SERVICE INSTRUCTION
No. 111
Design Organisation Approval No. AS-SI/20/005 dated 15 December 2020
1. GENERAL
1.2 PURPOSE
The purpose of this document is to supply the instructions needed to install the BF Goodrich
Electrothermal Propeller De-Icing System 7E1456 on the existing propellers Hartzell HC-
B3TF-7A/T10173F(B)(N)-21R and spinner Hartzell 835-39(P).
1.3 DESCRIPTION
The modification of the existing propellers described hereto permits the installation and use of
BF Goodrich Electrothermal Propeller De-Icing System 7E1456 on AP68TP-600 Viator and
AP68TP-300 Spartacus aircraft.
The BF Goodrich propeller de-icer is electrically heated and protected by fabric and rubber
plies that resist to oil, erosion and abrasion. It is bonded on propeller blades.
Electrically heated prop de-icers, combined with the centrifugal force of rotating propeller and
the airstream, remove accumulated ice.
To conserve power and effectively remove ice, the de-icers are heated in timed intervals in
specific sequence.
The installation of Kit SI111/A or Kit SI111/B must be carried out, in accordance with the
Figure No.2 or No.3, as applicable.

accordance with relevant instructions detailed in the Part A, B and C of para.2 hereunder:
• Part A: Aircraft preparation.
• Part B: Installation of Electrothermal Propeller De-Icing System 7E1456.
• Part C: Aircraft airworthiness restoring.
2. WORK PROCEDURE
WARNING
This instruction calls for the use of substances
and/or procedures that may be injurious to health if
adequate precautions are not taken.
This instruction refers only to technical suitability
and in no way absolves the Operator from statutory

personnel authorized to work on powerplant.
WARNING
Read the entire procedure and the latest
applicable revision of reference documents to
make sure you have a complete understanding of
the requirements.
WARNING
Take care to not damage the near structures and
systems when performing the following procedure.
CAUTION
Take care to disconnect the aircraft battery before
proceeding.
NOTE
When complying with the work procedure, all the
components and/or attaching items removed from the
aircraft and requiring reinstallation, must be
properly labelled and stored in a reserved area;
replace them, if not efficient.
NOTE
The discarded materials and fluids used during the
maintenance activities should be disposed of in
accordance with applicable regulations.
NOTE
The information provided hereunder are for initial
installation of Electrothermal Propeller De-Icing
System 7E1456.
Some procedures may be not applicable for the
components’ replacement.
1. Modify the spinner bulkhead as per Figure 1 to accept slip ring and other components.
2. Remove spinner bulkhead from propeller in accordance with the applicable Hartzell Propeller
Maintenance Manual # 118.
3. Install the spinner bulkhead, after its modification, on the propeller in accordance with the
applicable Hartzell Propeller Maintenance Manual # 118.
4. Install the de-icers on the propeller blades in accordance with Goodrich document ATA 30-60-07
“Removal and Installation Manual Electrothermal Propeller De-Icers”.
WARNING
It is the operator’s responsibility to fully know the
warnings and cautions used in the Goodrich
document ATA 30-60-07.
Failure or damage to the equipment can occur if
the warnings and cautions are not appropriately
followed.
5. Use the Goodrich document ATA 30-60-02 “Installation and Maintenance Manual for Prop De-
Icing Systems” and the Figures 2 and 3 reported hereunder in order to perform the propeller
completion and install the following items:
• Balance weight, if necessary
• Restrainer clamps (item 4 - tie strap)
• Timer BF Goodrich 1E1964-3 (item 23)
• Shunt (item 24 or item 25, as applicable)
• Ammeter, switch, circuit breaker
• Brush assembly mounting bracket
• Slip ring and related connecting hardware
6. Once the slip ring and the related connecting hardware installation has been correctly
concluded, the pertinent slip ring run-out (alignment) must be performed in accordance with
Goodrich document ATA 30-60-02.
7. Install the propeller on aircraft in accordance with the concerning procedure reported into the
applicable AMM.
8. Use the Goodrich document ATA 30-60-02 “Installation and Maintenance Manual for Prop De-
Icing Systems” and the Figure 4 reported hereunder in order to perform the brush assembly
installation.
9. Use the recommendations included inside the Goodrich document ATA 30-60-02 “Installation
and Maintenance Manual for Prop De-Icing Systems” and follow the existing wiring harness
installation on aircraft, in order to perform the correct routing and the correct electrical
connections (refer to Figure 5 below).
10. Once all wiring harness routing and electrical connections have been correctly concluded, a
post-installation inspection must be performed in accordance with Goodrich document ATA 30-
60-02 “Installation and Maintenance Manual for Prop De-Icing Systems”.
NOTE
