Eat Right Campus.
Why in News - Nawada Mandal Jail has
become the first jail in the state whose kitchen
has been given the Eat Right Campus
certificate.
Key Points-
 The Food Safety Standards Authority of India
(FSSAI) has issued a certificate for providing
quality food to prisoners and better maintenance
of food items.
 About Eat Right Mission – In order to ensure
availability of healthy, clean and nutritious food
to the people, Ministry of Human Resource and
Family Welfare and Food Safety Standards
Authority of India has started Eat Right Campus
in 2018 under Eat Right India Mission.
2. Construction of six new ropeways in Bihar.
Why in News - In the financial year 2022-
23, the work of construction of six new ropeways
like Rajgir and Banka in Bihar would be completed.
Main points-
 It includes Pretshila mountain of Gaya,
Dungeshwari mountain and Brahmayoni
mountain along with Vanavar mountain of
Jehanabad, Mundeshwari mountain of Kaimur
and Rohtasgarh fort.
 Other points- Apart from this, for the prosperous
development of Bodh Gaya, the Government of
Bihar has a plan to construct 72 acres of land in
Gaya as a land bank. Along with this, a giant
statue of Lord Buddha would be installed on
the Dungeshwari mountain of Gaya and Lord
Vishnu in the Falgu river.
3. 6 cities of Bihar to become model town.
Why in News - On February 28, 2022,
Finance Minister of Bihar Tarkishore Prasad
presented his second budget 2022–23). The
government has announced to develop six cities
in Bihar as model towns.

 These include Muzaffarpur, Bihar Sharif,
Munger, Supaul, Bodh Gaya and Rajgir. Along
with making these cities clean and garbage free,
infrastructure urban infrastructure would be

4. Appointment of two new State Information
Commissioners in Bihar.
Why in the News - The state government
has appointed two new State Information
Commissioners.
Key Points-
 It include retired judge Phool Chandra
Chaudhary and recently retired IAS officer
Tripurari Sharan from the post of Chief
Secretary.
 About State Information Commission- It is
constituted by the State Government. It consists
of a Chief Information Commissioner and a
maximum of 10 State Information Commissio-
ners to be appointed by the Governor on the
recommendation of the Appointments Committee
headed by the Chief Minister.
5. According to the Supreme Court, blacksmiths
would not be considered ST in Bihar.
Why in the News - The Supreme Court has
given an important decision related to the
blacksmith caste in Bihar.
Key Points-
 The court has quashed the Bihar government's
notification for grant of Scheduled Tribe (ST)
certificate of Lohar caste and observed that
blacksmiths do not come under ST caste in Bihar.
The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh on
the Bihar government.
Other points-
 Also, the court made it clear that the Lohara
community comes under the ST category, not the
blacksmiths.

 Prior to this, the Supreme Court has said in its
three decisions - Nityanand Sharma in 1996,
Vinay Prakash Sharma in 1997 and Prabhat
Kumar Sharma in 2006 that blacksmiths come
in the OBC category, not ST in Bihar.
6. Bihar's organic products got a special award.
Why in the News - Bihar's organic products
received a distinguished award at the Agro and
World Organic Expo 2022 held at Nehru Center
in Mumbai.
Key Points-
 15 farmers and officials who benefited from
organic adoption and certification under the
Organic Corridor Scheme of Bihar, participated
in this international expo organized for the
promotion of organic farming. These farmers
displayed unique organic products.
Other points-
 Seven countries of the world, 13 states of India
and hundreds of institutions related to organic
farming participated in the expo. The organic
products of Bihar were declared the best in the
expo.
7. Nari Shakti Puraskar to Anita Gupta of Bihar.
Why in News- On March 08, 2022, President
Ram Nath Kovind presented Nari Shakti
Puraskar to 29 women of the country. The first
award was given to Anita Gupta, a resident of
Bhojpur in Bihar.
Key Points-
 He was awarded this award for the year 2020.
The award for the year 2020 was not presented
due to the Corona pandemic.
 Anita Gupta is a social entrepreneur. After
witnessing domestic violence, she formed Chhav
for rural women. Through this image, 500 self-
help groups were established. Apart from providing
education to adults by organizing health check-
up camps, she is making rural women self-reliant
by providing vocational training. He has trained
more than 50,000 women.
8. Tea cultivation increased two thousand times
in 30 years in Kishanganj.
Why in the News- This time the cultivation of
tea has been included by the Bihar government

