PROBLEM DEFINED

Mankind has always wondered about what is beyond the night skies and
this yearning to know and has driven nations to pursue space travel. They
built rockets to search for habitable planets like earth, resources and life.
The progress to build spaceships has been a long and arduous journey.
Space agencies are always looking for new ideas to improve their space
travel efforts, so this is the reason why my group and I are going to make a
home-made rocket using two, two liter soda bottles.

A picture of a home-made bottle rocket, this picture was from the link sir
sent, link in the references/bibliography.Another video was used and will be
placed in the references/bibliography.

1ST POSSIBLE SOLUTION

Our first possible solution was to make the rocket with five 2 litre bottles,
with three cardboard fins attached to the bottom of it and a P.V.C pipe to help
guide the rocket.
5

2ND POSSIBLE SOLUTION

Our second possible solution was to make the rockets by using only 3 two
litre bottles and withouth the P.V.C pipe to guide it.

CHOSEN SOLUTION
We chose solution 1: Our first possible solution was to make the rocket
with five 2 litre bottles, with three cardboard fins attached to the bottom of it and
a P.V.C pipe to help guide the rocket.

DEVELOPMENTAL WORK

Tools: knife, scissors and glue gun.

Materials: Two 2 liter soda bottles, cardboard and duct tape.

Steps: Listed below:

Step 1: First peel of the label of each bottles, remove the cap, clean all
bottles with water and little soap.

Step 2: Cut off only the top of three (3) bottles.

Step 3: Then dry the bottles and sand the edges to get a smooth feel.

Step 4: Now attach the three (3) bottles inside each other with a tight fit
based down but not all the way to touch the base of each other. Using the silicone
glue.
9

Step 5: Next cut the top of the remaining two (2) bottles.

Step 6: Now stick on the remaining two (2) bottles. One on top and the
other at the bottom of step 4.

Step 7: Now cut the fins out of the cardboard box using the electric tape to
stick it onto the base of the bottle.

Step 8: Now attach the ¾ pvc pipe using the electric tape above one of the
fins near the base that will help guide the rocket.

Step 9: Then put 700ml (est.) water into the base.

TESTING
State how you are going to test your project /toy/product:

My group and I launched the rocket in the sky by clamping it on a stand,

filled air inside it and then pulled a piece of wood that was tied to a piece of string
to let the rocket go up in the sky.

CONCLUSION
Overall, the rocket was a success, it landed us an 86/100 and
was the highest rocket launched that day.Materials: Two 2 liter soda
bottles, cardboard and duct tape.
