertainties, it is vital to gain a

nuanced understanding of students’ online learning experience in

times of the COVID-19 pandemic. To date, many studies have

investigated this area with a focus on students’ mental health

(Copeland 20210)

SIGNIFICANT OF THE STUDY

Education a pivotal role in producing qualified human power that

accelerates economic development and solves the real problems of a

community. Students are also expected to spend much of their time on

their education and need to graduate with good academic results and

the parent area also affected because of financial problem and also a

teacher that more take the time to review and explain a everything

CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK
Our analyses also revealed that low-achieving students showed

greater improvements in performance than high-achieving students,

suggesting a narrowing gap in performance between low- and high-

achieving students. We conclude that online learning environments

may be effective in preventing educational losses associated with

current and future shutdowns of schools.

Semi-structured interviews can help us better comprehend the

practical aspects of our research (Catterall2000). Besides that, a semi-

structured interview is used to get additional particular information

regarding the study question (brand and Berg, 2000). To begin. The

information obtained from the interview has been analyzed in a

thematic manner. Thematic analysis is a method for systematically

analyzing qualitative data in depth. The information has been

transcribed first. After coding, some theme and sub-theme has been

2. What are the problems faced by student during pandemic in

selected student?

3. What is the impact of online learning on the academic performance

in selected student?

SCOPE AND DELIMINATION

This study focuses on what are the reasons why student in

academic performances. It is often that academic performances is

considered as one at the most major problem in school. Another limitation

of this was there are covered with in research focus on the senior high

school student of Malalag National High School.

HYPOTHESIS

Many studies indicated that the students were not particularly

enthusiastic about online learning as they preferred face-to-face

learning. The idea of virtual education met with less enthusiasm from

the students who reported a lack of motivation while studying online.

Such negative perceptions regarding online learning, theoretically, can

hamper the academic performance of students. Contrarily, some of the

students have shown improvement in their academic performance and

seem to have felt comfortable with the new and advanced methods of

learning.

REVIEWS OF RELATED STUDIES

According to (Agheie2019) previous studies, good study habits

include studying in a place, studying daily, turning off devices that

interfere with study (such as TV and mobile phones), taking notes of

important content, having regular rests and breaks, listening to soft music,

studying based on own learning style, and prioritizing the difficult contents

associate parental education level with academic success in students.

However, their results are significant for the education level of the mother

as well as the father. Additionally, they also reported significantly higher

academic performance in females and in students belonging to a higher

socioeconomic status

(Albert 2018) Several issues have also been known in association with

the low performance of the Philippines’ basic education system, such as a

significant proportion of out-of-school children

REVIEW OF RELATED STUDIES

Therefore, the purpose of this study is not to focus on the benefit

of teacher reflection or the use of reflection as self-evaluation, but
rather on reflection as a tool for improved student metacognitive
practices and academic performance as previously investigated with
success by Ash, Clayton, and Atkinson (2005); Lew and Schmidt
(2011); and—as specifically examined for underserved high school
populations such as the context for this study Cleary, Platte, and
Nelson (2008). This focus culminates in the research question for this
study:

According to (Palton1991) Several goals have been set by the

government associated with the implementation of the K-12 curriculum
as follows increase students’ preparation for higher education, equip
students’ with eligibility for entering domestic and overseas higher
educational institutions, and facilitate students’ immediate
employability upon graduation

K-12 is an educational program in the United States (US) from

performance following an SRC and even fewer have looked at the
impact on quality of life measures following an SRC in the school
environment. While we have a much more clear understanding of how
best to return athletes back to sports following an, our understanding
of how best to return student athletes back to learning is limited. Most
return to learn guidelines make general recommendations that do not
necessarily reflect the impact of multiple factors on the course of

understanding of the impact of on academic performance, the findings
from a limited number of studies support the importance of cognitive

environment for should not good continue to make forward in

developing and manage where those the identified needs and where

they are designed manage, however here some general

recommendations to consider.

1 .Be organize-use a daily planner. Input due dates assignments,

projects and exam as soon as you get them. These will help avoid

missed and hopefully assist in steering clear from procrastination

2. Learn good study habits- is a great resources you can create good

development

3. Take care of your self- eat health, get good sleep practice to

maintain a good balances

4. Know your available resources to you-meet with your academic

advisor to help with your assignment

5.Expand student awareness of the benefits- student should receive

and clear information from multiple campus sources so that they can
make well informed decisions about the learning environments to their

own learning and lives.
