    During the summer of 2023, a non-carbonated juice drink received numerous complaints of off-tastes like rancid, bitter, and oxidized. Tests found elevated levels of compounds produced from the oxidation of natural acids in the juice when exposed to light. The root cause was determined to be the clear stretch film used for packaging not adequately blocking light. To address this, the packaging film was replaced with a decorated film that better blocks light, and additional monitoring of store storage conditions was implemented where problems previously occurred.
