3. There are 25 students in a class and 12 are girls. Find the percentage of girls.

4. Find the selling price of a bag which bought for Rs.500/= to get 8% profit.

5. A vendor got 5% loss when selling a watch for Rs.760/=.Find the purchasing price of the
watch by the vendor.

6. When importing a vehicle 40% of its value should be paid as customs duty. If the value
of the vehicle is Rs.750 000/= find the total amount to be spent when importing it.

7. A house of assessed annual value is Rs.30 000/= is charged annual rates of 4%.Calculate
the annual rates to be paid for a quarter.

8. The assessed annual value of a shop is Rs.120 000/=.The quarterly rates to be paid for
the property is Rs.1500/=.Calculate the rates percentage.

9. If income tax percentage is 4% and the amount of income tax is Rs.3000/= find a
person’s annual income.
10. Monthly telephone charges of a person is Rs.2200/=. If VAT of 15% is charged for that
find the tax amount to be paid. Hence find his total monthly telephone bill.

1. Naveen borrowed Rs.12000/= on simple interest. After 2 years he settled the loan by
paying Rs.19200/=.

i. Find the amount he paid as interest.
ii. Find the interest paid per year.
iii. Find the percentage of interest.

b. If Naveen could not settle it within 2 years and the loan period extended up to 5
years, find the total amount Naveen has to pay to settle the loan.

2. A businessman paid Rs.56 000/= as income tax for year 2016. Find his annual income.
Initial Rs.500 000 - Tax free
Next Rs.500 000 - 4%
Next Rs.500 000 - 8%
Next Rs.500 000 - 12%

3. Assessed annual value of a house is Rs.180 000/= and the municipal council charges 4%
of it as annual rates. The owner rents out the house for monthly rental of Rs.12 000/=
and he has to spend 1.25% of monthly rental for maintenance of the house.

i. Find the total amount he receive as rental


ii. Find the amount he pays as annual rates.
iii. Find the total amount he spends for maintenance.
iv. Find the amount remaining with him after a year.
