Romanticism

Aesthetic Design
Using the Romanticism aesthetic, we will design a print that could be used for
a phone cover, ipad case, wallpaper, living and decor items, bedding, notebook
covers, etc.

PART I
1. On Pinterest search; Romanticism, Romanticism Aesthetics, Romanticism
Wallpaper that show not only art from that period but contemporary prints,
patterns, portraits, colours that reflect it. Note key words that characterize
Romanticism such as: emotion, the individual, love, the exotic, grotesque,
mystery, fantasy, nature, glorification of the past, heroism, wild landscapes and
so on.

2. Create a Pinterest page filled with Romanticism-inspired images (minimum

10). Be sure to include some paintings from the Romantic era and images that
resonate that aesthetic (landscapes, florals, deep earth shades of colour, blend-
ing of lines)

PART II
3.Design an A4 size digital or physical painting or drawing (in colour).
If digital, use apps such as: GIMP, Canva, ProCreate , Affinity Photo, Rebelle.
It can be a fusion of painting/drawing on paper and digital collage elements.

4. Write a description of your design (1 page). List the elements in your design
and the reasons behind your choices. In what ways do they relate and reflect
the style of the Romantic era. Additionally, list your creative process.

5. Using apps such as Spoonflower or Casetify we will upload your design to

the surface of a selected product.
