Score Analysis

1. Basics
a. Key – Sharps and flats within the piece
b. Modulations – change of key within the piece

2. Chord Analysis
a. You have to label the chord function using roman numerals
b. Cadences – The punctuation at the end of phrases that are:
i. I – V (Half) V – I (Full) V – vi (deceptive) IV – I (Plagal)
c. Look for and identify patterns if there are some

3. Theme Analysis
a. Melody – Identify what the main melody is and where it is
b. Counter melody – Identify if there are secondary melodies

4. From Analysis
a. Identify the larger structure using letters for example ABA

Chords within a key are always the following unless there are accidentals:
Major: I ii iii IV V vi vii
Minor: i II III iv v VI vii
