CHAPTER IV

PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS & INTERPRETATION

This chapter presents the analysis and interpretation of data based on the results

outlined in lined with the statement of the problem

PROBLEM 1: What is the level of difficulty in learning English of grade 10 students in

speaking ability?

Table 1 presents the overall result of distribution identifying the level of difficulty of

learning English in terms of respondents speaking ability. Hence rating (4) the

“difficult” has the larger number or tally where 68 students of 34% of the students is

adequate and acceptable and 39 students or 19.5% of the student is rates “very

difficult” therefore, almost 54% of the students have difficulties to speak English

fluently and not performing well in learning English in terms of speaking ability.

PROBLEM 2: Is there significant relationship of speaking ability and academic

performance of grade 10 students?

Table 2 presents the respondent’s academic performance of grades in their English

subject as of 3rd Quarter. As we can see on the table, 7 students out of 25 students that

has been surveyed consist 90-100 grading scale which means “Outstanding” 11

students consist 85-89 grading scale which means “Very satisfactory” and no students

had a grade below 75. Therefore 72% or most of the respondents are performing well in

their English subject as of 3rd Quarter academic performance.


CHAPTER V

SUMMARY, FINDINGS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS

This chapter present the summary of the study, the findings, and the

recommendation drawn from the result. This study aimed to determine the Speaking

ability and academic performance of grade 10 students.

Summary

Speaking skills are defined as the skills which allow us to communicate effectively.

They give us the ability to convey information verbally and in a way that the listener can

understand. This study revealed that most of the students performed well in learning

English in terms of speaking ability and there’s still students needed to practice and

review in learning English as they have their difficulties in speaking ability. It aimed out

finding the level of speaking ability it was shown that students had problems in speaking

which made the student difficult in communicate.


FINDINGS

 19.5% of the student rates (5) “very difficult “

 34% of the student rates (4) “difficult “

 28.5% of the student rates (3) “normal”

 14% of the student rates (2) “easy”

 4% of the student rates (1) “very easy”

 100% of the respondents cooperate with the survey

 53.5% of the students are not performing well in learning English in terms of

speaking ability

 46.5% of the students performed well in learning English in terms of speaking

ability

 7 students have the average grades based on the grading scale 90-100

 11 students have the average grades based on the grading scale 85-89

 6 students have the average grades based on the grading scale 80-84

 Only one student has the average grades based on the grading scale 75-79

 No students had a grade below

CONCLUSION

This study revealed that most of the students performed well in learning English in

terms of speaking ability and there’s still students needed to practice and review in

learning English as they have their difficulties in speaking ability. It also revealed the
average grades of the students based on their academic performance grades in English

(3rd quarter)

RECOMMENDATION

Students. It is recommended that the students should study and practice more in

learning engli in terms of speaking ability.

Teachers. It is recommended that the teachers should help students and have more

patience in teaching students.

Parents. It is recommended that the parents should guide their son/daughter and

support them in learning that needed ti be learned.

Reader. It is recommended that this study would help the readers to understand and

identify student capacity in learning English.

Future Researchers. It is recommended that this study can be used as additional

learning and information of the future researchers.

ABSTRACT

This study aimed at finding out the level of speaking ability. Based on the survey

conducted to know the student speaking ability. It was shown that students had

problems in speaking due to inadequate knowledge of the language which in turn

made the student felt unconfident to speak. This paper presents the speaking

ability on Academic Performance of the student skills. Communicate is one way

for students to practice their English speaking and build their confidence. We

analyzed this study by giving survey questionnaire to 25 Grade 10 students of

Concepcion National High School by analyzing the result. 19.5% of the student

rates (5) “very difficult”, 34% of the student rates (4) “difficult “28.5% of the

student rates (3) “normal”,14% of the student rates (2) “easy” and 4% of the

student rates (1) “very easy”. The results indicate that 53.5% of the students are

not performing well and 46.5% of the students performed well in learning English

in terms of speaking ability. Therefore, 100% of the respondents cooperate with

the survey.

This research paper is sincerely dedicated to my supportive parents who

encouraged and inspired me in conducting this study. They have never left my

side throughout the process and gave me strength and hope when I thought of

giving this up. They provided me a great sense of enthusiasm and perseverance
