da yüzde 40’a yakın oranda artırmayı başardık. Türkiye’nin dış
ticaretine paralel olarak Avrupa Birliği, Kuzey Amerika ve MENA
bölgelerindeki etkinliğimizi artırmaya devam edeceğiz. Küresel
tedarik zincirindeki dalgalanmalar, lojistik sektöründeki esneklik ve
hız kavramlarını da daha stratejik seviyeye çıkardı. Yakın zamanda
aldığımız Yetkilendirilmiş Yükümlü Sertifikası ile müşterilerimize çok
daha hızlı çözüm sunmayı amaçlıyoruz.

inanıyorum. Çünkü dünyanın en büyük tüketim pazarları, iklimle
mücadele destek paketleri ve özel sektörün bu çerçevedeki
yatırımlarının yarın için umut verdiğine inanıyorum.

2022 may go down in history as the year in which the global trade
and economy agenda was quite intense and complex. The world’s
largest economies are mobilized to combat the energy crisis and
global inflation. Every step taken forces the transformation of
not only the business volume of global trade but also the entire
stage of the supply chain. Companies that can keep up with this
transformation and manage it will further strengthen their brand
value in the new period. Companies that achieve this will also
stand out as contributors to a sustainable world. Globelink Ünimar,
which celebrates its 28th anniversary, is among the companies
that succeed in increasing its brand value day by day. As Globelink
Ünimar, we continue to grow with the value-added services we
offer to our customers and we also make a difference by working to
protect the environment.
We continue to closely monitor the growth of our country’s exports
in order to provide our stakeholders with fast, reliable and flexible
services. In this context, in the first nine months of the year, we added
a hundred new destinations to the destinations where we operate
while increasing the number of our client companies by nearly 40
percent. In parallel with Turkey’s foreign trade, we will continue to
increase our effectiveness in the European Union, North America
and MENA regions. The fluctuations in the global supply chain have
brought the concepts of flexibility and speed in the logistics industry to
a more strategic level. With the Authorized Economic Operator Status
Certificate we have recently obtained, we aim to provide a much
faster solution to our customers. The global trade and supply chain
is in a state of constant change and transformation. While the current
developments are effective on the global demand, they also change
the trade routes. The concept of sustainability triggers environmental
transformation in supply chains. As Globelink Ünimar, we will continue
to read the change correctly and continue to invest in this direction, as
we did before.
In the last period, everything in the world experienced a very rapid
change. This change changed the balance in many areas, as well.
We observe that the world is trying to find a new balance after the
pandemic. Although we are going through a difficult period right now, I
believe that we will find the right balance for our future in a short time.
Because I believe that the world’s largest consumer markets, climate
support packages and private sector investments in this framework
give us hope for tomorrow.

022’nin ilk yarısında da büyümeye devam eden
Globelink Ünimar, 2021 yılının aynı dönemine kıyasla
müşteri firma sayısını yüzde 40’a yakın artırdı. Büyüme
yalnızca müşteri sayısıyla sınırlı kalmayarak faaliyet
gösterilen destinasyonlara da yaklaşık 100 yeni ekleme yapıldı.
Hizmet ağına yeni eklenen lokasyonlar içinde Birleşik Krallık’tan
Lüksemburg’a, Çin’den Azerbaycan’a kadar birçok destinasyon
yer alıyor. Şirket, Türkiye’nin dış ticaretine paralel olarak Avrupa
Birliği, Kuzey Amerika ve MENA (Orta Doğu ve Kuzey Afrika)
bölgesine yoğunlaşırken, 2022’nin ilk altı ayında en çok ithalatı
ise Çin’den yaptı.
Globelink Ünimar’ın en çok ihracat yaptığı bölgelerin başında;
Kuzey Amerika, Birleşik Arap Emirlikleri ve Fas başta olmak üzere
MENA Bölgesi ülkeleri, İspanya başta olmak üzere Avrupa Birliği
ülkeleri geliyor. Çin, Birleşik Krallık, Singapur, Hong Kong ve
Hindistan ise en çok ithalat yapılan ülkeler olarak öne çıkıyor.
TÜM SEKTÖRLERE ENTEGRE LOJISTIK HIZMETI
Yılın ilk yarısına ilişkin görüşlerini aktaran Globelink Ünimar İcra
Kurulu Komite Üyesi Koray Çıtak, “Şirket olarak yılların tecrü-
besi, bilgi birikimi ve uzman ekibimizle birlikte birçok sektörle
çalışmakta ve bu sektörlerdeki müşterilerimize koşulsuz müşteri
memnuniyeti anlayışıyla hizmet veriyoruz. Sahip olduğumuz
geniş acente ağımızın yanında sunduğumuz üstün kaliteli hiz-
metle her geçen gün daha da büyümeye ve güçlenmeye devam
ediyoruz. 2022 yılının ilk yarısında da dünyada yaşanan hızlı
gelişmelere rağmen güçlü bir büyüme sergiledik. Bu dönemde;
İzmit-Dubai deniz yolu servisini devreye alırken, Çin’den İstan-
bul’a sunduğumuz multimodal servisimizle de hızlı, güvenilir ve
esnek çözümlerimizi genişletmeye devam ettik. Yeni müşterileri-
miz ve yeni destinasyonlarımızın verdiği şevkle bundan sonraki
dönem için çalışıyor ve kendimizi daima bir adım ileri taşımak
için var gücümüzle çabamızı sürdürüyoruz.” dedi.

