SINULOG FESTIVAL
For 32 years, the Sinulog Festival is
a traditional celebration in Cebu
City held every third Sunday of
January to honor the Santo Niño
(Child Jesus). Basically, the festival
is done by a dance ritual, in which it
tells the story of the Filipino
people's pagan past and their
acceptance of Christianity.

ATI-ATIHAN FESTIVAL
The festivity was originally a
pagan celebration to
commemorate the Barter of
Panay, where the Aeta accepted
gifts from Bornean chieftains called
Datu, who fled with their families
to escape a tyrannical ruler, in
exchange for being allowed to
dwell in the Aeta's lands.

DINAGYANG FESTIVAL
The Dinagyang festival
history started in 1967 when an
Augustinian priest from Cebu
gave a replica image of the Santo
Niño as a birthday gift to a fellow
Augustinian priest in Iloilo. Since
then, a novena mass was held every
Friday at the San Jose Parish Church
MASSKARA FESTIVAL
MassKara Festival started at a time
of crisis and disaster in the 1980s.
The World Market prices for sugar,
the province's monocrop, and main
source of livelihood went drastically
down. Because of these, two artists
thought of promoting mask making
as an alternative source of income for
the locals.

KADAYAWAN FESTIVAL
It is the celebration of life, a
thanksgiving for the gifts of nature,
the wealth of culture, and bounties of
harvest and serenity of living. While
it's celebrated without the religious
factor, the origin of Kadayawan
Festival is the pagan belief of the
ethnic tribes of Davao.
