CRUELLA

Cruella is an American crime comedy film directed by Craig Gillespie based on the character
Cruella de Vil from Dodie Smith’s novel The Hundred and One Dalmatians. The movie is set on
the 70s in London.

Estella is a young and creative fashion designer, who associated with a couple of thieves,
Jasper and Horace, to survive at London streets. However, when her fashion talent attracts
Baroness van Hellman attention, Estella decides to change the course of her life, until a series
of events lead her to take on her evil side and become the evil character of Cruella.

The great strength of this fil is how the character of Estella is revealed. Despite having the
typical devices common to criminal movies, the film recreates properly the history of this
empowered women. My only criticism would be that the first half of the film goes on too long
and perhaps could have been more shortest

In my opinion is an absolutely interesting movie, which perfectly recreates the warrior attitude
of women. Moreover, the soundtrack of the film transports you the 70s decade and the
comics, Joel Fry (Jasper) and Paul Walter Hauser (Horace) deliver the coup-de-gras to the film
to make it more attractive.