under the special crop development scheme.
Farmers planting tea plants would get 50%
subsidy. The government has a target of 75
hectares in Kishanganj.
Key point-
 Kishanganj is the only district of Bihar, where
tea is cultivated.
 The area under tea cultivation, which started
from five acres in the year 1992, has increased to
10,000 acres today.
 Presently 09 private and one government tea
processing plants are running in the district.
9. 'Poshan Laddu' for malnourished children.
Why in News- In spite of nutritional laddus
being given earlier in Bihar not much changed
in the situation of malnutrition. Directorate of
Integrated Child Development has decided to
purchase additional nutritious laddus.
Key Points-
 Through the Directorate of Integrated Child
Development Services, nutritious laddus would
be given to the highly malnourished children
attached to the Anganwadi centers of the state
to deal with malnutrition.
Other points-
 There are a total of 4.70 lakh highly malnourished
children in the state and 1.14 lakh Anganwadi
centers across the state.
9. Bihar's first river linking project.
Why in the News - Recently, during the
discussions on the budget, Bihar's Water Resources
Minister Sanjay Kumar Jha told that by the end
of the year 2022, the work on the plan to connect
the Bagmati river with the old Gandak would
be completed.
Key Points-
 This is the first river interlinking project of Bihar.
Four districts would get direct benefit from this
scheme. There would be protection from floods
in Sheohar, Sitamarhi, East Champaran and
Muzaffarpur. Also, irrigation facility would be
available in a large area. This plan is being
worked on in two phases. For this, work is being
done on Belvadhar scheme located in Sheohar
district.

 Other River Interlinking Schemes Proposed in
Bihar.
(1) Kosi Mechi Link- Clearance has been
received from the Centre. Supaul, Saharsa,
Araria, Kishanganj and Purnia would benefit
from the implementation of the scheme.
(2) Kohra-Chandrawat Link, Kosi-Ganga Link,
Bagmati-Ganga, Punpun-Harohar (proposed),
Budhi Gandak-Noon Baya have been handed
over to the Centre.
 Completed and ongoing river linking projects in
the country- Godavari Krishna-Pennar, Nagarjuna
Sagar-Somasila, Ken-Betwa, Kaveri-Vagai-Gunder,
Polavaram-Vijayawada (all under construction).
10. Construction of rubber dam in Falgu river of Gaya.
Why in the News- Bihar's Water Resources
Minister Sanjay Jha informed that the construction
of rubber dam in Falgu river located in Gaya would
be completed before the Pitru Paksha to be held in
the month of August.
Key Points-
 After the construction of this dam, the availability
of water in the Falgu river would remain same. Along
with this, supply of drinking water would start in
Bodh Gaya, Rajgir and Nawada under Ganga
Water Supply Scheme by June.
11. Establishment of Overseas Planning Bureau.
Why in the News- On March 10, 2022, Bihar's
Labor Resources Minister Jivesh Kumar announced
the establishment of 'Cross-sea Planning Bureau'.
Key Points-
 This bureau would be set up to facilitate the
workers going for work in other countries. This
bureau would not only help the workers to go
abroad but also find work for them.
Other points-
 Bihar is at number two in the whole country in
terms of registration on e-shram portal.
12. 25 thousand to girls who pass class 12.
Why in News- Bihar government would now
give 25 thousand rupees as incentive to all
unmarried girls who pass class 12. Till now this
amount was 10 thousand.

13. Tallest statue of Lord Buddha in sleeping posture
in Bodh Gaya.
Why in News - The tallest statue of Lord
Buddha in sleeping posture is being constructed in
Bodh Gaya, Bihar.
Key Point-
 In the year 2019, Buddha International Welfare
Mission had laid the foundation for its construction.
This is becoming the world's tallest statue of Lord
Buddha in the sleeping posture. The length of this
statue would be 100 feet and height 30 feet. This
statue is being made from fiberglass. Famous
sculptor Mintu Paul is making this statue. It would
be inaugurated in February 2023.
Other point-
 Lord Buddha had told in this posture before
Mahaparinirvana that he would leave the world
after three years. Lord Buddha attained
Mahaparinirvana at the age of 80 in Kushinagar,
UP.
14, Patna IIT developed suitcase inverter.
Why in News - Recently, IIT Patna has
developed a battery management system that
works even in -19 degree temperature and a
Lithium battery operated suitcase inverter.
Key Points-
 It is the first of its kind developed inverter in the
country. It would be available to the public from
next month.
 Features of Inverter- It would work even in -19oC
in a places like Ladakh, would last longer than
normal battery, would not emit dangerous fumes
and also does not require water. Its radiator,
transformer and circuit are made in India.
15. 15-day Bihar festival begins in Delhi.
Why in the News - The 15-day Bihar festival
has started from March 16 to March 31, 2022 in
Dilli Haat.

