Pedagogy Planning

• In this activity, my students are going to use Buncee to create a slide presentation
of animal’s characteristics and their habitats.
Activity
• The students will investigate and understand that animals,
including humans, have basic life needs that allow them to survive.
In order for students to meet this standard they will be expected
to describe the life needs of animals/suitable place to live, identify
characteristics, distinguish between wild and tame animals, types
of animals' homes using physical characteristics, and classify
animals where they live (their homes).
• The students will be introduced to the lesson by the teacher first
asking the students if they can provide some examples of a tame
and wild animal, then allow the students to give a brief description
of why they think this. Then the teacher will ask the students to
demonstrate a few animals such as: bird, dog, fish, and penguin.
The teacher will give a brief description of how important body
coverings and specific characteristics are to animals for a suitable
environment. Next, the teacher will provide a YouTube Video for
the students to watch
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qlbcCSd868). Following the
video, the teacher will hand out a worksheet where the students
will match the animal pictures on one side to the correct habitat.
For an at-home project, the student with the help of his/her
parents will be creating a slide presentation using Buncee through
the website or the app.

The at home project presentation should include the following:

1) Create a Title Slide
2) Create the next seven slides as the habitats and characteristics
where animals live (different habitats per slide).
3) Each slide should include animals that live in that specific habitat.
Its associated characteristics with words and images to go alone
with them.
a) Example: Fish, fish live in the ocean and their gills
help them breathe underwater. They cannot survive
on land. Fish can be wild or tamed.
b) Example: Polar Bears, polar bears live in the cold
and have fur to help them survive cold
temperatures. They are not sustained for hot

temperatures. Polar bears are wild. (include images)

4) Your last slide should include what kind of habitat you live in and
what other animals live around you. Are they tamed or wild?
