DESIGN A ‘FIRST AMERICANS’ GAMEBOARD Illustrated samples of the elements you need to add:

1. Choose a layout (I have printed out templates for you)

2. Fill in the spaces and the background with elements from the
life of the Native American peoples (Hopi, Iroquois, Makah, Mandan, Creek)

3. Here is what must be incuded in your gameboard:

• 3 regions where they settled (coast, plains, desert, forests) 10pts

• 5 things they made : kachina dolls, bowls, baskets, lacrosse ball and stick,
harpoons, spears, cradleboards, canoes, clothing, headresses, boxes, totem
poles, false face masks, rugs, jewelry ... 10pts

• 3 homes they built: longhouses, adobe pueblos, earth lodges, tepees, cliff dwell-
ings, willow huts.. 10pts

• 3 Animals they hunted and 3 foods they grew: corn (different colours), ber-
ries, buffalo, deer, whales, seals... 10pts
• + 10pts clear, colourful, creative.