ontinuing to grow in the first half of 2022, Globelink Ünimar
has increased the number of customer companies by nearly
40 percent compared to the same period of 2021. The growth
was not only limited to the number of customers; it also
added about 100 new locations to the destinations where it operates.
Among the newly-added locations to the service network, there are
many destinations from the United Kingdom to Luxembourg and from
China to Azerbaijan. While the company has focused on the European
Union, North America and MENA (the Middle East and North Africa)
region in parallel with Turkey’s foreign trade, it made the most imports
from China in the first six months of 2022.
At the beginning of the regions where Globelink Ünimar exports
the most are the countries in the MENA Region, especially North
America, United Arab Emirates, Morocco, and European Union
countries, especially Spain. China, the United Kingdom, Singapore,
Hong Kong, and India stand out as the countries that import the most.

devam eden Globelink Ünimar, Ticaret Bakanlığı
tarafından verilen Yetkilendirilmiş Yükümlü Sertifikası’nı
(YYS) almaya hak kazandı. YYS sahibi ithalat ve ihracat
yapan şirketler ilave şartları yerine getirdiğinde gümrük işlemlerini
kendi tesislerinde gerçekleştirebiliyor. Globelink Ünimar, bu
sertifikayla birlikte lojistik süreçlerinde yer alan gümrük özet
beyan işlemlerinde harcanan vakti azaltmayı ve müşterilerine
daha hızlı çözümler sunabilmeyi amaçlıyor. Ayrıca taşıma
işlemlerinde Globelink Ünimar ile çalışmayı tercih edenler, sınır
kapılarında öncelikli geçiş hakkından ötürü daha hızlı servis alma
ayrıcalığından faydalanacak.

yükümlülüklerini eksiksiz yerine getiren işletmelere veriliyor.
Ayrıca sertifikaya sahip olabilmek için Türkiye Gümrük Bölgesi
sınırları içerisinde en az üç yıldır faaliyette olmak, ISO 9001 ve
ISO 27001 başta olmak üzere çeşitli kalite belgelerine sahip
olmak gerekiyor. Daha da önemlisi bu işletmelerin temiz
bir sicile sahip olması ve gümrük işlemleri sırasında geçmiş
dönemlerde oluşmuş cezasının bulunmaması gerekiyor. Sadece
ülkemizde değil dünyanın pek çok ülkesinde YYS’ye sahip
şirketler gümrük otoriteleri tarafından güvenilir şirketler olarak
kabul ediliyor.

AEO CERTIFICATE OFFERS MANY ADVANTAGES
AEO gives foreign trade or logistics companies the chance to
prioritize control and inspection when necessary. In addition, AEO,
which also enables the green line application, makes it possible to
benefit from the lump-sum coverage application and to carry on
board transactions if some of the information that should be written
in the import and export declaration or summary declaration is not
written or some of the documents that should be added (declaration
with incomplete information or documents) are not included.

process and is really hard to earn. As a team, we prepared very well

standard it provides to its customers with privileges such as AEO. We
have more than 110 offices in 32 countries and with this certificate we
have received, we plan to contribute to the quality service we already
provide to our business partners. The next target for our company,
which takes firm steps towards achieving our goals, is to become an
authorized consignor and an authorized consignee.”
WHAT IS AEO?
The AEO certificate is given to businesses that carry out international
logistics and trade activities and fulfill their customs obligations.
In addition, in order to be certified, it is necessary to have been
operating within the borders of the Customs Territory of Turkey for
at least three years and to have various quality certificates, especially
ISO 9001 and ISO 27001. More importantly, these businesses should
have a clean record and should not have any previous penalties

