oriented, enthusiastic team member to help elevate our programmatic e!orts.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Sorenson Impact Center is looking for an experienced, passionate professional to join and
lead our Student Program team. Our mission is to foster the next generation of impact
leaders: the students that will be in positions to change the world by giving them the hands-on
experience, skills, and networks they need to launch their career with impact.

The Director of the Student Program collaborates with the leaders of each of the Sorenson
Impact
Center’s verticals (Impact Investing, Finance, Strategy, and Storytelling) to harness the unique
perspective, energy, and power of these students to drive the core of our work. The Director
will structure and lead an e!ective team that will improve the student experience while
expanding access to these critical opportunities – both in terms of overall number of students
and in terms of student demographics.

The ideal candidate will have experience in higher education student programming, an
understanding of the impact space, comfortability with fundraising, and a history of strong
team management.

Responsibilities

Team P&L Ownership – Own the fundraising target for the Student Program team,
working individually and closely with the Partnerships Director to drive ongoing support
for the Student Program’s mission (including costs like sta"ng, student pay, travel, etc)
Strategy – In coordination with Center leadership, define, refine, and execute a holistic
strategy for the Sorenson Impact Center Student Program
Player/coach – E!ectively manage the team while developing a forward-looking plan to
expand the impact of the student program and its engagement with each of the
Sorenson Impact Center’s verticals (Finance, Investing, Story-Telling, and Strategy)
Develop and manage the Student Program team to accomplish the following goals:

Recruitment of a diverse and engaged student population for all Sorenson Impact
Center verticals,

Management of a high quality, impactful, and helpful experience for all participating

students

Development of an engaged and supportive alumni network


Collaboration with the internal Impact Storytelling team to develop and implement a
well-coordinated and fully integrated communication program

Development and tracking of performance measures to assess program success

Implementation of successful operational policies and practices to assure a fun, inviting,

encouraging, respectful, safe and e!ective work environment for all students and sta!

Partnership Development – e!ectively create and grow strategic internal and external
relationships to support student recruitment, engagement, and management. This
includes other units on campus at the University of Utah, other universities and colleges,
and potential externship/career placement organizations (ie: VC firms, foundations,
corporations, etc)

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related area, or equivalency; eight years of
progressively more responsible management experience; and demonstrated leadership,
human relations and e!ective communications skills required.

Master’s degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration or related area


preferred.

Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job
