CHAPTER 1 DEFINITIONS
TANKER – (Country, Date of SRD, Designation) – Defines the operating country, most recent date of data.
AAR EQUIPMENT – Primary tanker transfer method. If more than one method is available it will be listed separately.
MAXIMUM TRANSFERABLE FUEL – Normally the tanker’s fuel capacity if all fuel could be transferred. If the tanker
can only transfer from certain tanks then the quantity of transferable fuel. This does not subtract reserves or unusable fuel
which will be accounted for in planning.
AAR TRANSFER RATE – Designed transfer system fuel rate and tolerances (if available). Listed in kilograms per minute
and pounds per minute.
AAR FUEL PRESSURE – Designed transfer system fuel pressure and tolerances (if available).
FUEL TYPE [PRIMARY (ALTERNATE)] – NATO designated fuel type primarily used by the tanker, alternate fuels also
listed. Reference STANAG 1135 Annex C for an equivalent designator.
RV AIDS – Onboard radios, navigation aids, and other components with the capability to enable tanker/receiver
rendezvous.
NOTE: The data for this table comes directly from each National SRD and is accurate for planning and execution

4.1 DEFINITIONS
FUEL LOAD (ISA, 10,000’ runway, 1,500’ MSL) – This fuel load is a planning number based on a ficticious airfield with
a 10,000’ runway at 1,500’ MSL. The temperature conditions are 15C, 1013 hPa (29.92 in Hg), also referred to as ICAO
standard atmosphere (ISA).
CONFIGURATION – Normally defined by primary tanker transfer method. If there are other configurations affecting the
data, the definitions are listed in this cell. If more than one method is available it will be listed separately
FUEL LOAD (ISA + 10, 10,000’ runway, 1,500’ MSL) – Same definition as above except increased temperature by 10C.
AVERAGE FUEL BURN RATE – A planning factor burn rate (in lb/hour) that is a good average across all gross weights
for normal planning purpose.
NOMINAL AVERAGE RESERVE – Rounded average reserve fuel based on ICAO destination reserve for instrument
approach plus 30 minutes of holding fuel. This number will also include any unusable fuel (i.e. fuel tanks are considered empty
at 10,000 and reserve requirement is normally 5,000, the number listed is 15,000).