Main point-
 This festival is organized every year on the occasion
of Bihar Day. 59 stalls of famous handloom and
handicrafts of Bihar have been set up in Bihar Utsav
2022 in which the famous Bhagalpuri silk and the
famous handicrafts and handicrafts of Bihar have
been displayed.
 Through this festival, the artists of Bihar get the
opportunity of selling cum exhibition and
marketing of their handloom and handicraft
products.
16. Bihar has the highest quota in housing scheme.
Why in the News- Bihar has got the highest
quota in the country under the Pradhan Mantri
Awas Yojana in the budget of 2022-23.
Key Points-
 Bihar has been given a quota of 11.49 lakh houses
in the PM Awas Yojana in the financial year 2022-
23, which is more than states like Uttar Pradesh
and West Bengal. For this, the central government
would give Rs 13,800 crore.
 The Bihar government is also giving 50 thousand
rupees for the repair of houses built before March
31, 2010. Apart from this, the Bihar government
is providing Rs 1.20 lakh to those who took the
benefit of the housing scheme before January 01,
1996. Bihar is the first state in the country to do so.
17. Increase in the period of Mukhyamantri
Nischay Swayam Sahayata Bhatta Yojana.
Why in News - Recently, the Bihar
government has announced to extend the period
of 'Mukhyamantri Nischay Swayam Sahayata
Yojana' for the next five years i.e. till the financial
year 2025-26.
 About the scheme- The state government had
started the Mukhyamantri Nischay Swayam
Sahayata Bhatta Yojana on October 02, 2016 to
provide financial assistance to unemployed
youth. Its period was ending in March of the
current financial year 2021-22. Under this
scheme, there is a provision to provide 12th pass
unemployed youth of 20-25 years to find
employment at the rate of one thousand rupees
per month for a maximum period of two years.

18. Bypass in eight and Ring Road would be
constructed in four cities of Bihar.
Why in the News- Bihar's Road Construction
Minister Nitin Naveen recently informed under
the budget proposal of the Road Construction
Department that bypasses and ring roads would
be constructed in four cities of Bihar.
Key Points-
 Gaya, Darbhanga, Bhagalpur and Muzaffarpur
have been selected for the construction of Ring
Road in addition to Patna. The areas marked for
bypass construction are-
1. Kurtha Bypass in Arwal District
2. Kataiyya Bypass in Gopalganj District
3. Ramashish Chowk to Dighi Bypass in Vaishali

constructed at nine places with the loan amount
of Asian Development Bank.
19. 9th Bihar Entrepreneurship Conference.
Why in News - The 9th Bihar Entrepreneurship
Conference was organized by Bihar Entrepreneur
Association on March 21, 2022 in Patna.
Key Points-
 The conference was inaugurated by the Industries
Minister of Bihar, Shahnawaz Hussain.
 The aim of this conference is to help the
entrepreneurs of Bihar to get connected with the
global market.
 It also aims to help in connecting with new
technology.
20. 100% exemption in land registry for setting up
industries.

Why in the News - Now private investors
need not pay registration and stamp duty
on industrial plots in Bihar or land taken for
setting up industries outside BIADA.
Key Points -
 Also, the registration fee for the documents of
the land allotted by the state government to
BIADA would also not be charged. The Liquor
Prohibition Excise and Registration Department
has given 100% rebate in this duty. This
notification would be effective till March 31, 2025.
20. Bihar Day
Why in News - Bihar is celebrating its 110th
anniversary. On 22 March 1912, Bihar was
carved out of the Bengal Presidency as a new
state. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated
this three-day event.
 Various celebrations were organized in all the
districts of the state regarding Bihar Day based
on the theme 'Jal Javeen-Hariyali'.
21. Simultaneous display of five hundred drones.
Why in News - For the first time, 500 drones
were demonstrated simultaneously at Gandhi
Maidan.
Key Points–
 Information about the heritage of Bihar
was given through laser show.
 At the same time, a book fair was organized by
the National Book Trust and the Bihari cuisine
fair was organized by the tourism department.
 For the first time in Bihar, Patna Haat was built
in Gandhi Maidan on the lines of Dilli Haat,
which is the main attraction center for the visitors.
 Handicrafts and other items related to Bihar were

22. Anita Kumari of Bihar Sharif receives Woman
Transforming India Awards.
Why in News - Anita Kumari of Biharsharif,

Company Limited, is among the 75 women who
have been honored by NITI Aayog as Woman
Transforming India. 75 women were honored in
the 75th year of India's independence.

