a. Trying to control our sensual organs from objects.

व्यवस्था

This was facilitated by several व्यवस्था (Vyavastha) - including Upavasa, bowing to


the deities in the temple, removing footwear and several rules and regulations.
For example: Upavasa OR langhana entailing fasting every fortnight (which amounts to 24
days annually) has been traditionally practiced since time immemorial. It is gaining
popularity since past few years in 21st century. For example, Japanese scientist Professor
Yoshinori Ohsumi was awarded Nobel prize in the year 2016 for establishing the
innumerable benefits of intermittent fasting, amounting to around 21 days in a year.

1. Dehi is atman. Niraharam means without food or starving. If
we have to starve atman, it means we have to regulate
various organs in their desires.

2. An acharya says that he has five tenants in his house. But


they are all enemies. That is in his body [house] the five
organs are occupying as tenants and are forcing him in their
way.
3. So instead of allowing the organs to wander as they like,
direct them with a small effort, on Sri Krishna.
4. Vedas say that all the best tastes are all inherited in Him, all
the fragrance of the world are all lodged in Him, and He is
