METHOD

This chapter clearly defines the research methods used in the conduct of the study. The

research explains how the necessary data and information address the research objectives, and

questions were collected, presented, and analyzed. Reasons and justification for the Research

Design, Respondents of the study, Locale of the study, Sampling technique, Research

Instrument, Data gathering procedure, and Data analysis used are given.

Research Design

The study used descriptive research design to achieve the purpose of this study. It was

taken as an approach to generate results, and it can be very helpful for the researcher to

determine the learning strategies used by the Grade 12 Humss Students of Notre Dame

University. This study described the learning strategies of students during online and face to face

classes with the use of survey questionnaires. It helped the researchers to portray an accurate

profile of the respondents and their strategies. It allows in-depth analysis of the gathered data that

will answer the presented statement of the problem.

Locale of the Study

This study was conducted at Notre Dame University Senior High School located at Notre

Dame Avenue, Rosary Heights 2, Cotabato City, 9600 Maguindanao, Philippines.

selected to comprise the sample population, which is 80 respondents.

Intrumentation

A survey questionnaire was made by the researchers and used as the main data collection

instrument for this study. The questions were consist of 2 parts: the first part about the learning

strategies in online learning, the second part about the learning Strategies in face to face learning.

There are 10 questions in one parts a total of 20 questions in two parts. We used liker scale

method in the survey questionnaire to specify the learning strategies of the respondents to the

statement.

Data Gathering Procedure

Survey questionnaire was made and was submitted to the research adviser for correction

and approval. Before gathering a survey, approval letter was submitted to the Senior High School

principal that permit the researchers to conduct a survey. Stratified Sampling was used by the

researchers to identify the respondents. The researchers provided a questionnaire to identified the

grade 12 Humss students as the respondents of the study. Researchers give the questionnaires

through face to face and facilitated the retrieval of responses. After conducting a survey, data

were compiled, analyzed, and interpreted through numerical analysis.

Statistical Treatment/Data Analysis

The data gathered from the respondents of the survey questionnaires will be analyzed and

interpreted through statistical tool. Weighted mean and standard deviation will be employed to

determine and the learning strategies of senior high school students in Notre Dame University

under the track of Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS). In order to have a more specific

interpretation of each item on the questionnaire, the following mean ranges were assigned to the

scale.