 ÇIN VE TÜRKIYE ILIŞKILERI
Türkiye ile Çin arasındaki ilişkilerin geçmişi, coğrafi sınırlar
nedeniyle MÖ 3000 yılına dayanıyor olsa da özellikle 1970’li
yıllar itibarıyla iki ülkenin ilişkileri olumlu anlamda gelişme
göstermeye başladı. Önemli ekonomik ve siyasi iş birlikleri
bulunan Çin ve Türkiye arasındaki ilişki, 1978’li yıllardan itibaren
“Reform ve Dışa Açılım” politikaları sonucunda benimsenen
liberal ekonomi modeli ile canlanmıştır. Türkiye’nin Çin’e olan
ihracatının arttırılması hedefiyle iki ülke arasında 2005 yılında
“Asya-Pasifik Stratejisi”, 2015 yılında ise Çin’den Avrupa’ya
uzanan kuzey hattını tamamlayan “Trans-Hazar-Orta Koridor”
projesini Tek Kuşak Tek Yol Projesi ile uyumlu hâle getirmek için
“Mutabakat Muhtırası” imzalandı.
İkili ticaret hacminde ilk kez 1 milyar doların aşıldığı 2000
yılından bu yana ticari ilişkilerinde de önemli ivme kaydedildi.
Çin, 2021 itibarıyla dünya genelinde Türkiye’nin ikinci büyük
ticari ortağı konumuna ulaşmayı başardı. Çin’in Türkiye’ye
yapmış olduğu toplam yatırım miktarı 4 milyar doların üzerinde
olmakla birlikte son dönemde artmakta olan yatırımların
sektörel dağılımı; enerji, altyapı, lojistik, finans, madencilik ve
telekomünikasyon alanlarında seyrediyor.

Projenin, “Çin-Orta Asya-Batı Asya Ekonomik Koridoru”
olarak da isimlendirilen Orta Koridor kısmında yer alan
Türkiye, Asya ülkeleri ile Avrupa ülkeleri arasında proje
kapsamında taşınacak yükler için kritik bir role sahip olacak.
Bu da Türkiye için yeni pazarlar ve büyüyen ihracat hacmi
anlamına geliyor. Ayrıca Asya ülkeleri ile arasındaki siyasal,
ekonomik ve sosyal bağların geliştirilmesine de fırsat
tanıyan proje, Türkiye açısından ciddi öneme sahip. Proje
kapsamında Türkiye’nin Çin ile ticaretinde sevkiyat süresinin
de 30 günden 10 güne indirilmesi planlanıyor.
CHINA AND TURKEY RELATIONS
Although the history of relations between Turkey and China dates
back to 3000 BC due to geographical borders, the relations between
the two countries began to develop positively, especially as of
the 1970s. The relationship between China and Turkey, which has
important economic and political cooperation, has revived the
liberal economy model adopted as a result of the “Reform and
Opening to Foreign” policies since 1978. With the aim of increasing
Turkey’s exports to China, the “Asia-Pacific Strategy” between the

for the first time, significant momentum has been recorded in trade
relations. As of 2021, China has managed to reach the position of
Turkey’s second largest commercial partner worldwide. Although

Located in the Central Corridor section of the project, which
is also called the “China-Central Asia-West Asia Economic
Corridor”, Turkey will play a critical role in the cargoes to be
transported between Asian countries and European countries.
This means new markets and growing export volume for Turkey.
The project, which also provides an opportunity to develop
political, economic and social ties with Asian countries, has
critical importance to Turkey. Within the scope of the project, it is
planned to reduce the shipping time in Turkey’s trade with China
from 30 days to 10 days.

Eğer tedarik zincirinde ihracat hedefi varsa ihraç edilecek
malların önünün açılması gerekiyor. Bu sebeple de Çin’i merkez
alan ve her ne kadar adı Tek Kuşak Tek Yol olsa da çok kollu bir
şekilde batıya doğru akan güzergâhlarda Çin, otoyol ve demir
yolları inşası, rehabilitasyonu, limanların satın alınması gibi
Afrika’dan Avrupa ve Orta Asya’ya kadar birçok bölgede, farklı
alanlarda ciddi altyapı yatırımları üstlendi. Tüm bunlar özellikle
Amerika tarafından Çin’in emperyal hedeflerini hayata geçirme
projesi şeklinde ilan edilse de aslında bu kapsamda çok önemli
lojistik yatırımlar yapıldı.
Güzergâh ülkelerindeki altyapı yatırımlarının tamamının
Çin tarafından yapılıyor olması bu ülkelerin Çin tarafından
borçlandırıldığına yönelik birtakım eleştirileri de
beraberinde getirmişti. Ancak proje özü itibarıyla
Çin’den ve Çin’e yönelik ticarette bütün yolları
kolaylaştırıcı yatırımları hedefliyor. Tarihi İpek
Yolu nasıl ki Amerika’nın keşfinden önce batı ve
Çin arasındaki ticareti taşımışsa yine Avrupa’ya
Çin’in mallarını daha hızlı, daha kolay ve daha
ucuza taşıyarak Çin ürünlerinin rekabet gücünü
artırmayı hedefleyen bir tedarik zinciri projesi
olarak dikkat çekiyor.

