District-level Challenges for the Running Enterprise

1. Vallabh Bhavan
● The major issue is the conflict between entrepreneurs; they do not come to duty on
time and do not prepare food on time.
● Their attendance level is very poor.
● Another problem is the need for a strong person from the district level to coordinate
them properly.
● Staff's arrival time to the enterprise is inconsistent.
● No team meetings are held, resulting in a lack of teamwork and coordination.
● Time management is lacking, mainly due to the long distance to the enterprise.
● The work schedule is not properly maintained.
● There is less planning for the next day's operations.
● Inventory management is inadequate.
● The equipment is not properly serviced.
● There is a waste of resources.
● The staff does not adhere to proper food timing.
● Staff members create loud noises in front of customers.
● There is a lack of staff presence in their designated areas, especially in service and
front office roles, and they are often late.
● There is an excess of staff members.
● There is a time gap between order, service, and post-service activities, mainly table
cleaning.
● Purchase management is not efficient.
● Books of records are not properly maintained.
● Food quality is poor, leading to numerous customer complaints.

2. Raisen Canteen
● There is a lack of coordination between the district team and the block team.
● Bills and quotations are not provided.
● Entrepreneurs have not purchased the necessary equipment as per the business plan.
● Coordination is very poor, as the District Project Manager (DPM) mostly works
individually.

1
● The district team does not ensure that orders are received.
● There is very poor support from the district, where mentors went to the district.
● The equipment purchased by the district team is of low quality, and Mentors'
suggestions are ignored.

3. Raisen Food Truck

● There is a lack of coordination between the district team and the block team.
● Entrepreneurs have not received proper training.
● The food truck purchased is not up to standard and is not in working condition.
● Coordination is very poor, with the DPM working individually.
● The food truck is not located in a viable place; it was supposed to be parked near
Sanchi Stupa, but it is currently parked near Rural Mart.
● The entrepreneurs running the food truck are members of the same household.
● The equipment lacks quality (e.g., the Bain Marie is not stainless steel, and the deep
fryer does not have a net).
● The inverter is not working, and the food truck relies on electricity from the nearby
rural mart, which closes in the evening.
● The district team has taken responsibility for the quality of equipment, the vehicle,
and renovation work, ignoring the suggestions and support of mentors during the
quotation and purchase process.

4. Sehore- Catering
● The enterprise is not interested in providing orders to the enterprise as guaranteed by
the District Team during the viability study.
● The district team has not provided the promised orders from RSETI, meetings and
training orders from CTC, meetings, and training conducted in the District
Collectorate and other institutions.
● The district team does not provide institutional spaces inside institutions for order
collection and delivery, which poses a significant obstacle for future institutional-
based enterprises.

5. Sehore- Canteen
● The enterprise is not receiving the promised orders from the district and block levels.

2
● The district and block teams have not paid the amount for catering orders as
instructed.
● The entrepreneurs require more support from the district and block levels to improve
their business.
● Only three male staff members are working, and the enterprise is solely reliant on the
support of the District team.
● The District team has not fulfilled their promises regarding the front gate of the
canteen, which is not open to the public, and the absence of outside boards.

6. Guna- Canteen
● The entrepreneurs do not receive proper support from the district level, block level,
and point person.
● The enterprise is not receiving the promised orders from the district and block levels.
● Entrepreneurs have not yet attempted to go out and take orders. It is necessary to have
someone from the district strongly coordinate them.
● There is no coordination and cooperation between the entrepreneurs.
● There is no additional cooking staff. However, the entrepreneurs are trained and
provide good food quality.
● There is no teamwork or team meeting, and there is a lack of coordination between
the C L F, block, and district levels.
● Entrepreneurs often arrive late and leave early, causing issues.
● Food cannot be prepared on time, resulting in delays in serving customers due to the
aforementioned issue.
● The front office staff is trying to maintain smooth record-keeping.
● A problem has arisen where one entrepreneur's departure causes mental difficulties
for other entrepreneurs. Despite holding meetings and repeatedly requesting the
supporting point person to resolve the issue, no meeting has been held or attempts
made to address the problem.

7. Gwalior- Food Truck

● There is low support and response from the district team.

3
● After preparing the business plan, every task was led by SRG, and the State team
coordinated with him.
● Details of bills for CBO equipment, the food truck, and entrepreneurs' equipment
have not been obtained or collected from the vendor (the district and block teams
provide little support in retrieving or showing the bills to mentors).
● Sales and cost details have not been obtained (proper bookkeeping and billing
machine not maintained).
● Food truck standards are not being maintained or followed (branding, logos, menu
card, menu boards, vehicles, fabrication material used).
● Currently, trained women are not involved in entrepreneurship, and only one male
staff member is working during our visit.
● Suggestions and support needed have already been communicated to the district and
block teams, but they have not supported the enterprise in resolving the problems.
● The district team claims that the food truck has location permission, but they have not
provided the necessary documents, resulting in the food truck not being placed in the
designated location according to the viability report. (Issues have arisen with local
police regarding parking the vehicle at the specified place as mentioned in our
viability report).

8. Panna (Pawai Block) - Kiosk

● The district and block teams worked well together.
● The teamwork was excellent.
● Entrepreneurs require support for production for a period of 1 or 2 months.
● Currently, they only prepare snacks and tea, and full menu items are not prepared.
● They need more support from the block team to increase sales.
● There is a time management problem on the entrepreneur's side.
