Topic:making peace with God

Reading: Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee:because
he trusted in thee.

Introduction
Everyone wants peace whether you are :
 National leader sitting with other leaders from all over the world,
 Business man, employee with presuure of deadlines,
 Student trying to make though your semesters or national exams,
 Home maker trying to correct the kids and your spouse,
NB most people will go to whatever limits to find peace. But most of us, if we are honest we
must admit that we experience more stress than peace.
Look for example our cities are very modern but not safe at all at our streets hence no
peace.look at some of the big homes in posh areas where we hear of domestic violence most
oftenly and even deaths because there is no peace. So where can we go for peace .The only
lasting source of peace is God himself.

Main Objectives:
1. Where can we go for peace?
i. Spiritual peace: This is the peace with God,we must have peace with
God before any other kind of peace.
(ROM :1) Therefore since we have been declared righteous by faith, we
have peace with God though our Jesus Christ.
ii. Emotional peace: This is peace of GOD:This peace comes after you
already have peace with God .It is an internal sence of well being and
order. (1cor:14:33)….since God is not a God of Disorder but of peace.
Everyone who knows lord jesus christ can go through any problem, face
death, face sickness, lose your job and have that peace that you don’t
understand still in the presence of those conflicts and
frustrations, difficulties, And God’s peace will be present.

2. How do we maintain peace?

(Rom 14:19) so then we must pursue what promotes peace and what builds up
one another. So what must we doif we want peace?
i. We must obey: (ps 119:165-167) peace comes when we do what he tells
us.Lets God word be your owner’s manual for life it has all the
instructions.

ii. We must focus on God’s presence: we must realize God is always with us
and learn to sense his presence; Isaiah 26: 3 you will keep in perfect
peace the mind depend on you). You can chose to focus on the problems
or focus on God who holds the solution. It is what you concentrate on that
determines your level of personal peace.
iii. We must trust God’s purpose: Even when things don’t make sense
We must trust in God’s purpose (pro3: 5-6) Trust in the Lord with all
your heart and do not rely on your own understanding.Think about Him
in all your ways and he guide you on the right paths;
iv. We must ask for God’s peace: (phil 4:6-7…Paul’s… Don’t worry about
anything, though prayer and petition, with thanksgiving let your requests
be known to God.And the peace of God which surpases every thought, will
guard your hearts and your minds in christ Jesus.
Illustration: imagine a lion after a chasing its prey and its successful, it would wish to enjoy its
meal in peace and then take a nap peacefully, but once it’s asleep some flies would move
around its mouth because of smell of blood, others around the eyes and for sure disturb the
Lions peace (a fly is very small compared to lion but It will deny the lion its peace, the Lion with
all its power (King Of Jungle)would prefer to “swallow it’s pride “and move to another location
where there are no flies so that it can have its peace,
Moral teaching: We must concentrate on what determines our level of personal peace .
Conclusion:
What you need is to ask Jesus to come into your life so that you may experience peace with
God.it is not a trouble free life but a sence of calm in the midst of life’s storm.
What is robbing your peace today? Is it guilt :ask for forgiveness,Is it your
family, job, health, studies talk to God about all these things and anything else that is bothering
you.
The God of all peace wants to give you peace and he is here now ready to make that gift to
you
Will you accept it ?
