Class –IX
Session: 2023-24

Subject Homework

 Choose any author of your choice and read any of his or her works. Prepare a review of the
book you have chosen to read. Be prepared for an oral review of the book when you come
back. The book review will be verbally presented before the class after the summer break,
in July. You may speak for a minute. (10 marks)

Guidelines for writing a book review:


● Touch upon the background of the author.
● Give a brief summary of the book without mentioning too many details.
● Choose your favorite character and your favorite scene.
English
● Quote your favorite lines from the book.
● Would you recommend the book to your friends? Give reasons for your answer.
Rubrics: Content-5, Expression-5

 Prepare a Power Point presentation on the ‘Figures of Speech’ with examples to be taken
from the poem. There should be approximately 10-12 slides. (10 marks)
Rubrics: Content-4, Accuracy-3 and Presentation (Graphics, Sound and Animation)-3

 Revise the syllabus covered till 26 May for the Periodic Test-I to be conducted in the month
of July.
 Revise the sheets of Essential Words of April and May.
 Do the following activity in your English notebook: (10 marks)

Imagine that you are organizing a get together party to be held at your place. Also, write a diary
entry in not more than 120 words describing the fun you will have at the party. Underline all the
determiners which you will use after writing it.

ART-INTEGRATED ACTIVITY (Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat)


Under ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ you must get to know about a state that is quite different from
your own. Punjab has been paired with Odisha for this initiative. It’s a good opportunity for all of
you to explore the fascinating state of Odisha using the resources available on the internet. In
Maths this project you have to prepare a comparative analysis (with suitable graph or pictures) of Punjab
and Odisha on following topics:
1. Population.
2) Number of people above and below the poverty line as per the Govt. of India.
3) Literacy rate.
4) No of educational institutes.
5) Annual income through Tourism, Industry, Agriculture etc.
Project can be done in file, model, chart, Power point presentation or in any other creative and
innovative way.
Credit will be awarded to original ideas, illustrations and creative use of materials.
The project needs to be developed and presented in the below given order:
a) Cover page showing project title, student information, school and Academic year.
b) Index: list of contents with page numbers
c)Acknowledgements (acknowledging the institutions and persons who have helped).
d) The work is to be done in this sequence only.

2. Lab Activities:
(I) To construct a square root spiral. Represent root 5 on number line.
(ii) Verify the algebraic identity: (a + b + c)2 = a2 + b2 + c2 + 2ab + 2bc + 2ca.
(iii) To obtain the mirror images of given geometrical figure with respect to x-axis and y-axis.
3. Revise PA-1 syllabus through NCERT and Assignments uploaded on ERP.

1. Project Work Topic-Disaster Management


Sub-Topic: Earthquakes, Floods, Tsunami, Drought, Landslides. (Choose any one sub-topic)
Prepare a project file with following details:
The total length of the project work should not be more than 15 written pages of foolscap size (A4-
Size) sheet.
The project work should be handwritten and credit will be awarded to original drawings,
illustrations and creative use of eco-friendly material.
Social The project report should be presented in a neatly bound simple folder. The
Science project report should be developed and presented in this order:

a) Cover page showing project title, student information, school and year.
b) List of contents with page numbers.
c) Certificate page
d) Acknowledgement (acknowledgement the institutions, offices and libraries visited and
persons who have helped)
e) Meaning of Disaster Management
f) Objective of the study
g) Types of Disaster (Explain any one)
h) Prevention and Mitigation strategies
i) Recent Disaster in India (case study)
j) Conclusion based on findings
k) Bibliography: should have Title, author, publisher and if a website the name of the website
with the specific website link which has been used.
Marks Distribution
Total marks will be allotted over the different aspects of the project Work in the following manner:
1. Content accuracy, originality and Collaborative skills 2 Marks
2. Competencies exhibited and Presentation 2 Marks
3. Viva Voce 1 Mark

Topic: - Culture and Literature of Punjab & Orissa-Explore the Dazzling Heritage of Land
of Temples
Roll no. 1 to 15 (literature Activity)
a) Each Student will represent 1 Poet or author of Orissa and Punjab.
b) Collect the information regarding the novels and famous compositions of that poet.
c) Student will explain the character sketch of that Poet through a speech.
d) They will be asked to make a scrap book regarding famous composition and awards
won by that poet or writer.

Roll no. 16 to 30 (Culture and Heritage Activity)


a) Each Student will represent culture and traditions of Orissa and Punjab
b) Student will be asked to collect the information regarding the Folk dances, art and
painting, handicraft work, Festivals celebrated, historical monuments, food of Orissa
and Punjab)
c) Student will make a scrap book on rich cultural Heritage of Orissa and Punjab.

Punjab. ( Any One of the following Topic)

1.Physical Resource: Air, Water, Soil, Air for Respiration for Combustion
and Moderating Temperature, Movements of Air and its role in bringing rains
across in Odisha and Punjab.
2. Bio-geo chemical Cycle: Water, Oxygen, Carbon and Nitrogen
Science Objectives i) Understand meaning of Natural Resources .
ii) Correlate climatically condition in Odisha and Punjab.
iii) Differentiate between Rain fall pattern in Odisha and Punjab.
iv)Classify various Natural Resources.
v) Explain the principle of Bio-geo Chemical Cycle..
vi) Correlate Soil and water Resources.

v) Collect the data in Odisha and Punjab in year April 2000-April 2022 by
comparing Rain Fall pattern and impact on crops( Math’s).
vi) Introduction of Natural Resources and collect the data of soil type and
minerals in Odisha and Punjab
vii) Write any 5 Latest facts about “Natural Resources” in two state on the
basis of environmental condition. (Social Science).