Çünkü lojistik, ticaretin önünde kaldıraç rolü üstleniyor. Almanya,
taşıma ve lojistiğin en kolay olduğu, ulaştırma altyapılarının en
güçlü olduğu ülkelerden biri. Çin de aslında kendi hinterlandında
ve hedef pazarlarının bulunduğu güzergâhlardaki altyapı
yatırımlarını iyileştirerek tedarik zincirinin uluslarası pazarda
önünü açmak istiyor.
Bu noktada pandeminin projeye olumsuz etkileri oldu. Özellikle
de pandeminin Çin kaynaklı olması, Çin ürünlerinin üretiminde
yaşanan aksaklıklar ve batı tarafından Çin ürünlerinin tercih
edilmemesi Kuşak Yol Projesi’ne yönelik beklentileri aşağı çekti.
Bunlar dışında tabii bir de hâlâ devam eden konteyner krizi,
navlun fiyatlarındaki artış ve Rusya krizi de batının Çin’e alternatif
üretim merkezleri arayışına girmesine yol açtı. Bu noktada da
Türkiye ve Balkan ülkeleri ön plana çıktı.

If there is an export target in the supply chain, it is necessary
to pave the way for the goods to be exported. For this reason,
China has undertaken serious infrastructure investments in
different areas from Africa to Europe and Central Asia, such as
the construction and rehabilitation of highways and railways and
the purchase of ports on the routes that center China and flow
westward in a multi-armed manner, although it is called One Belt
One Road. Although all these were announced by particularly
the USA as a project to realize China’s imperial goals, in fact, very
important logistics investments were made in this context. The
fact that all of the infrastructure investments in the on the route
were made by China brought some criticisms that these countries
were indebted by China. However, in essence,
the project aims at investments that facilitate
all routes in trade from and to China. Just as the
historical Silk Road carried trade between the
West and China before the discovery of America,
it draws attention as a supply chain project that
aims to increase the competitiveness of Chinese
products by transporting Chinese goods to
Europe faster, easier and cheaper.
“CHINA WANTS TO STRENGTHEN THE
SUPPLY CHAIN”
It is seen that China’s target with this project,
especially the countries that hold the supply
chain in the world, actually play an important
role in world trade. Many of the world’s global
logistics brands originate in Germany, and in
this context, Germany ranks first in the World
Bank’s logistics performance index. Because
logistics plays a leverage role in front of trade.
Germany is one of the countries where transportation and logistics
are the easiest and the transportation infrastructures are the
strongest. In fact, China also wants to pave the way for its supply
chain in the international market by improving infrastructure
investments in its hinterland and on the routes where its target
markets are located. At this point, the pandemic had negative
impacts on the project. In particular, the fact that the pandemic
emerged in China first, the disruptions in the production of
Chinese products and the fact that Chinese products are not
preferred by the West brought down expectations for the Belt
Road Project. Apart from these, of course, the ongoing container
crisis, the increase in freight prices and the Russian crisis led the
West to seek alternative production centers to China. At this point,
Turkey and the Balkan countries came to the fore.

konaklama, ofis kompleksleri, konferans ve
sergi merkezleri veya eğlence tesisleri gibi
işletmelerle eş zamanlı olarak kara tarafı alanlarını
geliştirirken yolcu terminalleri içinde çeşitli ticari ve eğlence
hizmetlerini bünyesinde barındıran yeni dinamik ekonomik
faaliyet merkezleri hâline gelmiş durumdadır. Havalimanı
alanı, çevredeki ekonomik, sosyal ve çevresel gelişimin
havalimanının faaliyeti ile ilgili olduğu bölgeyi ifade
etmektedir. Bilgi, teknoloji ve otomasyon çözümlerinin
geliştirilmesi üzerine araştırmalarında teşvik edildiği bu
alanlarda ve çevrelerinde yer alan işletmeler mağazalar,
restoranlar, araç kiralama ve eğlence tesisleri ile ticaret
sektörüne olduğu kadar turizm sektörüne de yüksek ve
kaliteli hizmet sunmaya odaklanmaktadır.
Son yıllarda, pazarlar ulusal ve uluslararası ölçekte
büyürken küreselleşme, bölgeler arasında rekabetçi
pazarlar yaratarak şehirleri etkilemiştir. İletişim, finans
ve kitle iletişim araçlarındaki teknolojik gelişmeler ve hız
hem işletmeler hem de insanlar için önemli bir faktör
hâline geldiğinden havayolu taşımacılığı birçok işletme
tarafından önemli ulaşım olmuştur. Havayolu taşımacılığı
sektörünün önemi, organizasyonu, tedarik zincirindeki
rolü, son dönemdeki eğilimler, sektörün karşılaştığı
kısıtlamalar ve sektörün gelecekteki beklentileri açısından
gün geçtikçe artmaktadır. Piyasalar, küresel ölçekte rekabet
edebildiklerinden bölgeleri ve metropolleri olumlu ya
da olumsuz yönde doğrudan etkilemektedir. Bu açıdan

