Legalization & Same Sex Marriage in the

Philippines

INTRODUCTION

Philippines is a predominantly Catholic country, with deeply rooted cultural and religious
traditions. The institution of marriage has long been understood between a man and a woman.
Legalizing same-sex marriage would not only challenge these deeply held beliefs but could also
result in the erosion of cultural and religious practices that have shaped Filipino society for
centuries. Protecting the integrity of these traditions is essential for maintaining social cohesion
and harmony.

The issue of legalizing same-sex marriage has been a topic of intense debate and discussion
globally. This aims to present a perspective against the legalization of same-sex marriage in the
Philippines. While recognizing the importance of individual rights and equality, the traditional
understanding of marriage as a union between a man and a woman holds significant societal,
cultural, and religious value

COUNTER ARGUMENT

According to a Bible Verse Romans 1:26-27: "For this reason God gave them up to
dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary
to nature, and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with
passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men."

This passage from the New Testament is often cited as evidence against same-sex
relationships. However, it is crucial to read this verse within its broader context and consider
different interpretations. Scholars have varying views on what these verses specifically refer to,
such as temple prostitution, excessive lust, or acts committed against one's nature, rather than
loving, committed same-sex relationships as understood today.

I am not agree the same sex marriage bae god create woman for the man.

I am not agree to the same sex marriage because base on the Leviticus 20:13: "If a man lies
with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be
put to death; their blood is upon them."

In conclusion, the legalization of same-sex marriage in the Philippines should be approached

with caution, considering the cultural, religious, and societal implications. While recognizing the
importance of equal rights and inclusivity, the traditional understanding of marriage between a
man and a woman is crucial for maintaining social stability, protecting cultural values, and
ensuring the optimal environment for children's upbringing.
