The Impact of Social Media to Teens

Social media destroys the teens.

Social media is a big part of many teens’ lives; Media platforms such as
YouTube, Facebook, Instagram or Snapchat are among the platforms that they
use for entertainment and building social network across geographic barriers.
The impact of social media is either good or bad- social media can negatively
affect one’s behavior, emotions, thinking and routine making social media a bad
influence. On the other hand, social media provides entertainment to teens which
makes social media good.

Social Media destroys the teens by distracting them, disrupting their sleep, and
exposing them to bullying, rumor spreading, giving them unrealistic views of
other people’s lives and peer pressure.
Studies found that teens who spent more than three hours a day using social
media is at a heightened risk for poor mental health and its problems such as
depression or anxiety syndromes and poor sleep quality.
According to reports, passive viewing of other’s photos in Facebook, decreases
people’s life satisfaction in thinking that others are happier than they were.
More so, teen’s impulsive nature causes them to post on social media contents
that are private and intimate without analyzing the negative consequences which
results to bullying, harassment or blackmailing.
In conclusion, it is very important parents their teens of the responsible use of
social media. In addition, they should also remind their teens that social media
should not me the basis of their negative feeling of discontentment.
Similarly, teens must also be discouraged of the irresponsible use of mass
media. Most importantly, parents should always check and monitor their teen’s
accounts.
Social Media is either good or bad, it affects their behavior, routine and thinking
positively or negatively. Providing bad and good influence.