restaurants, car rental and entertainment facilities. In
recent years, as markets have grown on a national and
international scale, globalization has affected cities
by creating competitive markets across regions. Air
transportation has become an important transportation
mode for many businesses, as technological
developments and speed in communication, finance
and mass media have become an important factor for
both businesses and people. The importance of the air
transport sector, its organization, its role in the supply
chain, recent trends, the constraints faced by the sector
and the future expectations of the sector are increasing
day by day. As markets can compete on a global scale,
they directly affect regions and metropolises positively
or negatively. In this respect, airports and neighboring
regions act as catalysts for local economic development.
However, we see that many airports have transformed
from simple transfer ports to logistics transportation
centers and more recently into multifunctional airport
cities. An airport city not only serves as an indicator of a

eşleştirilmelidir. Ayrıca, havalimanlarının ve alanlarının
planlanması, hava taşımacılığı, kara taşımacılığı ile
emniyet ve güvenlik konularının özellikleriyle ilgilenmeyi
gerektirir. Çoğu zaman, bu alanlardaki havaalanı ve otoyol
mühendisleri estetik ve kentsel kalite gibi diğer hususları
ihmal edebilmektedir. Bu nedenle, havalimanı alanlarının

Aerotropolis is also an aviation-oriented urban form
centered on multimodal logistics, where low-weight

efficiently. Similar airport city planning systems include
Airfront and Aviapolis. Such facilities include catering, retail
stores, duty-free, lounges/private meeting rooms, hotels,
banks, offices, cultural/entertainment venues, recreational

CHALLENGES TO PLANNING, GOVERNANCE AND
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
An airport can often become one of the most important,
if not one of the largest, multimodal transport hubs in the
region. Therefore, the planning of airport areas should
be matched with the land planning and zoning regimes
of regional and national transport policies. In addition,
the planning of airports and areas requires dealing with
aspects of air transport, land transport, and safety and
security issues. Airport and highway engineers in these
areas usually neglect other aspects such as aesthetics
and urban quality. Therefore, the planning of airport
areas should include the extent of urban developments
supported by the airport, as well as those from the private
sector and other stakeholders.
In recent years, airport areas have become attractive
places for logistics and distribution centers beyond air
transportation. This is because airports are often located
in close-connected areas to major metropolitan areas.
Therefore, integrated land planning of airport areas
should be made to facilitate the
coordination of infrastructure
planning, to address the airport
and airport cities on a larger scale,
and to strike a balance between
development and protection.
In addition, airport-related
developments should be centered
within the region and around
intermodal transport nodes.
As airport areas become more
attractive places for distribution
centers and logistics, appropriate
planning and connections to
these freight areas should be
encouraged.

sizden dinlemek isteriz. Nasıl bir takımınız var?
EPWN (Avrupa İş Kadınları Ağı), 2003 yılında Paris’te kuruldu. Yaptığı
başarılı çalışmalarla sadece Avrupa’da değil; Orta Doğu, Amerika
ve Güney Amerika’da da tanınan bir iş profesyonelleri ağı hâline
geldi. PWN, kadın ve erkekler için güvenilir, ulaşılabilir, samimi bir
gelişim platformu olmanın yanı sıra profesyonel bir network ağı
imkânı da sunuyor. Kuruluş amaçları içinde toplumsal cinsiyet
eşitliğine ulaşmayı hızlandıracak farkındalık ve destekleyici faaliyetler
düzenlemek, kadın istihdamını ve iş dünyasında kadın temsil oranını
artırmak, kadınların liderlik gelişimini desteklemek, cesaretlendirmek
ve iş-özel hayat dengesi bağlamında farkındalık yaratacak çözümler
oluşturmak bulunuyor.
Türkiye’de 2013 yılından bu yana faaliyet gösteren PWN Istanbul,
kurumsal üyeleri ile 350 kadın ve erkek profesyonelden oluşan bir

of gender equality and said: “Gender balanced
leadership is indispensable for a welfare society.”
Ms. Aylin Satun Olsun draws attention to the fact that the
situation of women in our country is worrisome when we take
the 21st century’s living standards into consideration and that
inclusiveness and equality of opportunity should be in all areas
of social life, instead of discrimination. For this purpose, we have talked
about the activities and projects of PWN Istanbul with Ms. Satun Olsun,
who has told us that they have been inviting especially male CEOs in the
business world to take responsibility for gender equality with the Equality
Ambassador CEO projects for years.
Could you please tell us about the founding purposes PWN Istanbul
and its fields of activity? What is your team like?
EPWN (European Businesswomen Network) was founded in Paris in 2003.
It has become a well-known network of business professionals with its
successful works not only in Europe but also in the Middle East, America,
and South America. In addition to being a reliable, accessible and sincere
development platform for men and women, PWN also offers a professional
networking opportunity. Among the objectives of its establishment are
to organize awareness and support activities that will accelerate the
achievement of gender equality, to increase women’s employment and
women’s representation in the business world, to support and encourage
women’s leadership development, and to create solutions that will raise
awareness in the context of work-life balance.
Operating in Turkey since 2013, PWN Istanbul has a member group
consisting of 350 male and female professionals with its corporate
members. With the projects it has carried out so far, it has brought together
more than 3,700 participants by reaching profiles of women in different
sectors and fields of expertise. All projects at PWN Istanbul are carried out
voluntarily by members from different age groups in different sectors and
specialties. C-Level executives make up 34 percent of our member profile.
All works at PWN Istanbul are flexible and interaction-oriented with the
logic of the circle. Our volunteer leaders are trying to realize our projects