23. Benefit of child support scheme to 69 children.
Why in News- Recently, Social Welfare
Minister Madan Sahni informed the assembly
that the state government is giving the benefit of
child support scheme to 69 children orphaned
by Corona.
Key points-
 Under this, Rs. 1500 are being given to them
per month. Along with this, two thousand
rupees are also being received from PM CARES
Fund.
24. The number of tigers in VTR at present is 31.
Why in News - The number of tigers in
Valmikinagar Tiger Reserve (VTR) in Bihar is
currently 31.
Key points-
 In the year 2006, the number of tigers here was
only 10. However, eight tigers have died here
within the last three years.
25. Ayushman card would be made for 74 lakh
families.
Why in the News- The government would
soon take the cooperation of Jeffer and Color Plast
Agency to connect 74 lakh families of the state
with Ayushman Yojana and provide them
golden cards.
Key Points-
 According to the Health Department, under
Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya
Yojana, one crore 29 thousand families in rural
areas and 8.65 lakh families in urban areas have
been identified as eligible beneficiaries for this
scheme. Of these, 34.38 lakh families have been
made golden cards so far.
26. National Award to DM of Gaya and East
Champaran.
Why in News - Recently, the DM of Gaya
and East Champaran of Bihar was honored with
the National Award.
Key Points-
 Gaya district was awarded the National Water
Award for remarkable work in the field of water-
life greenery and East Champaran district was
awarded the best district of Eastern Region at
the national level for its better efforts in the field
of water conservation and management.

 The present district magistrates of Gaya and East
Champaran, Dr. Thiagarajan SM and Shishit
Kapil Ashok respectively, received this honor.
 Gaya district has got this honor for the structure
built for rain water conservation in Telari
Panchayat of Neemchak Bathani block. Due to
being a hilly and dry area, the construction of
water structure in Telari Panchayat has gone
through a difficult process. In this project, ready
in 10 months, a special structure has been made
for the harvesting of rain water in about 95 acres
of the mountain. Telari Panchayat has been
adjudged as the Best Village Panchayat East Zone,
which would be one for the country along with Bihar.
27. Lok Nirmala Samman to folk singer Dr Sharda
Sinha.
Why in News - On March 30, 2022, Lok
Nirmala Samman ceremony was organized by
cultural organization Sonchiriya in the premises
of Sangeet Natak Akademi located in Gomtinagar,
Uttar Pradesh.
Key Points-
 Governor Anandiben Patel, the chief guest in this
program, honoured folk singer Dr. Sharda Sinha
with Lok Nirmala Samman 2022. As a mark of
respect, she was presented a memento,
angavastra and a check of one lakh rupees.
 About Sharda Sinha- Sharda Sinha is a popular
singer from Bihar. She hails from Begusarai
district. Apart from Maithili, Bajjika, Bhojpuri,
he has sung Hindi songs. For folk songs, she has
been honored with 'Bihar Nightingale', 'Padma
Shri' and 'Padma Bhushan'.
28. Bihar's Bhola Singh's new national record in
weightlifting.
Why in News- Bhola Singh of Bihar has won
the gold medal by creating a national record in
the sub-junior national weightlifting competition
being held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
Key Points-
 Bhola Singh lifted 126 kg in snatch while lifting
150 kg in clean and jerk and created a national
record by lifting 276 kg in total weight. He has
broken the record of Akash Kaushal of Madhya
Pradesh, who was of 274 kg. Bhola is a resident
of Jehanabad district.

29. Indigo cultivation in Champaran after 105
years of Satyagraha.
Why in News- After about 105 years of
Champaran Satyagraha, indigo cultivation is
going to start again in Bihar.
Key Point-
 During the British period, indigo cultivation used
to be a symbol of oppression and exploitation.
But with the changing contexts of the present
farmers would get a chance to start its cultivation
for prosperity.
 Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Piprakothi would provide
indigo saplings to the interested farmers. After
the agreement with the government, Kerala's
indigo company would buy dry leaves of indigo
plant at the rate of about Rs 60 per kg.
30. Former Bihar minister R K Rana passed away.
Why in News- Former Bihar minister R K Rana
who was convicted in the fodder scam case
passed away. A special CBI court has arrested
R K Rana in a case of illegal withdrawal of more
than Rs. 39 crore from Dorang's exchequer in
the fodder scam. R K Rana and Lalu Yadav were
sentenced to five years imprisonment.
31. Bihar's first plastic recycling plant to be built
in Samastipur.
Why in News - Under the Center's Swachh
Bharat Mission, an ambitious plan has been
prepared to make the country's rural and urban
areas free from plastic waste, under which a
recycling plant would be built for waste plastic
waste management in Samastipur in Bihar.

