Answer : A (5 August 2022). Atul Prasad, a 1987 batch IAS of cer, passed out from IIT Kanpur,
retired as the Development Commissioner on February 28, 2022. He has held important
positions in many departments of the government, including the Additional Chief Secretary in the
Social Welfare Department, is a native of Patna. His tenure will be for 6 years or till the age of 62
years (whichever is earlier). Current chairman RK Mahajan’s term came to an end with the
completion of the age limit of 62 on 4th August. The rst chairman of BPSC was Rajandhari Sinha.
Answer : (C). Mithila Makhana or Makhan (Euryale ferox Salisb) is a special variety of
Makhana grown in the Mithila region of Bihar and Nepal. Paan, Makhan and Mach ( sh) are
the three iconic cultural identities of Mithila. It is also very famous in the Kojagra festival of
Maithil Brahmins celebrated for newly married couples. Makhana contains protein and ber
along with micronutrients like calcium, magnesium, iron and phosphorus. Once registered,
these GI tags are valid for 10 years, after which they have to be renewed again. The rst GI tag in
the country was given to Darjeeling tea in the year 2004. The Central Government has given
GI tag to 420 items across the country. It contains 29 foreign objects.

Answer : (B). The department had selected a total of 2908 roads for repair. Under this,
8598.02 km of rural roads were to be repaired. Out of these 8436.92 KM rural roads were
repaired. In a nancial year, this much long roads could not be repaired till now. Maximum
repair of 521.08 KM of rural roads has been done in Rohtas. In FY 2022-23, the department
has set a target to repair more than 9000 KM of rural roads.

Answer : (D). Under this policy, the already built rural roads are being repaired and
maintained for ve years. In FY 2020-21, the department had repaired only 5906 KM of
rural roads. There are 1.05 lakh kilometers of paved roads under the department.
Under this, 66,000 KM of rural roads are out of repair period. For FY 2022-23, the
department has earmarked Rs 2550 crore for repairs.
Answer : (B). The state cabinet has approved the proposal of town development and housing for
making the hilly area, pilgrimage, tourist place or Mandi city of the state into a municipality.
Nagar Parishad with a population of 30 thousand to 1.5 lakh and Nagar Panchayat with a

(7) How much medical subsidy will be given per family for
the treatment of Duchenne muscular dystrophy and
other hereditary muscular dystrophy diseases in the
state?
Answer : (C). This disease is a rare genetic neuromuscular disorder. Symptoms usually
appear in children aged two to three years, and most patients die by the age of 20-25
years. This facility will be available only to the original residents of Bihar state or their
dependents. If the patient is a minor, at least one of the parents must be a resident of Bihar.
This grant will be given to each patient once in his life time.
Answer : (A). Under Tableau Seven Nishchay-2 of the Directorate of Agriculture, theme
was ‘a pucca check dam for water to every eld’. The second prize has been given to
Bihar Fire Service (Theme - Fire Safety: Fire Prevention). The third prize has been given
to the tableau 'Educated girl, empowered woman, empowered generation after
generation' presented by the Bihar Education Project Council. CRPF contingent has
received the award for the best parade. Best turn out award in Police Parade was given

Answer : (C). On 9 August 2022, Nitish Kumar broke the alliance with the BJP (NDA) and
resigned as Chief Minister. His party (JDU) rejoined the Grand Alliance, which consists of 8
parties (JDU, RJD, Congress, HAM, CPI, CPI-M, CPI-ML, AIMIM) and 1 independent MLA. His
sixth term began on 10 August 2022 when Governor Fagu Chauhan administered oath to
Nitish Kumar as the Chief Minister of the state for the 8th time in 22 years at a ceremony
held at Rajendra Mandap of Raj Bhavan. He is the longest serving Chief Minister of Bihar after
independence. His rst term was as the 29th Chief Minister of Bihar on 3 March 2000, for
only 7 days. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav took oath as Deputy Chief Minister for the second
time. Shri Krishna Sinha is the longest serving Chief Minister of Bihar.

(15) Who has become the Leader of Opposition in the
Bihar Legislative Assembly?
Answer : (A). Vijay Kumar Sinha, who resigned from the post of Speaker of the Bihar
Legislative Assembly, has been made the leader of its Legislature Party by the BJP. Vijay
Sinha, who represented Lakhisarai assembly constituency for the third time in a row, has
been a minister from 2017 to 2020. Earlier the Leader of the Opposition was Tejashwi Yadav
of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) who is now the Deputy Chief Minister in the Grand Alliance
government. The leader of the Legislative assembly is the chief minister.
Answer : (B). JDU's Devesh Chandra Thakur was elected unopposed as the Chairman of
the Legislative Council on Thursday. Awadhesh Narayan Singh, the then Executive
Chairman of the Legislative Council, announced the unopposed election of Thakur. Shri
Thakur became the 12th permanent chairman of the council. He is MLC from Tirhut
Graduation Constituency for 20 consecutive years. RJD's MLC Ramchandra Purve was
elected unopposed as the Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council.