gruplarımızdan bazıları.
Türkiye’de cinsiyet dengeli liderlik oranlarını ve yıllar içindeki
gelişimini nasıl değerlendiriyorsunuz?
Sürdürülebilir bir büyüme ve refah toplumu için cinsiyet dengeli
liderlik, olmazsa olmaz. Dünya Ekonomik Forumu’nun her sene
yayımladığı Cinsiyet Eşitsizliği Raporu’nda Türkiye, üç sıra daha
düşerek 133. sırada yer aldı. Bu, kadınların daha fazla fakirleşmesi
anlamına geliyor. Daha az kadın siyasette yer alıyor, daha az
kadın istihdamda uzun süreli kalabiliyor, daha çok kadın çocuk
yaşta hamile kalıp hayatını kaybedebiliyor. 21. yüzyılın yaşam
standartlarında ülkemizde kadınların durumu kaygı verici. Refah bir
toplum için ayrımcılık yerine kapsayıcılık ve fırsat eşitliğinin sosyal
yaşamın her alanında olması gerekiyor. Toplumsal cinsiyet eşitliği
için farkındalık ve birliktelik önemli. Bu sebeple yıllardır Eşitlik Elçisi
CEO projemizle iş dünyasında özellikle erkek CEO’ları toplumsal
cinsiyet eşitliği konusunda sorumluluk almaya davet ediyoruz.
100’ün üzerinde CEO bu çağrımıza cevap verdi ve eşitlik elçimiz
oldu. Son iki yıldır gençlere özellikle önem veriyoruz. Üniversitelerde
eşitlik elçisi öğrencilerimiz, cinsiyet eşitsizliği konusunda farkındalık
yaratacak faaliyetlerde bulunuyor. PWN Akademi bünyesinde
kurumlarla ve gençlerle eğitimlerimiz devam ediyor.
PWN Istanbul olarak kadınlara nasıl bir gelişim fırsatı
sunuyorsunuz?
PWN’de hem global hem de yerel gelişim fırsatlarından yararlanmak
söz konusu. Kuruluşumuzdan itibaren mentorluk ve araştırma
raporları, her sene düzenli olarak yürüttüğümüz faaliyetler. Mercer
iş birliği ile Kadın Parladıkça araştırması, iki senede bir düzenleniyor
ve stratejik ortak olarak bu araştırmaya destek oluyoruz. Geçtiğimiz
yıl akran mentorluğu, tersine mentorluk ve üniversite öğrencileri
mentorluğu sürecinde 300 mentor eşleşmesi gerçekleştirdik.
Üyelerimiz arasındaki etkileşimi ve sosyal öğrenmeyi hızlandırmaya

Türkiye’de pandemi döneminin cinsiyet eşitliği karnesi maalesef
çok parlak değil. Aile içi şiddet, artan ev işi yükü, işsizlik gibi
ciddi sorunlar yaşandı. Ben yine de bu dönemin uzun dönemde
sosyal rollerdeki algıların değişmesinde etkili olacağına
inanıyorum. COVID-19 ve karantina önlemlerinin toplumsal
cinsiyet eşitsizliği üzerine etkileri, kamuoyunda tartışılmaya
devam ediyor. İş gücü piyasasında beklenmedik değişimler,
evdeki iş bölümü ve sorumluluk algısını yeniden düzenleme
potansiyeline sahip. Güncel yaşamdaki beklenmeyen krizlerin,
toplumsal cinsiyete dayalı iş bölümü üzerindeki etkisine
odaklanan akademik çalışmalar, toplumsal cinsiyet rollerinin
davranış veya koşullara uyum sağlamak için değişebileceğini
gösteriyor. Pandemi sonrası iş dünyasında dönüşüm hızlandı,
bu dönüşümün kadınlar açısından olumlu etkileri olacağına
inanıyorum. Algıları değiştirmek için yasal ve sosyal değişim
programlarına ısrarla devam etmek gerekiyor.

