Module 1: introducing youself and others

Material Converage:
Learning how to introduce yourself to a newn friend or a
neighbor is absolutely vital if you want start things on a
posotive note-especially if you are moving into a new
environment with new friends or neighbors.
Actifity 1
Look at the picture.Read and remember the following
information.
There are two ways of introducing yourself to other.The first
one is formal introduction and the second is informal
introduction.
You should introduce yourself formally to someone who is
older than you or to someone that we respect in a formal
meeting/situation.

Activity 2
Introducing other or being introduced by others
When you introduce someone to someone else,adjust the
introduction with the situation (formal or informal situations
). You should also adjust the responses using formal or formal
responses.
Actifity 3
You should speak aloud to get the competence of introducing
oneself and others.you should practise using gestures as well.
(shake hands,reffering to someone,etc).
Work with your friends.practise the dialouge below.
X:Hello,I am Crisnani.I am from class 1A.nice to meet you.
Y:Hi,I am Yulianto.I belong to class 1D.PLEASE call me Yan.
Actifity 4
The teacher will invite you to ask question to her.One
student should make one question about herself or about
anything that you want to knou...(Her
family,favorite/hobbies,address,your/her school,her
childhood,how to learn English,and many other things).
Exampels of question:
-May I know your name?
-Where do you live?
-whats your hobby?
-what is your favourite food/drink/book/song...etc
-Ask about family,brithday,etc.
Activity 5
Ex:
1.My name is Tya Puspa. I am a student. I am noy a
teacher.
2. you are on time. You are not late.
Activity 9
Work in a group of four,practice introducing someone to
someone else in these situation (formal or formal).
1. You introduce your friend to the school principal.
2. You introduce your new teacher to your friend in
front of the class.
3. You introduce your classmate to you friend from the
other class.
4. You are being introduced to your classmate.
Activity 10
In this activity you will hear a question spoken in english,
followed by three responses,also spoken in english. The
question and the responses will be spoken just one time.
They are not written in your book,therefore you must listen
carefully to understand what the teacher says. You must
choose the best response to each question.
Activity 11
In this activty you will hear short conversations between two
people. The conversation will not be written in your book.
You will hear the conversations only once,therefore you must
listen carefully.

Activity 12
You will hear to the information about someone. It will be
spoken twice. Listen carefully in order to understand and
remember what is said.
In your book you will read three question about each short
talk. The questions will be followed by four answer.

Module 2: fantastic! You’ve done your job


well.

Material Converage:
There’s nothing like a warm, sincere compliment to make
your day. Instead of waiting for one, why not give one out?
The more you give, the more you find you’ll receive.
Activity 1
Listen to the expressions used for giving compliments to
others.

Activity 2
Now, listen to the expressions use for responding to the
compliments.
- It’s very kind of you to say so.
- Thank you.
- I can say how pleased (delighted) i am.
- I’m delighted to hear that.
- Thanks for your compliment.

Activity 11
Now give compliments based on the following situation.
1. Your friend’s bag is new and beautiful.
2. You friend’s looks great in her/his new uniform.
3. You friend’s hand writing is so neat and tidy.
4. You friend’s has told about her good score on the
english test.
5. Your friend’s has done her homework completely.

Modul 3: Are you sure,you’re OK?


Material Converage:
If you want to show your care or sympathy,consider the
following: put yourself in the other person’s position and let
them know that know you care and that you are avaible to
help in any way that you can.
Activity 1
Listen to some expressions to show sympathy and the
responses. Repeat after it! Expressions to show sympathy:
-are you sure, you’re OK?
-is anything the metter?

Module 4: I am going to be a successful


manager
Material Converage:
When we talk about hopes,expectation,ideal and dreams to
come true in the future, we use auxiliaries will and the 1st
form of the verbs. We can also use to be (is/am/are) going to
and the 1st form of the verbs.
Activity 1
Work with your partner. Look at the pictures. Tell your friend
how you are going to get ahead the coming years.
Activity 2
When we talk about activities for the future,we use to be
going to or will before the V1. The time signal of the futures
are: tonight,tomorrow,the next day,nex week/month/next
Tuesday,in the coming week/month/year,etc.
Activity 3
The negative sentence of the future tense is made by adding
not after to be will.
For ex:
1. + I am going to write a letter toninght.
- I am not write a letter tonight.
2. + my mother will buy new furniture tomorrow.
- My mother will not/won’t buy new furniture tomorrow.

Module 5: Congratulations! You’ve passed the


exams outstandingly
Material Converage:
Taking the time to send a congratulation note, whether it’s
for a new job or a promotion or a job well done, is terrific for
networking and relationship buillding.

Module 6: My memorable experiences.


Material Converage:
When we talk about our experience or other’s experiences
we used the 2st form of verbs. The simple past is used for
describing acts that have already been concluded and whose
exact time of occurrence is known.

Module 7: HOW DOES IT LOOK LIKE?


(DESCRIBING THINGS/PLACES)
When you describe about things,you should explain about
the shape,size,colour,weight,neasurement,materials,price
etc. When you describe about places you should explain
about the interesing things that we can find in that place. You
may add more information about the situation and
conditions.

Module 8: DESCRIBING PEOPLE


Material Converage:
When you describe about someone, you should tell the
facts,or particulars; about the physical appearance and his
significant character. (You may add more information about
him/her, to convey an idea or impression and so on)
Activity 1
Listen and repeat the adjective to describe a person’s
physical appearance. To find the meaning, consult your
dictionary).
