DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH 3

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson the students should be able to:
1. Identify the degrees of adjectives
2. Use the degrees of adjectives in making comparison – EN3G–IVi–j-5.2
3. Complete the sentence with the appropriate degrees of comparison of adjectives

4. ABSTRACTION
In positive degree, we speak about only in 1
person or thing.
In comparative degree on the other hand, we
compare 2 things/persons with each other,
and it has 2 ways to change it.
 1 syllable – add –er at the end of the
word
 2 or more syllable – add more at front
of the word.
In superlative degree, we compare more than
2 things/persons with one another, and it has
also 2 ways to change it.
 1 syllable – add –est at the end of the
word
 2 or more syllable – add most at front
of the word.
Now can you change the word beautiful using beautiful, more beautiful, most beautiful

5. APPLICATION Group 1 – thick, small, slow


The class will be group into 4-5 groups. Each Group 2 – fast, tall, big
group will be given 3 words. Use them in Group 3 - heavy, happy, sweet

adjectives based on the pictures given. Group 5 – cheap, sharp, short

Have you learned something today? Yes, teacher we gained lot of new things from
today’s lesson. The three degrees of comparison:

- Long is an example of an adjective in the positive degree. Longer on the other hand
is an adjective in the comparative degree and longest is in the superlative degree.

Positive Degree – is used when there is only one thing or person being described.
Example: Vicky writes fast on the board.
Comparative Degree – is used when there are 2 things / persons being describe or compare.
Example: Allan writes faster than Vicky.
Superlative – is used when there are 3 or more things / persons being describe or compare.
Example: Among the students in class Rossana writes the fastest.