How do you evaluate the gender-balanced leadership rates in
Turkey and their development over the years?
Gender-balanced leadership is essential for sustainable growth and
prosperous society. In the Gender Inequality Report published by the
World Economic Forum every year, Turkey fell three places and took
133rd place. This means that women are getting poorer. Fewer women
are involved in politics, fewer women can stay in employment for a
long time, and more women become pregnant and die as children.
The situation of women in our country is worrying when we take the
21st century’s living standards into consideration. Inclusiveness and
equality of opportunity should be in all areas of social life for a prosperous
society, instead of discrimination. Awareness and unity are important for
gender equality. For this reason, we invite especially male CEOs in the
business world to take responsibility for gender equality with our Equality
Ambassador CEO project for years. Over 100 CEOs responded to our call
and have become our equality ambassadors. For the last two years, we
have paid special attention to young people. Our equality ambassadors at
universities carry out activities to raise awareness about gender inequality.
Our trainings with institutions and youth continue within the body of PWN
Academy.
As PWN Istanbul, what kind of development opportunity do you
offer women?
In PWN, it is possible to take advantage of both global and local
development opportunities. Mentoring and research reports since our
establishment, activities we regularly carry out every year. In cooperation
with Mercer, the As Women Shine research is held biennially and we
support this research as a strategic partner. Last year, we matched
300 mentors in the process of peer mentoring, reverse mentoring and
university student mentoring. We attach great importance to accelerating
interaction and social learning among our members. For nearly a year
and a half, 170 members of our Women’s Circles practice have been

Unfortunately, the gender equality scorecard of the pandemic
in Turkey is not very bright. Serious problems such as domestic
violence, increased housework and unemployment were
experienced. I still believe that this period will be effective in
changing perceptions in social roles in the long run. The effects
of COVID-19 and quarantine measures on gender inequality
continue to be discussed in public. Unexpected changes in the
labor market have the potential to reorganize the division of
labor and responsibility at home. Academic studies focusing
on the impact of unexpected crises in contemporary life on the
gendered division of labor show that gender roles can change
to adapt to behavior or circumstances. The transformation in
the business world has accelerated after the pandemic and
I believe that this transformation will have positive effects
on women. In order to change perceptions, it is necessary to
persist in legal and social change programs.

with the support of UN SDSN and Awen for Us, has started. Within the
scope of the program, senior leaders of many health and pharmaceutical
companies, members and volunteers of PWN Istanbul, come together
with the participants. The program also offers the opportunity to
complete the Harvard University additional modules and the “Women in
Leadership: Emerging Leaders” online certificate program. This program
makes us very excited. I can say that it has made a significant contribution
to the network in terms of talent development in the sector.

gain productivity and quality. Maritime industry is one
of seminal examples of this concept. Commercial and
industrial history of maritime services shed light on how
to improve equipment, system and
operations to reduce costs and improve
the capacity of services. Comparing to the

the shipping margin in finished goods is
almost negligible today (while that reverses
gradually). That is the great success of
generations in the shipping industry and
well-established global governance which
shaped the industry. Shipping service is a
non-storable, non-transferable and capital-
intensive business which requires (at least)
technical visibility (predictability) to value
commercial risks.
The International Maritime Organization
(IMO) played a leading role in this
process of massive optimization and
standardization journey. The power of the
IMO is enormous in today’s global governance equation.
Among many other global organizations, the IMO may be
the strongest in terms of practical and direct impact. With
the port state control and flag state control mechanisms,
it has an unavoidable direct power exercise on over 90,000
ships around the world. In fact, the role of IMO is more
than technical regulatory body as mandating a technical
standard may have side-effects on commercial and financial
aspects of the business. The phase-out program on single
program was laid down on a decade to reduce financial side-
effects.
THE FACT THAT THERE IS NO STANDARD FOR MARINE
FUELS WILL BREAK THE BALANCE

