Narrative
The orientation was conducted through face to face platform. The orientation begun with
an introduction to mental health and discussed common emotions such as happiness,
sadness, anger and fear. The resource speaker Ma’am Chealene L. Cobilla/ T-III as MHPSS
Coordinator explained that it is normal to experience this emotions and how to manage
them in a healthy manner. The next speaker Sir Peejee O. Endrina / T-III introduced
strategies on how to improve mental health such as mindfulness, positive self-talk and
breathing exercises. The children were encourage to practice these strategies on their own
and make them a part of their daily routine.
For the afternoon session Sir Eugene C. Cervantes/MT- I discussed the importance of
seeking help when needed. He emphasized that it is okay to ask for help when experiencing
mental health challenges and provided resources such as the National Suicide Prevention
Lifeline and child therapy services. Afterwards, Ma'am Jean P. Guiriba / T-III delved into the
topic of depression and anxiety. Learners enhanced their knowledge on how to manage
their emotions towards different problems and trials that will come along the way. Lastly,
Ma’am Cathy B. Espenida/ T-III tackled on how to be resilient. Learners was able to
understand that resilience is a lifelong skill that continues to develop over time by providing
support, fostering a nurturing environment and strategies, it can help them develop the
resilience they need to navigate life's ups and downs.
The mental health team used videos, interactive presentations, and role-playing activities to
make the program engaging and interesting for the learners. The Q&A session was given to
the learners were they could ask any question they had. The resource speakers provided
thoughtful and informative responses.
The learners showed a positive response and actively participated in the activities. In
addition to the orientation the learners were given resources to take home including mental
health flyers.
On the closing program certificates are awarded to both the speakers and learners.
Overall, the mental health orientation was a success. The learners gained valuable
knowledge about mental health and learned strategies on how to maintain and improve
their mental well-being. It is important for schools to prioritize mental health education and
provide students with the necessary tools to address their mental health concerns.
