Social Welfare Department, is a native of Patna. His tenure will be for 6 years or till the age of 62
years (whichever is earlier). Current chairman RK Mahajan’s term came to an end with the

Maithil Brahmins celebrated for newly married couples. Makhana contains protein and ber

repair of 521.08 KM of rural roads has been done in Rohtas. In FY 2022-23, the department
has set a target to repair more than 9000 KM of rural roads.

whole country while the District Court is at the fourth position. In response to a question by
Sushil Kumar Modi, the Union Minister said that under the E-Courts project, Rs 1670 crore was
released by the Central Government. In this, 1164.37 crores were given to the High Courts of
the country, in which the Patna High Court has been given 55.82 crores since 2015-16.

Station, University Station, PMCH Metro Station, Gandhi Maidan. There are metro station and
Akashvani metro station. The total length of this corridor is 8.08 KM.

1. The Grand Alliance government formed under the leadership of


Nitish Kumar in Bihar was expanded on 16 August. In the Nitish
cabinet, 31 MLAs / MLCs took oath as ministers. Among the ministers
who took oath were 16 from RJD, 11 from JDU, 2 from Congress and
Sumit Kumar Singh, an independent. After the resignation of Karthik
Kumar (RJD) on August 31, the number of cabinet members
including the Chief Minister has come down to 32
2. The Mahagathbandhan government led by CM Nitish Kumar won the
trust vote in the assembly on 24 August. 160 members voted in
favour. Due to the walkout of the opposition members, not a single vote
was cast in the opposition. Except BJP, 8 parties including AIMIM
expressed their faith in the newly formed government. The
government already had the support of 164 members including 7 parties-
JD(U), RJD, Congress, HAM, CPI, CPI(M), CPI-ML and an independent.
With the support of AIMIM's Akhtarul Iman, this number reached 165
3. Bihar has crossed the national average in providing electricity to
villages. Bihar is still slightly behind the national average in terms of
providing electricity in urban areas. Kerala and Gujarat (22 hours 52
minutes) are top in providing electricity to villages. Bihar ranks 16th with
21.62 hours of electricity supply in rural areas of the state. Electricity
is being provided for 20.89 hours in the villages of the country.
Puducherry ranks first among urban areas with 24-hour power supply.
Bihar is at 24th position by giving 23.15 Hours of electricity. The
national average for providing electricity to cities is 23.52 Hours. It is on
29th position in transformer failure. The national average for transformer
failure is 2%. The average transformer failure in Bihar is 15%. Bihar
ranks second among 13 states in the country in taking online applications
for connection. Bihar ranks 26th out of 29 states in the country in
generating electricity bills on the basis of meter reading. Only 58% of the
bills in the state are being given to the consumers by meter reading.
Bihar is at 11th position in giving message to consumers before electricity
bill failure. 79% of consumers are being given messages before power
disconnection. 70% of Delhi consumers pay electricity bills online, only
10% in Bihar
4. Patna High Court is at 6th place in India while District Court is at fourth
place in the execution of cases through video conferencing. The 3
benches of Patna High Court have live telecast of proceedings on
all five working days of the court. 1.69 crore cases have been
executed through 20 virtual courts in 16 states of the country. There is
no virtual court in Bihar
.

5. Super 30 founder Anand Kumar was conferred with an honorary PhD


degree on the recommendation of the National Institute of
Technology (NIT) Senate at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. He was
conferred the degree by the Union Minister of State for Education,
Subhash Sarkar
6. In view of the situation like erratic monsoon, drought and less rain, the
farmers of Bihar will now get a diesel subsidy of Rs 75 per liter
instead of 60 for irrigation in Kharif crop by the state government. Rs
29.95 crore has been approved as advance for FY 2022-23. Based on
the estimate of consumption of 10 liters for irrigation of one acre, Rs 750
per acre will be given to the farmer. A farmer will get this grant for
irrigation up to a maximum of 8 acres
7. CM Nitish Kumar has announced that in government guest houses and
government offices, handlooms made by weavers and sheets,
curtains, pillow shells made of khadi will be procured. Bihar's Textile
and Leather Policy 2022 has been brought by the state government for
the development of handloom and textile sector. Large and wide frame
looms are needed for making sheets. The government is giving 90%
subsidy to weavers to buy large frame looms of 68 inches

investigation of criminal incidents, have been decorated with the Union
Home Minister's Medal. Six police officers, including Patna's then City
SP Vinay Tiwari and IO of the case, Ram Shankar Singh, have received
this honor for solving the mystery of Patna's famous IndiGo station
manager Rupesh murder case. The then SP Sayli Savlaram Dhurat
has also been decorated with the Union Home Minister's medal for
solving the incident of murder after the rape of the girl in Araria and for
bringing punishment to the accused.
9. 7 bravehearts of Bihar Police have been decorated with Police
Gallantry Medal (Gallantry) given on the occasion of Independence
Day. This honor has been received for the killing of the infamous
Dinesh Muni in Narayanpur Diara of Navagachia on 4 June 2020.
These include STF sub-inspector Baijnath Kumar, Santosh Kumar Singh,
Vikas Kumar, commandos Anjan Kumar, Vimlesh Kumar, Rajesh Kumar
and Inderdev Kumar. Two police officers including ADG Nayyar
Hasnain Khan have been awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal while 17
have been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal.

