o What do you feel you learned in the TBW course you took?

Please be sure to cover any surprises or

impactful things that you found.

The most impactful thing that I have found through this course of TBW 200 is a video I watched in
Module 3.
It was heartbreaking to watch the Brown v. Board Doll Test video, which was a case study about
racial awareness in young children. According to the video, “With the implication being that in a
segregated society, if children are aware of race and the differences in race and the differences in
how different racial groups are treated, that it would impact how they felt about themselves.” (C-
SPAN, 2015) The black kids often pick the white doll as the perfect doll instead of the black doll they
have picked to look like them.

o How does it relate, reinforce, or even add to the course materials that you have used for this
module? If you feel that it didn’t do any of these things, then you need to explain why you feel that
way or if it filled in gaps.
It is related to the microaggressions we have studied in this course of TBW 200. “Microaggressions
have been described as small paper cuts that represent all of the times that someone says or does
something that further marginalizes you because of your identity.” (TBW200) Microaggressions are
the manifestation of stereotypes based on my understanding because this group of people treated
others based on their race and identity.
o How do you feel that it can be applied by you in the real world and/or in your future career?

It is not okay to treat others with microaggression regardless of whether we are in the real world or
at work. In the United States, words and deeds of racial discrimination are improper behaviors, and
it is disgraceful to be accused of being “racist.” Racial bias has always been an ongoing issue in the
US; the disparity between the rich and poor can be seen at a glance.
