Physics Task – To determine Periodic Time of a homemade oscillator

Hello All,

You need to design a simple pendulum from stuff you have at home.

1. Take any small heavy object like a small lock or a metal key.

2. Tie a string on it and check that it oscillates when suspended from a

rigid support.

3. Tie it to a point where it can oscillate freely.

L1
4. Allow it to come to rest position.

5. Take it slightly to one side and release it.

Rest Position/ 6. Once the oscillation gets steady, record the time take for ten oscillations.
Mean Position/
7. Note the length of the String. Say L1
Equilibrium Position
8. For one length L1 take five trials.

9. Take another length of string. Say L2

8. Again release the heavy object like key so that it oscillates. Record time
it takes for 10 oscillations.

9. Take the third and fourth length L3 and L4 . Record time for 10
oscillations.
RECORD YOUR TIMINGS IN THE BELOW OBSERVATION TABLE
