Machine Guarding
It’s possible
“I’s possible !” ( running the lines with the machines fully guarded)
“At the beginning is painful for the Plant production and less efficient, but you are forced to solve the issues of
performance and is more efficient to start in a safe way than it was before”
“Employees know the risks but it’s normal for them to operate this way”
“ It’s important to recognize the workers that proposed solutions… 90% of the solutions implemented in Bailleul came
from employee’s ideas”
“ guarding without considering the exceptions doesn’t work… first assess if the exceptions can be eliminated, then install
guarding considering the remaining exceptions”
“ Is not only mechanical Guarding, there are also other risks that can arise during the process. is a holistic improvement;
electrical, access control, working procedures, training to employees …)
SAFETY improves Productivity
“0 tolerance – employees timelines to remove exceptions”
Make the right questions- are all those tasks needed?
Old machines and old guarded
Employees need to participate in Safety but we also have to add our piece in Machine guarding
