SAFETY

1. Safety: is the condition of being safe from undergoing or causing hurt, injury or loss
2. Security: is the state of being or feeling secure; free from fear, anxiety, danger, doubt etc.
3. First Aid: refers to the emergency or immediate care you should provide when a person
is injured or ill until full medical treatment is available
4. IN TERMS OF SOMEONE DROWNING
a. Firstly check for breathing, lift their head back and look, listen and feel for breath
b. Begin CPR meaning Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation which is an emergency
procedure consisting of chest compressions often combined with artificial ventilation
in an effort to manually pressure intact brain function further measures
c. Tell someone to call 999 for emergency
5. IN TERMS OF SOMEONE BEING ELECTROCUTED
a. Firstly turn off power
b. Call 999
c. Do not touch them
d. If possible use a non conducting object to move the source away from the you and the
injured person.
e. Once contact is broken, perform primary survey / CPR
6. HOW DO YOU ADMINISTER FIRST AID
a. In terms of wound: Use Hydrogen peroxide to clean wound
b. If it is Burns: Cool the burn as quickly as possible with cool running water for at
least 10mins, or until the pain is relieved.
Phone 911 or seek medical help

While cooling the burn, carefully remove any clothing or jewelries , unless its
attached to the skin.
c. In terms of someone that fainted: Call if the person is unconscious, roll them on
their side. Check if he/she is breathing and if they have pulse. Being CPR, if possible
elevate the person’s feet above the height of their head

Get medical help immediately
Leave the joint alone
Put an ice pack covered in a cloth on the area around the joint
Until you receive help, splint the affected joint into its fixed position.
7. AIR MOVER: is a portable compressed air appliance, which may be used as a blower or
exhauster. It converts the compressed our into a large induced volume of moving air.
a. Air Discharge: is a method for testing ESD – Protection structures in which the ESD
generator is discharged through an air gap btw the generator and the device under test
(DVT)
b. Air Hood: is a portable exhaust hood that sucks up smoke, grease and steam.
8. EXPLAIN THE FOLLOWING;
a. Following Distance: In the space between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of
you while driving.
b. Ergonomics: can be defined as the study of people in their working environment.
c. Head Light: is a light with a reflector and special lens mounted in the front of a car
to illuminate the road ahead
9. DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN THE FOLLOWING :

11. TREATMENT GIVEN TO A PERSON IN;
a. Shock: Call 911 while waiting for help to arrive
b. Lay the person down with raised legs
c. Loosen any tight clothing around the neck, chest and waist
d. Begin CPR
12. SNAKE BITE: Keep the person calm, no movement should be done to avoid the person
from flowing through the blood vessels getting to the heart.
a. Tie the affected area to allow passage or flow of blood.
b. Cut the affected area with a sharp object for release or flow of out of the poison and
bad blood
c. Call for medical help

13. .ACID BATH: Call for medical assistant
a. Cool the burn under cold running water for at least 20mins. This will cool the burn
and wash out the chemical. If you don’t have access to water, you can use other
harmless liquid cone you can drink such as milk cola)
b. Comforting the person is very important as it keep them calm and decrease stress
level.
14. HEAT EXHAUSITION: Move the person out of the heat into a air condition place
a. Lay the person down and elevate the legs and front slightly
b. Remove tight or heavy clothing
c. Have the person sip chilled water and cool the person by spraying or sponging with
cool water and fanning
d. Monitor the person carefully
e. Call for medical help