Why in discussion- The Union Minister of Health
and Family Welfare,Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya on
26 February launched the National Polio
Vaccination Campaign for 2022 .
Key Points-
 This universal immunization program is focusing
on protecting children from more diseases than
ever before. The government has also introduced
an " Additional Inactivated Polio Vaccine " for
children.
 Mission Indradhanush was launched with an
aim to fully immunize over 89 lakh children who
have been either partially vaccinated or
unvaccinated under VIP.
Other points-
 Polio National Immunization Day 2022
was organized on February 27, 2022.
2. 20% FDI allowed in LIC
Why in the discussion - On February 26, 2022,
Union Cabinet has allowed20 percent Foreign
Direct Investment in the upcoming IPO of LIC.
Key Points-
 The purpose of this decision is to make the process
of disinvestment of the country's largest insurance
companysmooth.
 There is no clear provision regarding foreign
investment in LIC in the present FDI rules. The
reason for this is that the operation of LIC is done
through LIC Act 1956 .
 In the subject of LIC - Life Insurance Corporation
of India (LIC) is the largest life insurance
company in India and also the largest investor
company in the country. It is wholly owned by
the Government of India. It was established in
the year 1956 and its headquarter is in Mumbai.

MSME RuPay Credit Card in a two-day MSME
conference held at Sindhudurg on February 25,
2022 .
Key Points-
 This card has been Introduced by Union Bank of
Indiain collaboration with Payments Corporation
of India. This card provides a simplified payment
system to the micro , small and medium enterprises
to meet the operating expenses related to his
business.
4. 3.7% increase in the output of the 8 core sectors
Why in discussion - According to the official
data of the Government of India released on
February 28, 2022, the production of eight basic
sectors registered a growth of 3.7 percent in
January 2022 .
Key Points -
 The report showed positive growth in all sectors
except crude oil and fertilisers. In the same period
as of the last financial year
 11.6%growth has been registered during April-
January 2021-22.
Other points -
 8 basic sectors are - coal , crude oil , natural gas ,
refinery products , fertilisers , steel , cement and
electricity. According to the data, in January,
coal production grew by 8.2 percent, natural
gas by 11.7 percent, refinery products by 3.7
percent and cement production by 13.6 percent.
5. 'Immigration, Visa and Foreigner's Registration
& Tracking' Scheme
Why in the discussion- Recently the government
launched ' Immigration Visa Foreigner's
Registration Tracking' with a financial outlay of
Rs 1,364.88 crore; The scheme has been approved
to continue for a period up to 31st March , 2026.

 The scheme seeks to integrate and optimize
functions related to issuance of immigration visas,
registration of foreigners and tracking their
activities in the country. Its main objective is to
modernize and upgrade immigration and visa
services.
 According to the Lancet, 19 lakh children in
India have lost a parent or caregiver due to Covid
Why in discussion - According to a recent report
in The Lancet Child and Adolescent Health
Journal, 19 lakh children in India have lost their
parents or caregivers due to the Covid- 19
epidemic .
Key Points-
 This figure of India is highest in South-East Asia
region. But, the Indian government refutes these
figures and according to the Bal Swaraj-Covid
Care Portal of the Ministry of Women and Child
Development, the number is 1.5 lakh.
Other points-
 Globally this number has increased to more than
52 lakhs. The highest per capita estimated
orphan rates are in Peru and South Africa
where the rate is recorded between 8 and 7out
of1,000 children.
 According to a global study, two out of three
children orphaned by Covid are adolescents in
the age group of 10 to 17 years.
6. Stree Manoraksha Project
Why in the discussion - On March 02 , 2022,
the Union Minister of Women and Child
Development Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani started the
'Stree Manoraksha Project' in Bengaluru in
collaboration at the National Institute of Mental
Health and Neuroscience.

 The objective of this project is to provide mental
health training to 6000 OSC (One Stop Center)
workers across India. The project will focus on
psychologcial well-being and aims to improve the
mental health of women in India.

technology called ' Kavach ' in Secunderabad.

in procedural matters but in legal matters.