14. G Ashok Kumar, Director General, National Mission for Clean Ganga
informed that the Central Government is going to implement
Swadesh Darshan Scheme connecting the Ganga river in Rishikesh,
Bithoor and Munger. The government is starting work on 62 Jal Marg
and Ghat Development Projects in 24 districts of 4 states for
sustainable economic and community development of the people living
on the banks of river Ganga. Under this, 10 projects in Uttar Pradesh, 21
projects in Bihar, 3 projects in Jharkhand and 23 projects in West
Bengal are proposed in 4 districts of Uttar Pradesh, 10 districts of
Bihar, 1 district of Jharkhand and 9 districts of West Bengal

years of research, has developed such a technology, which makes it
possible to produce the cheapest electricity in the world. Incubated
by the Incubation Foundation of CIMP, the name of this start up is
Hydro Lifting Technology. For the generation of electricity, only one
water needs to be filled in any dam. After this, water can be easily
transported from the lower dam to the higher dam by spending very
little energy. The same water will continue to rotate in both the dams for
a long time. In order to move water from the lower dam to the higher

16. 88-year-old former minister Uday Narayan Rai alias Bhola Rai passed
away at IGIMS Patna. He was elected member of the Legislative
Assembly on the ticket of Janata Dal in the year 1980, 1985, 1990 from
Raghopur assembly constituency of Vaishali district. He was a
member of Bihar Legislative Council in 1995, 1998 and 2006.

17. Against the target of planting 1.61 crore saplings under MGNREGA in
the FY 2022-23, so far 89.50 lakh saplings have been planted. The
remaining saplings will be planted by September 15. Under the Jal-
Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan, Rs.12568 crore is to be spent in the next
three years. Maximum 3754 crore will be spent on creation of
nursery and intensive plantation. Of these, 3379 crores will be central
and 375 crores will be the state's share. Of these, 1025 crores will be
spent in 2022-23, 1251 crores in 2023-24 and 1251 crores in 2024-25
18. In the municipal elections in Bihar, the Mayor and the Chief
Councilors of the Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat will be
elected through yellow ballot paper. Ballot paper of 3 colors will be
used in the election. The white ballot paper will be used for the
election of the ward councillor. The Deputy Mayor & Deputy Chief
Councilors will be elected by the Sky Blue color ballot paper. Sky
blue color ballot paper will be used for municipal councillor, nagar
panchayat and city council councillor.
19. Teki Kaso, the lone JD(U) MLA from Arunachal Pradesh, joined the
BJP. The MLA met BJP National President JP Nadda at his residence in
New Delhi and joined BJP along with many of his supporters. The

the special issue of Vigyan Pragati to find child scientist at school
level and take it to the national level. This monthly magazine is published
by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Ministry
of Science and Technology, Government of India. In the Inspire Standard
Award, Bihar ranks second or third in sending science projects.
According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, Bihar ranks
after Rajasthan, Delhi, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh among child
scientists. The maximum number of child scientists are selected from
Patna in the state
21. The regular government employees of the state will now get the
option to adopt the facility of family pension while joining the job.
Any employee coming under the purview of New Pension Scheme (NPS)
can adopt this facility as per his wish. In this regard, a 5-member
committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Secretary
(Expenditure) in the Finance Department. All regular employees who
have joined government service after 1st September 2005 are
covered under NPS. At present, due to the applicable NPS, the state
government is facing a financial burden of 6 to 7 thousand crore rupees
annually

22. For the first time in the country, live robotic surgery of joint implant
was done in Patna. Director of Anoop Institute of Orthopedics Patna
Ashish Singh and Dr. Santosh Kumar from Kolkata, Dr. Adarsh
Annapareddy from Hyderabad performed live surgery at Hotel Maurya
in the capital Patna. The event was organized in association with Bihar
Orthopedic Association. A 23-year-old woman from West Bengal,
Pinky Dev, who underwent hip transplant in the afternoon, was seen
standing on her feet in the evening. Dr. Ashish Singh told that this is
the first robot of its kind in the country at a cost of 14 crores. The
operation done through this AI-enabled robot has 100% accuracy.
23. Priyanka Kumari, a third year student of Metallurgical and Materials
Engineering branch at IIT Patna, has won the title of Woman of Metal
Season 6 of Tata Steel. The top 10 candidates get 2 lakh one-time
scholarships apart from the opportunity to make a career in Tata Steel
24. The 10-day Silk India Exhibition began at the Planetarium of Patna
under the banner of Handicrafts, an association of weavers. In this, the

Fellowship Award from North Eastern University (USA). She has got
this honour after getting better results in B.Tech in Computer Science

Culture and Youth Department Jitendra Kumar Rai honoured 211

players have been encouraged by the government this year by giving a

28. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), only 50% of the
approved houses have been completed in the state in FY 2021-22.
Out of 9.81 lakh approved houses, construction work of 4.92 lakh has
been completed so far. The department is again instructing the districts to
complete the construction expeditiously, so that the approved 100%
target is achieved as soon as possible

29. Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao visited Bihar on 31


August. In June 2021, 5 brave soldiers of Bihar were martyred in a violent
encounter between Indian and Chinese soldiers in the Galwan Valley.
The families of these jawans were given a check of Rs 10 lakh each by
the Telangana government in Patna. On March 22, 2022, 9 workers
from Chhapra and 3 from Katihar were killed when a fire broke out in a
scrap godown in Hyderabad. 5 lakh each was given by the Telangana
government as ex-gratia grant to the families of these laborers
30. Bihar's 2 skaters Radha Kumari and Nikhil Kumar have brought glory to
Bihar by winning medals in the 3rd National Ranking Championship
held in Jodhpur, Rajasthan on August 28. Radha won 3 golds in her