A cargo ship is ordered few years earlier, then it is operated
for minimum 20 years (mostly over 25 years). So, the horizon
of a ship investment covers roughly three decades. Knowing
that a cargo ship built today may be phased out in the next
decade, or it may need a major renovation/retrofit in 10
years, how a ship investor would exercise a feasibility study.
Timing of such drastic change, type of change, and more im-
portantly, the cost of such change are completely unknown.
By a brief search on maritime information resources, you
may encounter ten different scenarios or potential changes.
For example, reducing carbon dioxide emission is not an
easy step. For a significant reduction, extraordinary measures
are needed; among them, some measures are not invented
and practically tested yet.
IMO HAS CHANGED ITS STRATEGY TO IMPLEMENT A
COMPULSORY POWER
Instead of developing a solution first, IMO has shifted its
strategy to implement a coercive power on experimenting
extraordinary measures to move entire shipping industry
to find its own solution. That is a historical move! Such an
uncertainty and ‘liberalization’ of the choice of solution will
eventually create fractions (already started) throughout the
industry. Every major carrier or groups of shipping firms offer
their unique choice of dealing with this emission mandate.
In other words, we are approaching an era ironically lifting
some standards and reducing technical visibility of ship ope-
rations. Placing a standard of emission target collapses stan-
dards (regulated or defacto) on the fuel, propulsion power
and bunkering operations. In addition, such a major change
leads to significant changes on the well-to-tank supply chain
for fuels, and the impact spills over oil and petrochemical
industries.
THE SANCTION WILL COMPLEX THE ENVIRONMENTAL
CONCERNS
It took decades laying down a level playing field over the
propulsion and fuel aspects of the industry: A standard
choice of fuel, a standard method of bunkering, almost a
standard engineering on propulsion power, a standard ship-
port interaction and so on. Underlying industries including
the oil industry are well optimized and interlocked with this
mechanism of powering ships. Lifting this mechanism and
pushing the industry to seek another equilibrium on another
powering solution without a standard transition will even-
tually cause a domino effect and even complicate the entire
environmental concern. For example, choice of methanol or
ammonia for such a massive volume will lead concerns on
the LNG (liquified natural gas) processing as the only major
source of such fuels is from the conversion of LNG today.
The cost of sustainably produced methanol or ammonia is
not easy to swallow by carriers. LNG is questioned due to
the extra volume needed to store while methanol or ammo-

FUEL AND POWER TRANSITION MUST BE MANAGED COR-
RECTLY
The fuel and power transition must be managed to reduce
such chaos. A stepwise transition from heavy fuel oil (HFO) to
low Sulphur fuel oil (LSFO) without a scrubber (exhaust gas
cleaning method) option would have made it easier to grasp
by the industry. After achieving a level playing field, another
practical option may have been injected at some point. For
an industry addicted to receive detailed orders from IMO,
studying a complex problem and solving a multi-variate equ-
ation are not something that every carrier can handle. Since

there is no clear direction, every carrier is now responsible to
do their own homework in theory. Yet, whatever solution is
developed, it must be coherent with competitors to achieve
the economy of scale and widescale availability in targeted
solution. Competitors need to collaborate while not breac-
hing the competition rules.
THE POPULARITY OF THE SCRUBBER OPTION HAS INC-
REASED
Considering the uncertainty around the fuel and power
problem, most carriers preferred ‘no action’ choice and left
the problem to be solved by whoever can handle it. There-
fore, low Sulphur fuel oil (LSFO) is the major fuel choice in
the current market. Due to raising price gap between LSFO
and HFO in recent period (highest in the last two years), the
popularity of scrubber option has risen while a reverse may
be observed if such gap diminishes.
Who is responsible for funding and finding the ultimate
solution for the entire industry? The current debate on
the emission control lies on this underlying question of
responsibility and authority.

Pitoresk bir balıkçı köyü olan El Barqueiro, kumlu bir plaja
sahip olmasının yanı sıra Viveiro’nun anıtları, balıkçı limanı ve
tatil beldesi ambiyansı ile bir kontrast sunar. Combarro isimli
küçük balıkçı köyünün Arnavut kaldırımlı sokakları ise saklı
köşeleri yürüyerek keşfetmek için çok ideal bir rota. Burada
deniz kenarındaki lezzetli restoranlarda taze deniz ürünleri
tadılabilir, deniz tarağı toplamak için sahile inen yerel halk
izlenebilir ya da denizin dibindeki tahıl ambarları ile kartpostal
görünümlü gün batımı fotoğrafları çekilebilir. Kasabanın tek
kötü yanı fazla turistik olması.

ARGEMONIA
and Pontevedra, has a solid and isolated coastline. The Rías
Baixasrías, formed by narrow cliffs hammered by the Atlantic
on the southwest coast, adds a characteristic look to the region.
The scalloped shoreline is also perfect for boating, fishing, and
swimming when the sun is shining. While the Atlantic coast
south of La Coruña has more spectacular rías, the coastline
formed by the indentations of the Rías Altas to the north is a
traveler favorite for its pristine resorts and tranquil beaches.
The medieval village of Pontedeume and the old-fashioned
resort town of Ortigueira are famous for their long sandy
beaches and lush green hills. The picturesque fishing village
of El Barqueiro, with its sandy beach, offers a contrast with
Viveiro’s monuments, fishing port and resort ambiance. The
cobbled streets of the small fishing village of Combarro are an
ideal route to explore the hidden corners on foot. Here, you
can taste fresh seafood at the delicious seaside restaurants,
watch the locals come down to the beach to collect scallops, or
take postcard-looking sunset photos with the granaries at the
bottom of the sea. The only downside of the town is that it’s too
touristy.
Galicia is believed to be a land filled with magic since
ancient times. From magical fountains that can heal
ailments to mysterious creatures living in rivers or seas,
many things have become part of Galicia’s magical
traditions. This is why it is also known as the land of
witches and superstitions.