Answer : (C). Ramdayalu Singh is the rst Speaker of the Bihar Legislative Assembly in 1937.
Awadh Bihari Choudhary, who was elected MLA from Siwan after the establishment of RJD,
became the party's second Speaker of the Assembly (unopposed) on 26 August 2022. Earlier,
Devnarayan Yadav has been the Speaker of the Assembly from RJD. After this, Sadanand Singh of
Congress was the speaker with the support of RJD. When the Grand Alliance government was formed

Mount Dungeshwari with Rs 16.76 crore, construction of rope path on Mount Pretshila

Answer : (B). On the second day of swearing-in, the department of RJD quota minister Karthik
Kumar, who came into controversy, was changed by order of August 30. He was made Minister
of Sugarcane Industries Department in place of Law Minister. On 31 August he submitted his
resignation to the Chief Minister. In this way, Karthik Kumar remained in the ministerial post for only
15 days. Shamim Ahmed (RJD), who was the sugarcane industries minister, has been given the
responsibility of the law minister. Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Alok Kumar Mehta (RJD)
has been given additional charge of Sugarcane Industries Department. Science and Technology
Minister = D (Independent MLA) & Prohibition, Excise and Registration = C (from JDU).
(20) How many teachers have been selected from Bihar for
National Teacher Award 2022?

Answer : (A). 46 teachers from across the country have been selected for the National Teacher
Award. The names of 6 teachers from Bihar were sent by the state government for the National
Teacher Award. Out of these 2 teachers have been selected - (1) Nishi Kumari, teacher of Mahadev
Higher Secondary School Khushrupur Patna and (2) Sourav Suman, teacher of Lalit Narayan Laxmi
Narayan Project Girls High School Triveniganj Supaul. Both the eachers will be given an amount of Rs
50,000 and a silver medal. An amount of Rs 30-30 thousand will be given by the state government.

Answer : (D). In the rst 5 months of January-May 2022 by the Patna High Court and the
District Court of Bihar, 64 thousand 32 and 3 lakh 20 thousand cases were executed
through video conferencing. In this case, the Patna High Court is at the sixth position in the
whole country while the District Court is at the fourth position. In response to a question by
Sushil Kumar Modi, the Union Minister said that under the E-Courts project, Rs 1670 crore was
released by the Central Government. In this, 1164.37 crores were given to the High Courts of
the country, in which the Patna High Court has been given 55.82 crores since 2015-16.

(Reservation and Allotment) Order 1968. In this way JD(U) has now become a recognized
party in 3 states. National party status is granted to a recognized party in four states.
JD(U) won 6 seats in the 2022 assembly elections in Manipur. JDU got 10.69% of the total
votes. Its 36 candidates were in the fray.

Answer : (B). Why in News? - CM Nitish Kumar unveiled the stone plaque near Moinul Haque
Stadium under the underground project of Patna Metro Rail Project on 18 August 2022. It was
started by inserting a D wall cage in a pit 82 feet deep in the ground. The cost of this scheme is
1989 crores. On this occasion, Principal Secretary, Urban Development and Housing
Department, Anand Kishor and Director of Metro Rail Corporation, Daljit Singh informed that
under the project there are 6 underground metro stations- Rajendra Nagar, Moinul Haque Metro
Station, University Station, PMCH Metro Station, Gandhi Maidan. There are metro station and
Akashvani metro station. The total length of this corridor is 8.08 KM.

constructed 200th session memorial-pillar at Kabir Vatika of the Legislative Council.

Singh, Executive Chairman of Bihar Legislative Council, has got this work done.

establish a Nagar Van and a Nagar Vatika within 5 km radius of the cities of Patna,
Muzaffarpur and Gaya. The responsibility of setting up city forest and city garden has been given
to the Forest and Environment Department. These three cities have been selected on the basis that
the air of these cities has been found to be more polluted than the average globally.

collection 'Udan-Chu'?
Answer : (A). In the book 'Udan-Chu' written by Virendra Jha of Madhubani district,
there are stories related to children adopting a positive attitude towards tradition
and progressiveness. In these stories written in simple language, children have been
taught to be responsible towards language, nature, animals and birds etc. Education and
scienti c consciousness are at the core of these stories.

Maithili literature under the name Navakrishna Aihik. His original name is Rupesh Kumar

2013 and satirical collection 'Khurchanbhaik Kachhamchhi' was published in 2015.

on 23rd August. The book 'Sone Ka Haath' is a collection of memoirs from the daily

17. Against the target of planting 1.61 crore saplings under MGNREGA in
the FY 2022-23, so far 89.50 lakh saplings have been planted. The
remaining saplings will be planted by September 15. Under the Jal-
Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan, Rs.12568 crore is to be spent in the next
three years. Maximum 3754 crore will be spent on creation of
nursery and intensive plantation. Of these, 3379 crores will be central
and 375 crores will be the state's share. Of these, 1025 crores will be
spent in 2022-23, 1251 crores in 2023-24 and 1251 crores in 2024-25
18. In the municipal elections in Bihar, the Mayor and the Chief
Councilors of the Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat will be
elected through yellow ballot paper. Ballot paper of 3 colors will be
used in the election. The white ballot paper will be used for the
election of the ward councillor. The Deputy Mayor & Deputy Chief
Councilors will be elected by the Sky Blue color ballot paper. Sky
blue color ballot paper will be used for municipal councillor, nagar
panchayat and city council councillor.
19. Teki Kaso, the lone JD(U) MLA from Arunachal Pradesh, joined the
BJP. The MLA met BJP National President JP Nadda at his residence in
New Delhi and joined BJP along with many of his supporters. The
number of BJP MLAs has increased to 49 in the 60-member
assembly. In December 2020, 6 JDU MLAs joined the BJP in the
state
20. The name of the Science for Society of Bihar has been included in
the special issue of Vigyan Pragati to find child scientist at school
level and take it to the national level. This monthly magazine is published
by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Ministry
of Science and Technology, Government of India. In the Inspire Standard
Award, Bihar ranks second or third in sending science projects.
According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, Bihar ranks
after Rajasthan, Delhi, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh among child
scientists. The maximum number of child scientists are selected from
Patna in the state
21. The regular government employees of the state will now get the
option to adopt the facility of family pension while joining the job.
Any employee coming under the purview of New Pension Scheme (NPS)
can adopt this facility as per his wish. In this regard, a 5-member
committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Secretary
(Expenditure) in the Finance Department. All regular employees who
have joined government service after 1st September 2005 are
covered under NPS. At present, due to the applicable NPS, the state
government is facing a financial burden of 6 to 7 thousand crore rupees
annually
.
22. For the first time in the country, live robotic surgery of joint implant
was done in Patna. Director of Anoop Institute of Orthopedics Patna
Ashish Singh and Dr. Santosh Kumar from Kolkata, Dr. Adarsh
Annapareddy from Hyderabad performed live surgery at Hotel Maurya
in the capital Patna. The event was organized in association with Bihar
Orthopedic Association. A 23-year-old woman from West Bengal,
Pinky Dev, who underwent hip transplant in the afternoon, was seen
standing on her feet in the evening. Dr. Ashish Singh told that this is
the first robot of its kind in the country at a cost of 14 crores. The
operation done through this AI-enabled robot has 100% accuracy.
23. Priyanka Kumari, a third year student of Metallurgical and Materials
Engineering branch at IIT Patna, has won the title of Woman of Metal
Season 6 of Tata Steel. The top 10 candidates get 2 lakh one-time
scholarships apart from the opportunity to make a career in Tata Steel
24. The 10-day Silk India Exhibition began at the Planetarium of Patna
under the banner of Handicrafts, an association of weavers. In this, the
products of silk weavers from 14 states were displayed
25. Block wise weather information will be available on Meghdoot app
developed by Meteorological Center, Indian Institute of Tropical
Meteorology and Indian Council of Agricultural Research. It can be
downloaded from Google Play Store. Director of Meteorological Center
Patna Vivek Sinha said that all the blocks of Bihar have already been
connected with this app. 330 networks have been developed for IMD's
Rural Agricultural Weather Service, where advisories are being issued
every Tuesday and Friday
26. Insha Ahmed (Patna) has been conferred with the Global Leader
Fellowship Award from North Eastern University (USA). She has got
this honour after getting better results in B.Tech in Computer Science
from Vellore Institute of Technology, Andhra Pradesh
27. Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and Minister of Art,
Culture and Youth Department Jitendra Kumar Rai honoured 211
players and 6 coaches of Bihar with Bihar Khel Samman in a grand
program organized at Energy Auditorium in Shastrinagar (Patna). The
players have been encouraged by the government this year by giving a
total cash award of Rs 3,11,15,792. Para Badminton player Pramod
Bhagat, who received the award of rupees 1 crore, looked very excited
28. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), only 50% of the
approved houses have been completed in the state in FY 2021-22.
Out of 9.81 lakh approved houses, construction work of 4.92 lakh has
been completed so far. The department is again instructing the districts to
complete the construction expeditiously, so that the approved 100%
target is achieved as soon as possible
